I really love you! You remind me of my Mom who is with Christ Jesus now. She was really the driving force to my "cooking" such as it is. Your recipes are GREAT!
Great recipe. Nice. I do not recall ordering them at Howard Johnson's but it was my absolute favorite place. They had the cone shaped ice cream scoop. A few times I had to go to the hospital for tests when I was a kid and had to fast for a few days. My mom would take my out to eat on the way home. Going out to eat was a rare occasion but I would always pick Howard Johnson's. Thanks for the recipe and nice show.
Gama, you did that recipe up!!! I just made mine, followed your recipe to the "T". It is soooo good. I made a plate for my Pastor for tonights bible study. The only variation I did was I did not have green beans so I made broccoli. It was excellent. Thank you so much. I cant wait to try your next blue plate special.. :)
I was delighted to find this. Is it possible you would have the spaghetti sauce recipe that howards Johnson used? I have tried for fifty years to have a plate of their spaghetti one more time. Thanks.
Wow! This takes me back to when I was a child, and my mom and dad would take me a dinner on Friday nights. I loved chicken croquette. Really enjoy your spirit and will be cooking this tonight for dinner.
Looks fabulous! Would have loved to see the inside texture on camera after cooking them, do they stay firm? keep up the great videos. I remember HoJo's ice cream when we'd travel on vacations in my younger years. Great memories. Thank you.
I remember Howard Johnson's well. Never had the croquettes there but they use to sell their frozen ice cream and some entrees in the restaurants and my favorite was the croquettes. Thank you for remembering to use the cream of chicken soup instead of all the work of making a white sauce. I plan on trying your recipe very soon. I am so glad I found your webb site.
Thanks, for this OLD recipe...lol...I always went to Howard Johnson FOR their chicken croquettes AND great ice cream! Before we had Haagen Daas all over! Delicious croquettes!! Thank you...
We had a Howard Johnson's near our home. They advertised something like "52 flavors" of ice cream, too. I can't wait to make these chicken croquettes! Thanks!
Our Mom would make ham crouquettes from leftovers. One of my favorite meals as a child. And once in awhile they would stop at Howard Johnson's, but I don't remember these. Look delious!
Yes! I remember Howard Johnsons! LOL! These are so easy and look delicious. Nice hearty meal. Great series!!! I would love to hear how the fryer worked out for you.
Some great Memories of Family Trips and staying at Howard Johnson’s… Swimming in the Pool and Eating Chicken Croquettes at their Restaurant, of course!
I'm making these tomorrow for supper. I just roasted the chicken for it so I can put it together for the next day. Hojos was my favorite. They used to sell frozen croquettes but after they closed their off the market.
I Would love to learn How to make Homemade Cream Chip Beef Also, I use to love the Cafeteria inside the Walmart they would have Peach, Cherry Turnovers & Savory ones Do you remember the Cafeteria Also chicken & dumplings
I remember taking myself downtown Chicago, when I was 13 to lunch on State St. going to restaurant with white table cloths ordering the chicken croquettes. It came with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables and gravy on the potatoes and croquettes. They were shaped like round pyramids.
I used to love eating at Howard Johnson's with my grandparents, but I always got fried clams. After looking at several old Ho Jo menus I couldn't find any croquettes. I wonder if they were offered as a daily special to use up leftover chicken or turkey. Anyway thank you for posting this ...you rock grandma cc!
I remember HOJOs. We would go there sometimes for Sunday dinner. I also remember years later , I think it was Banquet brand, Chicken Croquette that was kind of shaped like a cone not a ball. For frozen they were not bad. My brother asked me to bring him a package from Philly to Fl in the late 80's b/c he couldn't find them in FL. Now I can't find them where I live. BTW I tried this with a little tweaking and did them flat b/c I don't have a deep fryer. They came out pretty good for me anyways...
Hi, Very happy about the old school video. I remember very well Howard Johnsons diner back home. And I'll try anything you post, and just the way you do it. I also sweat my celery, peppers, and onions in the microwave now too. Much better in my chicken salads also. Thanks Again
Hey, CC! Second time viewing this & I believe that I will make chicken croquettes flat like salmon ones & fry them in a touch of butter & olive oil or butter spray in a fry pan. Yours look yummy; however, I would like to cut the fat content as low as possible. I have a large chicken breast all cooked, so tomorrow will be "the experiment"! God bless!
I am that old. Ho Jo's chicken crocquettes were so delicious.
