Fantastic Work Sirji. Work of a genius, the creator (KA) and then you recreating. Such masterly use of resources. All chords in the scale of F# major used sans the 7th diminished.
The intro taking the listener into F# territory with soft use of F# and C#
The song starts with the 6th the D# minor, the second stanza of the mukhda again dares to start with A# minor despite melody on the 3rd allowing home chord use. The song ostensibly rests it case after the movement at F# such that the listeners ears are not troubled into unknown.
The interlude completes the 2nd minor use the G#
A classic case of using simple resources to extraordinary effect.

Sir it sounds so soft when I strum with the hands, its never hard as in the case of a plectrum. Today I did not touch the
plectrum and practiced many of your songs. I even got a hang of your style of [ circling the fingers in a circular motion while
strumming ] I will not stop practicing finger strumming it I get it all right. Sir thanks a ton for being my teacher !

My husband who is also from Indian Air Force is pursuing his PhD right now and I get a lot of free time , since he keeps
studying all the time.
I sit with the guitar after he leaves the house and keep practicing till he comes back home.
Sir it might be very funny and weird to hear this but I want to become a guitarist like you and then later join a band of
musicians. You strum with so much ease , hence I try to become your copy cat. I will try my best to attain my dream by

Sir last night I practiced 'Te Amo " strumming. I could get the correct speed and timing but my speed and timing
was breaking time and again while playing the up stokes. I will try and get it without any breaks today.
All thanks to you for such wonderful videos. I wouldn't have been able to play 1/16 notes at high speeds with a plectrum ,
hadn't it been for your videos from which I learnt finger strumming.
Would be ever grateful to you for being my teacher ,especially for strumming patterns made so easy.
Sir can I request you to please tell me what those numbers displayed with the chords on the screen are for?? Tied guessing it but failed,neither are they matching fret numbers or string numbers of that particular chord.

Today I learned this song.
Sir it sounds so melodious when you play.
Trying to imitate the minutest detail of your strumming style ,I got a hang of it a few days back.
Sir you mentioned in your earlier replies to me,that I wouldn't touch a pick, once I get a hang of strumming with my fingers.
You were absolutely right !!!
I do not use a pick for strumming and picking anymore and it sounds lot more melodious and easy to strum and pick without a plectrum and I can apply exact pressure while strumming with my fingers unlike a pick.
Sir I'm extremely thankful to you for being my teacher !
Unfortunately I couldn't imitate you as far as the " Barr chords " are concerned.
I'm unable to play Barr chords till date,no matter how hard I try.
I get muted sound whenever I try to play Barr chords and I lost hope of playing Barr chords any time in near future.
I wish I could learn to play Barr chords !

hi sameena, so glad you found my guidance useful.
for barre chords you need a lot more practice. the strings and guitar construction can also make a difference. you will find electric guitars much easier to play but if you want to continue with acoustic, ask the store to show you one with low action (where strings are closer to the fretboard).
also use light gauge strings, they will be easier for the fingers and less painful, and will also sound better with chords. good luck and let me know if you have more questions.

Sir I do have both acoustic cum electric with an attached plugin for turning it into an electric guitar and a proper electric guitar too but I use this acoustic guitar for my daily practice.
Sir actually I was cheated when I bought this acoustic plugin guitar at the store in Siliguri. I wanted a rose wood guitar which gets exported from India.The salesman showed my rosewood guitar but packed a plywood guitar.Since we were on a holiday trip to Siliguri ,I realized it after leaving Siliguri. Couldn't have done anything about it.The plywood tends to expand and contract with the weather conditions and hence the strings are placed high from the fret board. I have to get it adjusted time and again from the guitar repair shop.
Sir your info about the strings made me realize that, may be I'm unable to get a hold on Barr chords because the strings might not be getting fully pressed by my index finger as they are placed far from the fret board and hence sound muted.
Tomorrow I will try Barr chords on my electric guitar and will let you know ,if at all I'm able to play.
I will be thrilled if it works on the electric guitar.Thanks a ton for this guitar info Sir !
Sir can I request you to please let me know the open chords for the prelude 1&2 please as I have learnt and fine tuned my strumming patterns 1&2 today by repeatedly practicing the whole song.

hi sameena, since i have shown the open chords for the song, you can easily substitute what you see on the screen when the interludes are being played. and the opening music has the tune that one of the interludes has. please check it and let me know if you have any issues.
good luck with the electric guitar. learning barre chords is important if you want to take your strumming to the next level and be able to play all kinds of patterns. daily practice is critical as it takes time for the skin to harden. with lots of practice and a good guitar of course, you will see the improvements gradually.

I have noticed that the Barr chords in the 1st interlude are just the same as the song but are being played on 6&7 frets instead ,unlike in the song which are played on the lower frets, hence I will try playing it first on the same frets as in the song and if it doesn't work out ,I will try playing the chords by moving them to the next higher fret as you did.
In case I find it difficult and if it doesn't match tune,I will come back to you Sir.
Sir request you to please let me know the equivalent open chord for G#m ,as G#m chord is not played in the song except for the interlude.

The word 'Rehti' from line 'pal pal dil ke pass tum rehti ho' does not sound like C#. Well, please don't get me as a judgemental person. I have learnt a lot from you. What do you think about it(c# at 'rehti') sir?
not at all yashwant, thanks for your feedback! the melody line on the words "rehti ho" moves across 3 notes - from D# to F to F#. technically you can use 3 chords as you move across these notes - B (which has the notes B, D#, F#) , C# (which has the notes C#, F, G#) and then land on F# on the word ho. I though i heard only C# & F# being played in track. let me know what you think :)
Hello Sir.
Sir I have been trying to connect my keyboard knowledge with my guitar .
Sir I normally play film songs on the C# scale on the keyboard. With this song too I did the same ...the melody line being D# F F# A# G# G# D# F F#.
But my dilemma is ...the same does not correspond to my guitar scale in which I comfortabley sing and play in the scale of E ....the chords being C#m B A B and E .
I keep wondering what is out of place.
Please Sir do solve this doubt.
hi ranjana, the scale you use for learning classical music is usually based on your vocal range as every raag will typically have you singing within the same range without moving your Sa note around too much.
with popular music, this doesn't make sense as there could be a song with notes from Pa below your Sa, so you need to move to a higher Sa.
that is why even with the same vocal range, you could be singing a popular song in C#, another one in E, another one in G, etc etc..
