I’ve been requested to do this subject so here it goes!!! Before this channel turns a year I’ll be doing some things that some viewers think I should elaborate on so I am doing exactly that! This week I’m doing faces in weird or extreme angles, and I’ll add something of my own as well.
See, the thing is that while I believe that it’s hard to learn how to draw heads at any angle, I think it’s even harder to draw your own character design at any angle, there’s a lot of proportions that are simply lost! That’s a nightmare to solve, but I believe that it can be done. I mean, every animator does it, so what is the trick?
Well, that’s what I intend to find out. Here are the tutorials :D

I just wanted to say that your videos are extremely informative, very original in approach and really entertaining. I love your 'process' videos, I love every trick you show and I think you are a lovely, funny and humble person. I watched your video about mouths and was blown away, than I checked out your channel and almost cried when I found this goldmine of knowledge. I subscribe to many drawing channels, but yours is my favourite!
:D :D :D THAT IS THE NICEST THING ANYONE EVER SAID TO ME!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! :D
Thank you for making this video! I have the opposite problem with heads-- I can draw downwards-facing heads quite well, but upwards is something I have struggled with for years!
Hey Javi on top of making great tutorials, you're awesome because you're so relatable. You get out there and share whatever knowledge you can with us while still relaying to us that you're not perfect at some stuff just as we are. It's so helpful for all these subs who look up to you as an artist because they can rest assured that even their most admired artists still struggle in one way or another.
Thanks so much! that was exactly what I was trying to achieve with this videos! I promise to return to make more soon!
ive been subbed awhile. you have improved so much in your videos, thanks you lending your time and energy to helping us.
Thanks so much!!! hopefully I'll keep improving :D
I loved this video! You gave us tips based on who you had looked at for help and then to top it off you showed us how you worked to improve, based on what you had learned. I learned so much, thank you.
That's awesome tope! I'm glad you got something out of the video :D
I love this video man! Your faces and expressions are so good. Drawing heads from all angles will always require a mental gear change from me. I try be gestural and quick, dancing around with the pen to get the whole pose to get the feel and emotion. But when I get to the head, I have to change my thinking from fast and gestural, to slow, analytical, volumetric and constructive. So I just leave landmarks like ears, nose and jaw line, so later I can fill it in. I'm still learning how to be gestural with the face, too. I subscribed and followed you on Instagram.
So useful! Thanks!
this helped a lot thank you so much
I just discovered your channel. I like the way you push yourself. Keep it up.
Thanks!!!
Great stuff Javi. I've been struggling with this a lot too. I think I'm going to put this one on auto-repeat. :)
Great! As you will see it was a bit of a challenge for me, and as challenge goes, this one is not my most successful one, but I think that the secret is hidden in here.
hello I just discovered your page and its awesome.
do you have videos for basics?
Hey!!! The most basic video I have is an intro to the human body, it is the second video on all the channel. go look for it!
u are so helpful man!!!
:D THANKS!
gracias por compartir tu conocimiento ;)
De nada, que bueno que te gusta! :D
thank you for this. u mean proko or draw with jazza?
I mixed them up! Sorry!
Could U do a video on how to draw buildings?
That's coming this year :D
Will there be one for drawing the body in all angles? or is that under a different name?
One of the first videos is about drawing the human figure, and there is also a video on foreshortening. Between those two you should be covered :D
Oh thanks
where are you from?
👍👍👍❤☺
Tried to pledge on patreon, but it rejected both my card and paypal???
That's ok, I'm actually taking it down because I won't be able to do videos for a while. I'll explain everything in a video tomorrow :D
❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Using the paper method had been the easiest method for doing this.
This is just a video with the worm and top view right?
well it was the most difficult for me, I still think that the lesson can be applied to other angles as well. choose your anchor! Maybe in angles where the nose is not prominent you can use the ears as the anchor, I have to try this and check it out!
are you from spain?
Argentina :D
Javi can draw! soy de Argentina! das clases en talleres? me gustaría asistir
you shouldput the links

WHAT the hell was that noise at 14:16!? lol scared me 😂
Lol it was a bike!!! even though I'm in a 9th floor some bikes can be pretty loud!
do you prefer life drawing or knowing anatomy? this topic is making me nuts.
In order to get your anatomy right, you need a lot of life drawing practice. But knowing anatomy should always be the goal. It's the only way you can start drawing people without reference.
thank you. Is anatomy a learning process or it should be mastered before jumping to any field? My field of choice is traditional animation right now can you give me few tips for this ?
Yes, go and get "Cartoon Animation" By Preston Blair. It is the animator's bible and teaches to approach anatomy not from a realistic point of view, but by using simple shapes tu give your characters volume. This will solve two problems: 1 - you will begin to approach anatomy from a shape/volume based point of view, which is absolutely necessary and 2- You will approach anatomy from the point of view that is most useful for an animator. If you know how to use google well, you can even get the book as a free download somewhere.
thank you for the tips .
