Bob Wootton... what an underrated legend on guitar! His contribution to Cash’s career was massive, and not talked about enough! RIP Bob, WS, and John R Cash. Fantastic performance by a legendary artist and his great band!
Id argue that Luther Perkins was more influential, seen as he played on most all of his famous records, as well as bascially creating the boom-chicka-boom sound cash was known for.
@@philipshoebuckle2498 Yes. Luther was there from the beginning giving Cash his unique sound. Bob did a good job taking over after Luther's passing but it was never quite the same.
I was at this concert at the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium! I got to see everyone from Aretha Franklin to the Kinks. But seeing the Man In Black perform was the highlight for me!! LEGEND!!!
This video has been doctored. I Saw the whole concert live on HBO the day it happened and he was the only one not introduced. They just went right into to Folsom. The crowd didn't need to be told who it was on stage. They already knew. He said "Hello I'm Johnny Cash" after Folsom and before doing Ring of Fire with Mellencamp.
I was there and I didn’t remember that either. But I had been drinking all the live long day on a boat on Lake Erie watching the Cleveland Air Show before the concert and my memory can’t be trusted. The way I recall was. He had his back to the crowd and hit the first 3 notes on his guitar and everyone knew who it was.
Cool! Interesting! I have seen quite a few concerts by him, and it is very often the other way around. He opens with 'Ring of fire'. Then he says: Hello, I'm Johnny Cash! And straight into 'Folsom prison blues'.
I was there....Because I had a lighter, I got to smoke a joint backstage with Greg Allman, Clarence Clemons and James Brown....I never did get my lighter back..
I like Cash but he has nothing to do with Rock n' Roll. He should have declined like Dolly Parton did. Much respect to Dolly. The refuse all these classic Rock artists by induct Country and this noise called "Rap", which has nothing to do with Rock n' Roll.
Johnny Cash has everything to do with Rock n' Roll. His music has influenced multiple genres, from Rap to Heavy Metal. Rock n' Roll is a massive spectrum and other genres such as "Rap" and many many others have played a HUGE part in shaping on what Rock n' Roll is today!
Look children it's one of the Founding Fathers of Rock and Roll
@@Clemenssnemelc Rockabilly is an early form of rock n roll.

Cash's music wasn't exactly Country. It was like a rockabilly-folk style with some gospel and country influences...
