Update: I'm now caught up with Black Clover manga. I do agree on some of what you said. I still enjoying the story despite things. I was expecting the decline to turn me off, it surprisingly didn't. Not only that, I really came to respect Asta too. I do agree it's not perfect but I can honestly say most of the story I'm enjoying is a good sign. I didn't even think originally I would like stuff similar to this, man I was wrong.

You say that My Hero Academia has stakes because the lost in the first war arc, when the exact same thing happened in Black Clover. In the “Heart Kingdom joint struggle” arc (the last arc in the anime), Noelle and everyone in the heart kingdom lost to Vanica/Megicula and the heart queen was captured. Although Yami and Asta beat Dante, Yami was captured. Lastly, half the golden dawn was killed, and William was captured. You say that the conclusion of the spade arc was bad, and although I think it would have been better if it was longer, I think you are still stuck on the “Disney Clover” thing from when it released and haven’t reread it to form your own opinion, because I think the final fight with Asta, Yuno, Yami, and Nacht was quite good. You’re also forgetting that it was only 50% of Lucifero’s power, the clocks being tampered with throughout the fight, and the fact that Adrammalech was sitting there watching the entire time. It was clear that Lucífero was not the final villain of the series. Also you fail to acknowledge that Lucius was revealed in the next chapter (331) and the fact that Lucius was behind the entire War in spade. The chapter is literally titled “And Time Starts to Move” and Shonen Jump stated in some promo that he was behind the War. The entire anime community was extremely hype/switching up on black clover after this reveal, so I think you’re statement that people stopped caring once lucífero was defeated is very much untrue. I do agree with your reasons for its decline in popularity. Going on a 3 month hiatus to plan after the biggest reveal in the series definitely played a factor. Obviously having no anime for 4 years also has a negative impact. (The movie was canon but not a continuation of the anime) And the Jump Giga switch will most definitely kill the hype compared to a weekly series. However, the Jump Giga chapters have all been quite good (especially the art), and this final arc as a whole has been good and has a lot of potential. You say “nobodies talking about it” but if you read the series or were a part of the fandom you would see that a lot of people still are (not as much as before but still a lot). Because just knowing that the villain will end everything if they win isn't enough. That's been done too many times now. Death, although not always required, is one of the best ways to add stakes. It doesn't have to be like Akame Ga Kill or JJk of course, but you can't blame people for starting to lose interest when things started going the hero's way at every turn. There wasn't many consequences despite that arc being a war arc. Heroes will always win we know that, but it's ho they in that matters. What you described in your comment, is not enough to create high stakes as you imagined. I will repeat again, death isn't required but still one of the most effective ways to establish stakes. The enemy being strong and threatening to end the world is too boring. Morris ended being a heavily wasted character that had so much potential. Then, Tabata throws away all the hype of demons of each layer being stronger than the last, and skipped straight towards Lucifero. Tabata wrote himself in a corner where he had to make Lucifero lose and by extension, making the entire underworld a joke. The final parts of this arc needed deaths to compensate for the lack of consequences to the hero team. With the elf reincarnation arc, there was a similar issue. But in that arc, the clover kingdom being in ruin and Julius being nerfed helped compensate the otherwise flawless victory for the main cast. Just because we know what can happen if the villian wins, doesn't mean the stakes are automatically there. It's how close they reach their goals and the sacrifices that may be required to prevent them from reaching their goals. Gaja should of died, plain and simple. It wouldn't be for the sake of it either. He was set up nicely to have a final hurrah; yet Mimosa comes in and saves his life. It's her power to do so Ik (and it was ultimate magic), but it just turned Mimosa into a built-in plot armor while dropping the stakes immensely. Lucifero started off strong as expected, but watching him slowly be defeated and nobody beeing killed by said demon king, makes the final fight a complete joke. Nobody is gonna take the story seriously if the heroes keep winning without any loses. So to answer your questions, major losses and losing limbs are not always but sometimes necessary for stakes because it establishes consequences and intensity where it's more convincing that people can and will die. Especially in a war against demons. The demon king killing them all and being lucky that he wasn't at 100%, is not enough. Sorry for the big comment, I'm a fan of Black Clover and I'm not the most articulate when it comes to my thoughts on writing decisions. Anyways, thanks for reading.

I'm slowly getting more into Black Clover manga. I recall hearing the decline it's in, I didn't even know until your video when that started in the manga. The way I see it is most of the story decent. I'll take what I can from the situation.
No one died in the spade arc bc julius kept reversing time for the best possible outcome so he could obtain lucifero's heart without anyone dying Besides that, most of the golden dawn died and jack died
