    Living in a mostly white town I get a lot of people telling me I should just grow out an Afro, with them having no clue the amount of time and effort it takes to properly grow and maintain one. Like no thanks I’ll stick to my locs

    I think this changes a lot based on your hair type.
    For me with 4c, twists and box braids last a long time, they’re not really high maintenance.
    For me to rock a fro, I would be having to stretch out my hair every couple days which would be a lot of work. Other people with a looser hair texture could keep the volume on their fro with less work.

    Hey man i just wanted to say i really appreciate the wide variety of hairstyles you mentioned in the video, theres not a whole lot of self care videos for black men, and a lot of the ones that DO exist are really surface level, i've NEVER seen this type of video mention freeform locs before,(i've been letting my hair lock up for about 6 months now!!), and the clips you showed of people with freeform locs were of people who are important in the loc community (zayloc23, DOMI boy, even Bamskelly in the thumbnail), i know it's a pretty small thing but most "looksmaxxing" content looks, feels, and sounds the same. So to me that just shows a greater attention to detail than basically any other looksmaxxing video ive ever seen, it also shows that youre ACTUALLY of our culture and black cause most "looksmaxxing videos for black men" aren't BY black men, and that doesnt make a whole lot of sense. So again, i just wanted to say i appreciate you and keep up the good work!! Youre making great stuff!!

    If you know how to do finger coils, they can take about maybe 45 minutes, and they can really last you for about two weeks if you do them correctly. There’s a learning curve with finger coils. Finger coils are my go-to style whenever I want my hair to have more shrinkage and look a bit more controlled.

    • @BroMaxxing
      @BroMaxxing  7 місяців тому +2

      What length are we talking here? I've seen someone prpfessionally get finger coils done on maybe 5 inch long hair and it took like 2 hours. Also it looks ass so there's no point in getting em

    • @busbypre
      @busbypre 7 місяців тому +6

      @@BroMaxxing I’m not sure about the length but I think my hair is about 4 inches the first time I tried them (it took forever to do). I didn’t start doing them on a regular basis until my hair got past my ears because I don’t like the feeling of hair touching my ears. I found that if the finger coils are smaller and aren’t as tight, they come out looking like really well defined curls. I’ve seen a lot of Brazilian guys style their hair that way.

    I had dreads throughout my entire 20's the front came down to my waist and the back to my butt, when I turn 30 I cut them, not necessarily because I was tired of them but because it seem like they just started to disappear in the front and back! It's weird because my hair wasn't falling out (no receding hairline) 🤔 in fact when I cut them I literally had a mini bush! Which was by far the *HARDEST* style to maintain and grow 😩 every morning it took almost a hr to get right and then you had to be careful constantly checking on it throughout the day!

    Outside of a brush cut or fade all other black hairstyles are high maintenance.

    lol even on UA-cam they use Assan photo (a French tiktoker) he is angry because in the hairstyle videos for black people there is always his head in the afro category it has become the same and he laughs about it so he won't be mad if you use his photo so it's chill

    With all due respect waves has to be higher if you want prestine waves atleast 4 hours minmum of total brushing daily then you add moisturizing and washing every other day i mean thorough washing due to the amount of oils and ,moisturizers anybody who have waves knows what it feels its not a oh ill dedicate weekends no its every damn day

  • @Sendittothemoon

    Plats is the proper term I don’t think the men version counts as box braids, but they r not high maintenance they last long as fuck, been having that since I was a teen. Locs not high maintenance at all, neither is a fro. Long curls r probably the most annoying to maintain.

  • @xollaj
    @xollaj 5 місяців тому

    bro you can have twists in for a month or two and by the time you said they get old or big, you do a twist out which basically looks like locs so having to go salon every month or so aint even that deep

  • @thesharinganknight

    I had 180 and 360 waves, had boxed braids, and now have 540 waves, waves are its definitely S tier, its CONSTANT brushing if you want elite waves, and that months to even have ripples in your hair starting from bald. Even the casual guy that has not so good waves will have to put in work to even see something.
    It’s like the quintessential high maintenance haircut for black men.
    I think boxed braids are like B tier and also dreads, because both are protective hairstyles. You aren’t supposed to touch your hair. That right there is a contradiction in my opinion.

    • @BroMaxxing
      @BroMaxxing  6 місяців тому +1

      Thats facts I knew I might've underestimated waves because I've never had them before I just see people always having to brush them for it to look good. You also might be right about box braids but for locs it's high maintenance IF you want them to look really clean which I specified in the vide. I said they can be low if you're not getting haircuts and retwists often but maybe I'm wrong. Locs are also not a protective style and I don't understand where the contradiction is.

  • @Itsszion

    Waves are in S tier, not too many styles have to be touched every single day like waves tbh.

    I’m not a guy but that low cut doesn’t seem like low maintenance to me. I have guy friends with that style who go to the barbershop every week for a haircut other their curls grow in. To me that sounds like a PITA as far as time and money goes.

    Twists aint really high maintenance 5 min wake up routine and that's it, and they look better with time. They only start looking bad towards the end of their lifetime, so towards the latter of like 2 weeks. But a retwist and you good
