its kind of ironically and poetically beautiful and sad that the northern water benders, who forbidded women from waterbending, now have to rely on Yue, a woman, to give them their waterbending🥺
It was hinted early on the Uncle Iroh could actually see into the Spirit World.
They couldn't heal the moon spirit because they couldn't waterbend anymore. These episodes took me from being a casual enjoyer of this show to an all out fan when this aired because everything just leveled up.
Always thought the little detail that Aang as the ocean spirit could only push since the moon spirit (the pull) was killed was cool
And when the moon came back he PULLED the admiral into the water
I love the detail they put on Koh. The creators really managed to create the most unsettling, creepiest and scarriest character in the entire show. Koh can only steal a face when someone makes an expression, so he does everything to make a reaction out of Aang. You can see that right from the beginning when he tries to surprise him. And then how he starts to circle him to make him nervous... Or when he suddenly changes his face to a monkey or to an angry face to scare him... Even when he changed to the face of the lover of his previous incarnation... I just wished Koh had been more developed in the show.
You can tell koh is good at what he does. When aang first meets him he tries to jump scare him. Then the first time he changes his face, he intentionally turns away from aang, to conceal his face changing ability. When he does it the second time he lets aang see it, and turns into a beautiful womans face. He is trying to get any type of emotion out of aang
definitely the most disturbing villain. makes me sad every time Koh shows who i can only assume was Avatar Kuruk’s lover’s face. he still has her beautiful face and Kuruk still regrets.
i actually CRIED when i saw admiral choi kill the moon spirit 😭😭😭😭 the world is just such a beautiful place i was horrified at the very idea of losing the moon
The koi fish spirit monster is made entirely of light and water, and is the wrath of the ocean in physical form.
The wrath of the Ocean Spirit can only be calmed when the Moon Spirit returns.
My favorite line that still gives me chills “No it is not over”💙💙

I have watched this show dozens of times and I am only just now realizing that Yue is the only one whose eyes keep their color when the moon spirit is killed and everything goes black and white. Because she has part of the moon spirit. Holy shit this show is incredible
we saw zuko’s sister earlier in the storm episode in the scene where their dad burns zuko’s face

This finale is always so sick to watch (or rewatch)
The cool stuff with the colours/animation, so creative
Uncle Iroh's rage at Zhao for going so far as to mess with spirits
Aang's interesting experience in the Spirit Realm, with Koh and everything
Aang's fury as he became the big blue turquoise jelly fish and knocked out an entire army
The Katara vs Zuko fight
Yue's sacrifice
And the absolutely iconic Azula reveal at the very end (what a way to end a season)
yeah Ozai saying „your sister is lucky you are lucky to be born“ is a craaazy burn (pun intended) 😂 Yue's sacrifice will never not be sad.. bro poor Sokka.
Zhao not taking Zuko's hand in the end showed his pride. Zhao just said to Zuko that he simply should've accepted his failure after failing to capture the Avatar and that's what Zhao ultimately did when he was taken by the Spirit, he accepted his failure and decided to accept his fate even If that meant death. Also shows a lot about Zuko's morality. He did not like Zhao and a lot of things would be easier If Zhao was gone plus he just tried to have him murdered yet without thinking about it for one second Zuko reached out to grab him and offered to save his ass. Big moment in my opinion, truly shows you what Zuko's made of

You're correct, it is Aang and the Ocean Spirit together that created that giant water monster. Remember, the moon was taken out, so water bending isn't possible at that time. He's not water bending. He's channeling the Ocean Spirit's power to do that.
Roku's warning about Koh was SO ominous here. You really took Roku's words to heart.

It’s crazy how excellent this show was when it first came out 19 yrs ago and still is to this day, it only gets better going forward. can’t wait for yall to get into book 2 and meet my favourite character (toph) ur reactions have been so fun!
Ye, and they are making new Avatar animated series. And also an animated movie about Aang and the crew in their 20s or 30s im not sure

So excited for you guys to start book 2! Book 1 does a great job setting everything up, establishing characters and stakes, but it’s still finding its footing as a show and has a couple clumsy narrative points. Book 2 takes it all up a notch and really shows the vision for the series. Hope you’re enjoying it all so far!

Totally agree I've always found Koh so creepy and wondered how Aang could stay so neutral. Re-watching with you guys, it occurred to me that maybe Zuff's got the right idea except that his ability to stay calm isn't because he's the avatar but because he's an airbender. The airbenders are supposed to be very spiritual and practice a lot of meditation so maybe Aang is tapping into that to distance himself from his emotions and keep that calm? Just a theory but anyway thanks for the reaction!

If you want to know what happend to Zhao you’ll have to watch the legend of Korra. The show is 100% worth it but there will be people in book 3 that will try to make you not watch it. I promise as a hater at the beginning it is so worth it! It is an amazing story on its own! :)

I believe Yue’s story was in some part inspired by the Japanese folktale The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter which is about a moon prince who is raised by humans and in the end she returns to the moon.

Tbh I'm not enjoying the reactions that much, bc Rob is the one reacting the most outspoken, yet he already saw the whole series before. Bryce has some reaction, but Zach doesn't seem to be thrilled by the story at all. Idk they don't seem too enthusiastic about the series... And it feels extra painful bc all of Rob's commentary seems like filler
The eye rolling is for sure a facial tic. He’s not actually rolling his eyes at it, he does that in every video at random times, all the time. Not to say some of his reactions aren’t super engaging, but it’s kind of how all their videos go.
In the beginning i would 100% agree but Zach has came around i do think he was not into the show and was mostly hating on it but he is definitely into it now. He is making predictions on what he wants to see now not just saying things to talk like the beginning 🤣 give them time i am sure they will have more to say in book 2/3. If they do korra im sure they will all have lots to say!
