I understand how it could be perceived as cowardly however as a person that has come out later in life and has had multiple girlfriends prior to, it’s unfair to judge what that person does as cowardly when society-at-large, religion and family casts you aside when you come out. Families disown their gay family members. Society places a premium on heterosexuality and looks down on relationships that don’t fit the norm. And religious texts forbid same sex relationships! People have mental breakdowns, start abusing substances and worse try to end their existence because of mounting outside pressures! It actually is quite the opposite - for a person to rise up against all of that and still tell their truth is brave. Not cowardly! The pressure to be straight and fit in is why gay people move that way. Now it’s not right to deceive and string someone along into believing something that isn’t true. You have a point there. It’s damaging to bring someone else into something you are figuring out too. However, how about judging and condemning the systems that make it hard if not impossible for people to feel comfortable and safe coming out.
