Experience isn’t free . That’s the cost you gotta pay to learn sometimes. Still cheaper than having someone work on your car .

On some explorers, they have the bigger brakes because it's the police package. Allot of gray colored explorers where originally supposed to go to police, but where sold to civilians. Referred too as the limited or heavy duty, when u go get parts.

Just had the same issue with my wife's 2017 I knew she had the heavy duty/limited brakes. Ordered a set of brembo pads and rotors from rockauto, everything came went to do the brakes, pads were correct. Went to put the rotor on and I always look at the old part and compare to the new, the new rotor was half an inch difference in diameter all the way around. Put the rotor on and then put the new pad in place and noticed the pad sticking past the rotor, and im like that's not right. Long story short, I returned the rotors kept the pads and ordered the correct rotors. Also during the return rockauto had me verify year make and model and said those are the correct rotors but, definitely were not. So even when you know what you need and think you ordered the correct part you can still get screwed by incorrect descriptions on websites or from parts stores.

A few months ago I changed my mom's brakes because one locked up in the rain. Figured out the issue broken adjuster one that side rear drum. No big deal right.
Went ahead did all around pad shoe rotor disc replaced adjusters etc. Test drive it felt like a warped rotor. Took everything back apart rotors seemed good everything seem good put it all back together. After 5 rounds of repeating teardown and reinstall I gave up. Was questioning my 25 years experience as a shadetree moblie mechanic with a good reputation.
I Made appointment with a shop they called sayin that a drum was warped and it had taken them a day to figure that out. They returned that drum to Napa for me and threw it on. They said it was fixed. I pick up the truck no it's not fixed made appointment with another shop they called saying both drums were actually cracked. I took the junk NAPA PARTS back for refund counter guy says bit of the " China syndrome" . I may just as well have ordered Amazon parts, FU NAPA AUTO PART Never doing business with them again. Sux cuz I have business account and bunch of warranty stuff there but nah!

Just get an impact screw driver or get the one that’s made for impact gun don’t need to throw away just hand tighten them next time makes putting caliber bracket easier to put on in my experience great job!

You need an impact driver for those set screws. Knocks em out like butter in most cases.

Dude, mine was warped. I replaced the rotor but I didn't replace the pads and it worked. The new rotor. You think that's possible cuz the new rotors warped now too. But also my caliper was seized like the slide pins so I had no side to side movement. So think about it. The pad gets hot because it's kind of squeezing a little cuz it's seized a little bit on the piston so it doesn't fully release the thing's hot and then you slam on the brakes real quick and there's no slide pins so it just warps it. But I replaced the caliper and the pads but I didn't have the money for a rotor but it made it a little better. So now I'm going to have to get another box of pads cuz I can't use those pads on the new rotor. So I had to get another pugs and pads and a new rotor and get rid of the shake ... Wifey drives it more than anything and I need it safe
