I have not listened to this in like 30 years. Yet, I knew and sang along with every word. Music and words that are timeless.
I can recall lyrics of songs I didn’t even like back then….…but can’t remember where I put my keys….power of music.

BOB had a lot of MAJOR Hits in the 1970s ALOT,
THATS Little David Hood on bass. He's the only living member of the Legendary Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section spent more time working with Bob than anyone else. The late Glenn Frey was next in line. Funny that 2 Wolverines would come to Alabama and make a TON of money making music!
This is off the album A Stranger in Town. This is all time favorite album of his. He has a lot of songs with his background singers. Hard to believe he has been in my life for 50 years

Yes and No...that is a bit of a common misconception about the song. It’s really more about two lonely people needing more and hoping to find. [Lets take a chance...Let’s find a way]...the “We’ve got tonight” is really the impetus for “take a chance”. If things don’t actually go further, they can at least enjoy the moment. “Both of us lonely” [so what do they really have to lose?]
I would marry this man, still to this day.

@@wobblebottom101 The Late Pete Carr stole the show on "Main Street" with his amazing guitar work. Pete was also the Producer on that one. Bob and the Swampers had a great formula for success during that ten year run. When Barry Beckett and Bob left the little studio in Alabama and moved a hundred miles north to Nashville, they still made really good music but it lacked the Magic they had before.
Saw him live about 6 yrs ago! What a great show. Still sounded the same.. He never lost that patented voice.. He just now retired from the concert world about a year ago. He entertained us for more than 5 decades.. A good ol' Michigan boy! ;-)
Aaaaaaah MAN, couldn't believe my eyes, that u got around to listening to THAT GEM OF A SONG!!! I can not even come to know, just how many times I use to play that song on my stereo. I am sooooo obsessed w/that song & also Bob's voice singing it. Kenny Rogers & Sheena Easton did pretty good covering it, BUT..... not if one already heard the original artist. This is off Stranger in Town album. Whole album is great. My first Bob Seger concert I was 17. The lights dimmed, one spotlight on a grand piano and there he was playing and singing this song! It was incredible. I will never forget it.
Bob Seger is such a great artist. "Turn The Page" could be a somewhat autobiographical story of life on the road as a musician, later covered by the late Australian artist Jon English and later still by Metallica - both fantastic renditions of an already awesome track.
“Roll Me Away” is my favorite Seger song! So beautiful, inspiring, and uplifting!

Bob. An incredible writer/performer. Glad I had the chance to see him before he retired. There’s another tune you might be familiar with, but he only co-wrote: “Shakedown”. The music was written mostly by Harold Faltermeyer and Keith Forsey for the soundtrack of Beverly Hills Cop II. Bob Seger wrote the lyrics. The song became Bob Seger’s only number 1 single. It’s fantastic and highly recommend. “Shakedown”

I love how you react after every phrase in that first verse. Such power in that restraint, right? Very affecting, and effective. Love songs like this that have genuine expression, aren't over-produced or overdone. They're just honest, with great melodies, and a fantastic vocal performance.

I'm with you there, my friend. I have always loved this song. It was covered a few years later by Kenny Rogers and Sheena Easton and was a hit then as well. With all due respect to the talents of those singers, I've always been partial to Bob Seger's original version. So soulful. He conveys such weariness and loneliness in this song that it's just moving to me.
