So Nintendo won’t reveal the switch because it won’t affect people either way, then why delay it as well, if x amount of people will buy it regardless why wait to delay it when everyone knows it’s coming Seems like a cop out to double dip, get people who will still buy the old model during the holidays and later on will buy the new switch rather than they hold out for the new switch if it gets announced early
I think if we get anything this year it will be a brief teaser trailer with an official reveal date and that is it. Personally my bet is we'll get a first look/reveal in January followed by an in depth look as the main focus of the February Direct.
My personal opinion about when they’re going to do, it is after Christmas has done its thing and New Year’s is just around the corner like maybe one or two days before the new year, thus making it where it would not affect anything

Sereral possible reasons: 1. Time from reveal to launch (to much time in between makes people forget about it - having long breaks between meaningful announcements makes the hype less) 2. Being the largest thing on peoples minds. (Most people celebrate Christmas+ new year with family and thus are busy with their family or playing their Christmas gifts. Your mind will not be thinking of switch 2 hype when attending Christmas dinner, or popping in that new game you just got for Christmas. Family dinners are also generally not the time to talk about video games, so word of mouth spread will also be less.) Its just better to wait from a marketing perspective and not have your biggest hype generating moment around the Hollidays
I thought Sega was a big company for Christmas time. In the '90s the SNES was the stuff your parents bought for you. And the Genesis stuff was the stuff you bought yourself. I remember Nintendo was ahead from February to August and Sega was ahead from September to January. No duh that the market has changed a lot since the 16-bit days but I thought Nintendo was fiscally better away from the holidays than they were during the holidays.
As we head towards hardware singularity, I think it is an excellent choice for Nintendo to have backwards compatibility. Graphics are not as important. Most importantly, games would be fun and free from the silly nonsense that plagues current AAAs.
When you drag out making games from old, you drag out hardware, and then you have to firmly but politely inform what you think is right even tho it’s not. 🤷🏼♂️
I look forward to the Switch 2 and hopefully it will bring other 3rd party companies to bring over games not seen in the west or remaster more classics
I think now we won't get the new console until Q4 2025 at the earliest with a teaser in jan/feb and a full reveal in march. But they should have definitey announced it this year with release this month to get all the chrismas sales. A "switch 2 would have been this Christmas must have item.
It may as well be about 2 and 1/2 times more powerful than the original switch, especially considering that ps5 has already been out for about 3 years.
Interesting information Sir. However, I do think a key point was either forgotten by accident or by design. The biggest reason why Nintendo is saying the impact of releasing at Christmas won't make much difference is the current state of the economy. It was stated that many people have a Switch but the opposite is also true that many don't. From a marketing standpoint Christmas is for kids. Which means not every kid wants a Switch under the tree. Things are getting tougher for most which simply means people are getting poorer, Nintendo realizes this so why say it.
You can make videos about the new switch all you want I don't mind talking and hearing about it...😅... but it's going to be awesome for sure when we finally see the new product...

I think early adapters are already waiting for the new console regardless. So I don’t think it would make much difference.

Whatever the quality of the reason, Nintendo is postponing too much. This raises expectations to extreme heights, which is almost a guarantee for disappointment. Metroid Prime 4 is going on two decades into development and still nothing is confirmed except 2025.

The old Switch's Nintendo Switch Online was released a year after the Switch (released in Mar. 3, 2017). Do you remember that? Well, I wouldn't be surprised if they (Nintendo) did the same thing to the Switch 2's Nintendo Switch Online. So on the old Switch's Nintendo Switch Online, the original Super Smash Bros for N64 still has a chance for the old Switch's Nintendo Switch Online. (That is, at least before the successor which is the Switch 2's Nintendo Switch Online.)
