Moira schearer has the grace, elegance . she can dance everything, she'S still is the elegance herself. wonderful. in the tales of hoffman, she dance like, duno, just magic.
@@auletjohnast03638 why do you say so? I'm no expert, but I always thought she was an excellent dancer, pretty, elegant, stylish. Am I missing something?
Ooh yeah!! She rocked!! :) LOVED her ballet work, adore her doing this, :D as well!! Awesome!! Plus, hey, she was a fellow redhead, too!!! :) Gotta love!!!
Speaking of female perfection, in the 1920's the Charleston was banned in many dance halls because it had the potential of showing too much of that female perfection. Female perfection could never be denied, especially in Moira's case.
She's beautiful she's wonderful she has gorgeous legs but she has knows nothing about the Charleston a ballet dancer into a Charleston chick. About 20-30 years ago Michelle Baryshnikov decided to take up tap dancing but it just couldn't really look like a tap dancer it's a whole different body movement but boy I still love more share wonderful
Highly recommended: Michael Powell's "A Life IN Movies" (1986). Moira (pronounced "Moy-rah") is it (everyone is!). Warning: Knopf's editor didn't give a damn about event date accuracy.
Powell didn't give many damns either. That sprawling saga is about as reliable as Sternberg's Fun in a Chinese Laundry or The Two of Us by Cyd Charisse and Tony Martin.
Shearer is a beauty nonpareil and elegant, but compared with Ginger Rodgers or Joan Crawford or Josephine Bakers, she's too slow and inhibited. The charleston is an explosion of ENERGY. Prim and proper have their place, but not in the charleston.
@@frankfarrar4877 There was a lot of politics in ballet. Still is. The English establishment was jealous at the fame Moira gained in the United States, particularly after the Red Shoes film. There was a lot of spite directed at Moira at the time, but probably by the ballet establishment, not Fonteyn herself.
That’s how a ballet dancer does it! Whimsically, athletically and with poise and grace!
You are totally right, Moira was an angel.

What a revelation, after seeing her ballet work, to watch her do the Charleston. To borrow a line from "The Red Shoes," she was poetry in motion.
Rafael Storm, Poetry my ass, she was horrible.

@@robertstone8852 he's probably a fan of that scrawny bitch, Margot Fonteyn

What a wonderful dancer. Her moves are spectacular.
Wow, Moira is so gorgeous, she looks and dance like an angel, Ludovic was a very lucky man.
She is wonderful. a fantastic dancer.. No talent like her today..
Her long, lean, narrow body looks so good in the dresses of that time. Those dresses are not forgiving of most bodies. Wonderful!
Stunning woman. Beautiful dancer
What a great dancer! This is so fun to watch. :)

One of the greatest ballet dancer of all times well know for her roles in The Red Shoes, tales of Hoffman and Three Love Stories.
And Peeping Tom.
Those graceful arm movements are an added bonus.
That is artistic and female perfection.

In the distance shots she reminds me of VivienLeigh.
that is what the great gatsby should look like

it's been 30 years (film "The Man Who Loved Redheads" starred in 1955) after Charleston went out style.
I understand why Ludovic fell in love.
Yes, he was a very lucky man.
Stunning, incredible dancer.
She could've had a great career in movies had she really wanted it.
@nelohagen The Man Who Loved Redheads
spectacular!
That’s actual real dancing.

Where can I find a video of her dancing the Sleeping Beauty Aurora duet in the same movie?
Where platform can I see this movie? Only dvd?
Silly dance, but she’s marvelous.
You just have no style
What year was this movie from?
It's fairly outrageous, you can see how aroused he is getting - and she is fully aware.
Like all real woman's.
Eh, this doesn't compare to Ginger Rogers Charleston from Roxie Hart.
How shocking and scandalous!

Better than Fonteyn for sure. Still, the Queen was a friend of Fonteyn and gave her a Dame. Moira got nothing.
Sorry not better than Fonteyn just different.

@@peace-now No, as Fonteyn was godmother to her daughter Ailsa.
