    This is in no way the first fictional coding language, for example, the cutscene sort of thing when your hacking into a terminal in fallout

    • @lurple_
      @lurple_  3 місяці тому

      In that sense there could be hundreds of fictional coding languages in games, if we count cutscenes that depict code being weitten, but I've always seen this types of depictions as you know smoking mirrors, they simulate something real, but with a tinge of fakeness, but what my goal is with this project is to make an experience as similar to real life coding as possible meaning that I'm making my own code editor and programming language, what makes them fictional is that they don't exist outside of the game they are included in.

      I just checked it out it looks really cool it looks way more complexed than anything I can come up with it's like an os simulation right very cool, and I'm sorry for neglected other more talented developers with same ideas as me, thanks for the comment.

    I know you probably made the title for clickbait, but this is not the first fictional PL by a long shot. And definitely not the last one. Also, there seemed to be some mistakes in terminology, for example, code editors and IDEs are not the same. But that's mostly on me, no one probably cares. And the chapters seemed a bit short to deserve those animations. The video seemed too split up and off topic.
    I mean this well, though. I'm writing this just from the viewer's perspective and what I'd like to see improve.
    Definitely continue with the art style, I loved that. And the vid was great overall.

      Thank you I appreciate all the criticisms, I didn't mean to make the title a clickbait it was the byproduct of my lackluster research, I also agree that the chapters we're pretty short, I'll try my best to improve my research and every other aspect of my videos, thank you for your comment it was very well put together and pointed out some important stuff about the video, appreciate it.

    So it is a scripting language for use in a game, Not unique

    • @lurple_
      @lurple_  3 місяці тому

      Yup it's just a programming language I'm writing which you use only inside of the games also fictional code editor, to basically control robots in a lot of different ways, it's okay if you don't find my games concept interesting, you don't have to play and interact with it ever, everyone has their own preferences, if this isn't a you thing fair enough.

    Isn't this just programming language with extra steps? In games such as Shenzhen I/O, Exapunks, and in some ways Baba Is You, Turing Complete, Alan's Automation Workshop and similar, there are programming languages that are implemented purely in the game, but these aren't really referred to as "Fictional", they're (with some exeptions, Baba Is You in particular) mostly referred to as just normal programming languages. It's a cool fictional story behind it, but the language, if it exists even in the game, it's not really fictional.

    • @lurple_
      @lurple_  3 місяці тому +1

      I referred to "Sunshine" as a fictional language in a sense that it requires you to have an actual game open, so it's not just a language that you use in a code editor, rather it's tied to the game window, inside the game window you create in-game code editor and use a fictional programming language, it doesn't exist outside of the game.

      @@lurple_ what you’re describing is exactly how it works in exapunks and shenzhen i/o. You should definitely check them out because they’re both excellent puzzle games and also great inspiration for your project. The world of “games that contain their own programming language with a manual and ide” is pretty small and there’s a lot of room to innovate. I think your idea of programming robots in a mine has a lot of potential and if you end up sticking it out, would be a great addition to the genre.

    we never get any syntax [i'd assume its for the game so we dont just become experts at a programming language before it even starts being usable].
    a concept like this cant be the first, it sounds too original at first but you notice
    programming languages are popular
    which means
    a lot of people would probably come up with the same idea.
    cool concept though.
    text is a bit unreadable in 144p but its fine for the most part.
    oh also nice animation 10/10
    edit 2: grammar is probably important

    • @lurple_
      @lurple_  3 місяці тому

      About the syntax, the project is pretty new for now I've been trying get the code editor you use inside the project to work properly, I've managed to finish that yesterday so now I'm fully working on the language, I'm planning on making a follow-up video that's more detailed (has less grammatical issues) and showcases the language as I develop it and the thought behind it's syntax, thanks for the comment.

    Where is the language?

    • @lurple_
      @lurple_  3 місяці тому

      The actual language is for now a concept yet to be developed upon, currently I'm wrapping up making my own code editor, which you use in-game to write code in the "sunshine" language, I'll showcase the language in my next video as I develop it, if you have coding experience just think of c# but without brackets rather arrows, a lot of equal signs and a very handy function called JumpTo, I'll let you figure out what that last function does on your one, also thanks for the comment I appreciate it :)

    • @lurple_
      @lurple_  3 місяці тому +3

      Actually I did try my best to look into any other fictional languages, unfortunately maybe I wasn't thorough enough in my research, I was under the understanding that my project was the first form of a fictional programming language, any other programming related game I've seen typically have some unique ways of programming, in my porject I am aiming create my own syntax, my own IDE, the gameplay will be fully about simulating real life programming in a fictional setting, I apologize if my title was misleading I didn't intend to overshadow any other developers work.
