hey man, does the Stark Level R ever get sticky? I effed up and bought 3m wax and compound all in one and my gelcoat is literally sucking it up and makin my wool pad stick like crazy.. I only did a couple of spots and giving up with the 3m dual purpose. my gel coat is sucking the compound up big time it seems. will stark help me get me back on track? thanks man

I see starke has level R and then restructure. What do you recommend for a heavy oxi boat. I have already wet sanded with 1500

LevelR says it will do post wet sanding, I’ve had limited results since it diminishes almost a little too quickly. I use Total Boat’s Total Buff for a post wet sanding. Starke Level R may work post wet sand, but I didn’t like how much wet sanding ghosting was polished in. I am a Level R fan since you can push the boundaries of skipping a wet sand and achieve amazing deep gloss with phenomenal results.

Cheers for the review mate, thoughts on 3M super duty ?

I tried 3M Super Duty a few years ago. It worked well but was so aggressive that it left the gel coat dull, which required at least 2 more polishing steps to make the boat shine, and occasionally on very porous gel coat, it left a brown tint.
One of the great things about Level-R is that it turns a 3 step process into a 2 step.

I'd add that super duty wouldn't be used on this level of oxidation but that if needed, can almost finish clean if used correctly. The following compounds used will remove any color left by Super Duty and it leaves color much less than 3M's Restorer Wax, yuck.

      As an example.

Also, do you know if Level R is water based?

I don't know if Starke level R is water based, but I do know it work's great, and so does Starke Elevate medium cut

If not, you had best wash the boat with alcohol or soap and water before applying ANY protectant to it or it too will fail (oils seperating the gelcoat from the polish/wax/sealant/ceramic (this boat is too old for a ceramic coating) isn't helpful to the longevity of the product used.
