Kirk's postgame where He said Cade is still getting into playing shape and knocking off the rust leads Me to 1 question, WTF is He the starting QB instead of Sullivan who played productive B1G football last Year and looked better in the Spring instead of giving Cade a few series , He should have been fired for that statement alone for not putting the best Player on the field because it is clear Cade is not a QB1 on a Team aspiring for a winning Season, He was Deacon Hill Quarters 2-4 and that does not even get Me started on the going for 2, clock management and the horrendous play calling that did not give Kaleb Johnson 1 touch on either goal to go series . Iowa needs a new staff and fresh start in 2025 forward, I am done with Ferentz.

It’s hard for me to say because he’s been the head coach for all 24 years of my life, but kirk needs to give it up. He’s far past his prime and stuck in his ways. Either die a hero or live long enough to become to villan.

Ferentz is going to do what Ferentz is going to do. Most people would change and improve and learn over 40 years. Not Ferentz. Its like that season 10 years ago when a senior QB with a losing season, and the backup did not get 1 snap. I didn't watch the game of course, I asked a guy, "Did they open with RB off right tackle?" Yep. The buyout on Ferentz might be $42 million.
Other teams don't need to watch game films, they KNOW what Ferentz is going to do.

At the end of the day, failing to score touchdowns on two trips to the red zone is why the Hawkeyes lost.

He's regrouping the O to attempt to punch it in. Get the right play call and find paydirt (obviously that didn't happen... we all know). If he wants a TO there, he should at least run the play clock to one second, or take a hard count or something.

They were out coached big time in the second half. Iowa was running up the middle so much, Iowa state knew what they were going to run and blew it up eventually. What does Iowa do? The same exact things
@@trosway This year, Iowa is 0 and 1 against ISU, which is the only record that matters this season. I'm an Iowa fan, but I'm also a realist. Iowa should go 5-7 this season, but a 6-6 or a 7-5 isn't out of the question if they pull their stuff together.

Failures all over, but the killer was not being able to run off 3 minutes of clock at the end of the game, specifically the play calling. One competed pass for a 1st down and Iowa wins. COACHES need to apologize to the team and the fans.
I don’t understand the point of this post. Iowa probably called timeout cuz they didn’t like what they saw defensively or what the play call was. And wanted to score a TD. This didn’t affect the outcome of the game. It did obviously cuz we didn’t score a TD. But why is Cade playing if he and Sullivan were so close on being the starter and Cade not playing like a starter qb 3/4 halves in the first 2 games. Why is Wetgen not playing on offense when listed as a starter wr??? Why didn’t they give Kaleb the ball on the goaline too?? Too many questions and it’s all on the coaching staff not the players.

Iowa will always be a mediocre program that good athletes use as a stepping stone in order to get into better programs. The only way to change that is for boosters to cough up a lot more money every year to field a 50 million dollar roster each and every year. Iowa could get any player in the country if the boosters coughed up a couple million per player. It's a money game now.

I'm not sure why Iowa fans are acting surprised lol. This kind of game has been his MO forever ! Kirk keeps teams in games and 75% of the time he expects teams to hand him the games by making some little mistake. The problem with that is things always come back to the mean and he loses alot of those games as often as he wins them. Yet another game he gets up a couple of touchdowns and and doesn't keep his foot on the gas and lets a team hang around. You do that 8 games out of 12 you're bound to win 4 and lose 4....or win 5 and lose 3 or the exact opposite, win 3 lose 5...you get my point lol. No one ever said he was the best coach ever. He's been a very good coach but has always kept teams in games with the way he wants to play football. This is another example of a time where it came back to bite him in the ass.
So I can't justify those timeouts, but I will say, there are times when coaches run down clock and a penalty happens and they don't have time. It's not the end of the world kicking off with a minute left in half.
Last year, iowas offense was 98% predictable. Now it’s 96% predictable.

KF needs to step away, let SW finish the year as interim HC and then Beth can decide what happens in 2025 (which she would be smart to retain SW as HC). We seemed to regress in this game, Cade was nowhere close to serviceable, Sully should have been given reps.
