    So many wonderful needlework pieces that you share. You keep me interested and wanting to get into silk and gauze again. You share so many wonderful books and I have been buying quite a few. I’m so hoping that 2022 that Covid is more under control so that old geezers like myself feel comfortable enough to attend. I would love the atmosphere and all of the stitchers and Flosstubers there! I’m saving my dollars to buy more stash in hopes of being able to attend.

    I love that you take us beyond cross stiching into the amazing world of needle and thread crafts!!! I like doing blackwork and I would love to delve into embroidery someday. You are so knowledgeable and passionate about stiching and I appreciate your sharing! All your work is breathtaking and it inspires me! Thanks Arlene, hope you have a great week!

      Thank you so much for your kind words - I'm so glad you enjoyed what I shared today. Definitely outside the cross stitch wheelhouse, but I was hoping there would be some people interested :-)

    Hi Arlene! Your videos are always a treat… I watch very few flosstube channels, and favour yours because of the educational values.
    All your pieces were fantastic, in particular the Or Nué and Portuguese Whitework - I love bullion knots and was impressed by how consistent and plump yours are❣️
    Looking forward to your pattern unveiling in a few weeks.
    Happy stitching from the UK… 🌻

      Thank you so much! I know what I did today was pretty far outside the typical cross stitch Flosstube pattern, but I was hoping to find some folks that would be interested. I appreciate your kind words!

    😲 Tried to find a “jaw drop” emoji! Like the previous commenter said! It’s hard to find words to convey how impressive your diverse collection of needlework projects is! I love the challenges you have given yourself and how you are stretching your own boundaries! Thanks so much for sharing!

      Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the variety of stitching that I shared - wasn't sure how many would, given that today's video moved pretty far outside the typical cross stitch wheelhouse. But, that's what makes our Flosstube community so great - finding people who enjoy what we enjoy!

    I have the RSN book and it's amazing. I hardly dare look at it, because it makes me want to do all the things.

    • @worksbyabc
      @worksbyabc  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, absolutely, do all the things! At the very least, spend some time with the book and add the "I want to do that" projects to the "must do this before I die" list. At least, that's what I do! 😜

    I was in Paris traveling by myself at the ripe old age of 22. I was going to go over to England but couldn’t find transportation because everything was full. I never even got to watch the wedding. No internet. No cell phones. No television in my hostel. No regrets.

    • @worksbyabc
      @worksbyabc  3 роки тому

      I guess that wedding has become one of those "where were you" moments for many people...even if that "where were you" memory is of NOT seeing the wedding :-)

    Fabulous tour, love all your stitched examples. And now i'm tempted to try some silk gauze because i've got some gorgeous florals from The Silver Lining but they are huge

    • @worksbyabc
      @worksbyabc  3 роки тому

      I had never heard about The Silver Lining before and just looked them it - beautiful designs! Here's what I suggest - find a small little cross stitch design, not too many colors, not too complex, and try that out on silk gauze. If you find you like working on it, then tackle the larger design. If not, well, no great loss!

    Hi Arlene! So good to see You and the tour de needlework! Everything that You've shown was magnificent! I especially Loved 💘 the Portuguese whitework piece that You made a little error on, which I know I wouldn't have realized that it was supposed to be 6 X 6 rows, lol just gorgeous truly! As I'm watching You I am actually finally Stitching My Heirloom Lace pattern that I won from You last year- I was so excited about it from before it hit the shop and couldn't wait to start but alas, it took 4 months for my fabric to arrive from silkweavers, I didn't mind waiting for what I wanted but when it got here, I was so disappointed in the color, nothing near what it was supposed to be- I was bummed for months searching out fabrics. Found some 2 weeks ago, started Stitching on 7/25 and I'm loving every stitch, I never knew about floche and I'm in love with it that I have another pattern of yours that I'm going to do in, not regular dmc, can't wait to see more from You! Yes, I was surprised that You did a reproduction but clearly, You can do anything! Sorry so long, Thank You for Sharing- one quick question, Is the tent stitch the second leg only of a cross or the first, does it make a difference to the design, I want it to turn out great!?😊

    • @worksbyabc
      @worksbyabc  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, Marie - Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed seeing what I had to share today. I'm really sorry to know about the unhappiness with the silk weaver fabric, but am so glad that you found something you like! As for your tent stitch question: whether you call it the first leg of a cross stitch or the second kind of depends on which way you cross your X's! I personally do a tent stitch by going from lower left to upper right (or upper right to lower left, depending which overall direction I'm stitching), mostly because that's how I see it diagrammed in books and such. Truthfully, though, you could do whatever you want - it's your stitching! Have a great day!

    • @MarieH528
      @MarieH528 3 роки тому

      @@worksbyabc Oh, that’s the way I cross too! Okay easy peasy! Thank You 😊 btw-The stitching is so intuitive, I haven’t skipped a day without touching it! There was one more thing that went bad before-lol, I didn’t realize that the hank of floche was wound like yarn hanks and I ended up with a major rats nest-I managed to salvage some of it but last year when I kitted up, I purchased 3 hanks to be on the safe side so all is well now!! Re: silk weavers fabric, it’s beautiful and I certainly have plans to use it( on one of your other patterns that I have) it’s the color that bummed me.

    Arlene, pls check this out. 'Tekad' is a kind of Malaysia gold work. Strands of gold thread is sewn over a pattern made out of cards. Very interesting. I went to tekad classes during my schooldays many many years ago.

      Very interesting! I did indeed check it out. Where are you such that you took classes years ago? I'm assuming Malaysia, but just wondering. The more I poke around online, the more stitching techniques there are out there to discover!

    This was really interesting. I have heard of most of the techniques of different Needlework, but just having short descriptions I could not work out what it meant. Having you show things you have tried out with the right book with the name of what it is was helpful and gave me more insight. Thank you for sharing this.
    Looking forward to what you are releasing for the expo 😊💜

    Hi Arlene, thanks for a wonderful video. I love hearing about all of the different styles of needlework that you have done or plan to do ! Personally I would love to see a top 10 of patterns you want to do , no matter what style of stitching they are. Have you done anything from Inspirations Magazine ? I know you get them, I have so many things earmarked and have yet to do one. Watching this has certainly encouraged me to go and have another look at my bookcase and my stash of threads, thanks for always inspiring others. Take care Ali xx

    • @worksbyabc
      @worksbyabc  3 роки тому +1

      Ali, it is truly like our minds are connected! Yesterday, I opened an email from Inspirations - I get their weekly newsletters, but, I admit, haven't read them in some time. But, decided to yesterday. And some things in there reminded me of something and I pulled out one particular issue that had this blackwork flower that I've always wanted to do. Spent some time yesterday obsessing over threads and such - and it may be something that I start soon. But, literally, I have not touched Inspirations magazine, their projects, their website, in forever. Now, of course, I'm feeling the need to go through the issues I have and start marking out the pieces I am most interested in, thanks to you. I think one year I did get a subscription, but the issues I have are mostly specific ones that had something I was interested in. And, thanks for the idea of top 10 patterns video! Hope all is well in your world! Arlene :-)

      @@worksbyabc everything is wonderful, after this message I went through a lot of my issues here. Numberering around the 40 mark and looked out some patterns to start with. Thanks for the ongoing inspiration. I feel less scared to tackle new things as I age which is an interesting concept. Happy stitching to you. xx

    What will you do with the high count silk gauzes... piss people off by stitching on them!

      Nah, no one cares what I do on those high count. I think I'll stitch up a sampler on 120 ct to give to a friend who is starting a new dollhouse hobby 😜
