    I've been using the Bradley 4 rack smoker for about 4 years now and it has served me well except for the fact that the old heating element was not strong enough. I had to do the heating element upgrade that I learned here on UA-cam, the other problem is the side to side width. I couldn't fit a brisket in mine any bigger than 10 pounds, without having to cut a lot off and all my rib slabs would have to be cut in half.
    I still love my 4 rack Bradley, but I definitely like the bigger size and stronger heating elements of this new unit. My next purchase.

      @GRodGrills  Рік тому

      The 4 & 6 rack ones were definitely not wide enough for me either. The P10 is a good size for brisket and longer cuts. Still not as big as some other types of smokers but this is definitely a good size.

    • @GRodGrills
      @GRodGrills  9 місяців тому +1

      Sure can, if you don’t want any smoke, just don’t load the pucks in or set the timer. You’ll still get heat to whatever you set it to it no smoke. According to their website, the lowest it’ll go is 86°F. I’ve never had it that low though.

    • @GRodGrills
      @GRodGrills  2 роки тому

      The controller keeps temperature closer to your target temp for the entirety of the cook. This one is also wider which is great for doing bigger/longer cuts like brisket. The bisquette system Is better too, I like that it’s covered so even if there’s a bit of unexpected weather while you’re cooking, no need to worry about the wood getting wet. It’s definitely worth the premium it costs in my opinion.

      I actually no longer have it. I’ve got quite a few different cookers and this one was getting the least amount of use so it got cut. I had it for about a year and a half though and I think it worked quite well. My only gripe was in cold weather it needed extra help to even start up. Our winters average around -20°C and it didn’t like that kind of cold. Once it got to temperature though, I had no issues with it. I’d say if you’re looking for a no fuss smoker, this is a good option. It’s big, quite easy to use and has lots of features. It’s very much a set and forget type of cooker and since the heat is produced independent of the smoke, even if you run out of bisquettes mid cook, your food still cooks.

      Thanks for the reply, if you don't mind asking what do you use now instead of it ? I have a GMG Pea Prime which I like, but I was looking into Bradley because they are able to go to lower temperatures ex: 80F

      I’ve got a Yoder 640 competition and a Loaded Wichita offset that are my main cookers. I also have a Kamado Joe and a couple of kettles. I don’t do a lot of low temp cooking though, otherwise I think I prob would’ve kept the p10.

    I have the P10 and have used it a lot. You missed a very important point. Once you dial in your temp you have 5 seconds to press the round button or you lose the info. Same holds true with time and smoke. Apparently you gave a quick read and missed this important rule. Not sure how you got it to pre burn. Also you missed another important point. Don’t load the pucks until all the times have been inserted or you will dump one in the water as it advances a puck when power is turned on. Istayanon Anon’s comment about pucks getting stuck is a reoccurring problem and is a serious problem if you don’t notice it as your smoke stops. So much for setting it and walking away. It holds the set temp right on and once the door is open it quickly re establishes the set temp. Will be interesting to see what you have to say once actually know how to operate it. Thanks enjoy your site but stick to smoking not advising set ups as you missed the target.

      I like it! Holds temperature really well and the size is a huge improvement over the older 4 rack one I had. Still gotta watch the wood bisquettes don’t get stuck at the start but once it’s rolling there are no issues.

      Ahh yes, I think I may have edited it out by accident. It’s on the side of the control panel on the same side as the bisquette door, you can kinda see where it is at about the 3:20 mark when I talk about the controls. It’s got a rubber plug on it for weather proofing.

    After applying a lubricant/rust dissolver to the screw I was unable to remove it. The screw slots gave out. Now the screw head must be ground off. At this point I do not have enough screws to fully reassemble the bisquette heater.
    When I spoke to Olev and asked him what the dimensions were for those screws his answer was that he would have to research that for me, and he would let me know. I have not heard from him. The local big box and hardware stores carry nothing identical. The choices there are either slightly too large or too small, and in that small size only Imperial is available here. I think the dimensions must be Metric and I need those dimensions in order to purchase replacements online.
    I am going to order stainless steel screws and replace all the rusted screws in the P10, which is almost all of them. Please, at least give me the correct screw dimensions.
    In the picture below you can see that the bracket holding the heating wires is badly corroded. I understand you will not replace the entire heater assembly, but would you at least replace that part?
    I am going to fully disassemble the bisquette heater, grind off all the rust, and repaint it with a heat tolerant rust resistant coating. I’m also going to examine the drip pan to try and understand how drippings got inside that heater in the first place since it is unreasonable to have to disassemble that part of the P10 to clean up what should not be there.
    That concludes my request for help, and my information for you regarding repair of this unit.
    MESSAGE FROM A VERY DISSAPOINTED CUSTOMER
    I have used Bradley smokers for over 40 years. My first was an aluminum model that eventually had to be replaced. I’ve purchased several to give as gifts to others. I am as loyal and long term a customer as Bradley could hope to have.
    The treatment I have received from support has been unpleasant. I’ve been accused of mistreating my P10 by support, then later had Olev confirm the screws were a bad choice that will be replaced. Now I’ve been accused of not properly caring for my P10 because I did not disassemble the heater to clean it. That procedure is not called for in your manual and should not be needed.
    I will never again purchase a product from Bradley. Not because my P10 has problems, but because Bradley support tries to blame the product problems on me, and refuses to acknowledge and replace that which is faulty.
    My entire interaction with Bradley has been fully documented in pictures and email. Take a moment to examine my UA-cam page and the videos I have there. They are detailed and have good reviews. I will be adding a detailed review of my experience with the P10, showing the rust throughout, the magnets sticking to what is claimed to be stainless steel, and the emails from support trying to blame me for those defects. Although my videos only get a up to 40,000 views, there is not much on UA-cam discussing the P10, so I expect my video will be easy to find if people research the P10 prior to purchase.
    Because you are not going to correct the deficiencies in your product I am going to alert prospective customers to them. Most disturbing to me is that Bradley intends to keep shipping P10s with steel screws until November when the first run of P10s with stainless screws is expected. Are you planning to send everyone a set of new screws and tell them to replace them. Such would be a good policy for those of us who already have our P10s, but shipping out units with steel screws when you could easily procure and replace the screws in your inventory units is just unethical.
    Like rust, the rot in a company comes from the top and works its way in. It saddens me that Wade Bradley has so little interest in his customers that he has chosen not to engage with me when I asked courteously that he do so. Leaders who shield themselves from disappointed customers, hide behind low tier technical support and refuse to acknowledge product deficiencies eventually pay the price. Word gets out, sales drop off and they no long have a company to lead. Good luck Wade, that is where you are taking Bradley.

      This post is concerning as I just bought this unit, comes in this week. Why wouldn't the maker have everything stainless?!?
      Is there any way I can prevent the screws from rusting before I use the smoker?
      Certainly don't want to grease or WD them as the taste is awful.
      Buy s hit load of stainless replacement screws before I use it?

      @@ColoradoCarrolls Bradley will have stainless steel screws sets for any customer who requests one sometime after November. Yes, you should get one and replace every screw in the box. I was able to source #6 3/8” stainless, pack of 100 for $9.00 from Albany Fasteners. They are not exact replacements but are close enough. More concerning is that the drip tray does not funnel all the drippings into the drip pan. Significant damage (rust) was done to my bisquette burner assembly by salty, corrosive drippings that leaked under the smoke cover and through the smoke hole in the dipping tray. None of that assembly is stainless and will quickly rot out. Cleaning it requires disassembly…. oh oh. Bradley is replacing my burner. i’m going to cover it with something, probably foil. and I might try to bend the lip on the smoke hole up a bit, and cut some flow grooves in the smoke hole cover to allow drippings that leak in to leak back out downhill. I love the P10 conceptual design and it does a great cooking job, but it has a few problems that lead to corrosion that must be worked out. Good luck.

      @GRodGrills  Рік тому

      I’ve had my p10 for just over a year and have never had an issue with rust on screws, cabinet, burner or any other part of the assembly. It drains just fine and with regular cleanings you shouldn’t have many issues. It sits outside with a cover on when not in use all year round. That includes winters where I live that can get to upwards of -40°C for weeks at a time. I’d say my only real gripes are that when it is below -15°C you need to warm up the cabinet sensor with a hairdryer or by putting a pot of boiling water in for a few minutes to get it to start. The cover is very snug as well so it’s kinda hard to get on and off when it’s cold out. Bisquettes will sometimes get stuck and not feed through, but if it’s gonna happen it happens in the first hour, so just gotta check the feed every 20min or so for the first hour. Other than that it works without issues.
      Sounds like Bendrix has had some extreme issues with their unit but I think that’s more the exception than the norm.

    • @bendrixbailey1430
      @bendrixbailey1430 Рік тому

      @@GRodGrills You need to be aware that according to Bradley support, leaving your smoker outside, covered or not, will void the warranty. At one point I sent them a photo of my unit on the covered porch, outside the building where I keep the smoker when not in use. Bradley support immediately informed me that my warranty was void due to misuse and cited the climate specification the unit is built to. Be aware of that.
      I live in MA about 12 miles from the ocean so perhaps some small amount of salt in the air contributed. Do you live in a dry area? That would help. Now, regarding your cleaning of the unit. In mine some of the drippings got inside the smoker / burner assembly. Those are corrosive, and you cannot clean in there unless you remove the unit and then remove the covers. You might inspect it if you have some spare time. I love the design and have cooked some great foods on it, but I am not a fan of the claim that it is made of stainless steel. Put a magnet on yours. It will stick hard everywhere but the door. The cabinet on mine is rusting, the screws in some cases were so rusted they would not come out. I’ve had mine 2.5 years.

    Horrible product, terrible design and cheap parts for an expensive price:
    1) briquettes get caught in the feeder every other round because of a cheap low power motor. This should have been upgraded to a stronger one before it even made market.
    2) called customer service and they refused to talk to me because it was a “new product” one year after its release: Lmao. Instead they told me to write an email which received no response.
    3) No ability to cold smoke in this product because of faulty design: the briquette burner is inside the oven compartment raising the temp well above 30C which is the max temp for cold smoking.
    4) they recommend changing the water every two hours meaning you have to open the smoke chamber and lose all your smoke and heat you have been building up.
    This seems to be designed by amateurs who never actually tested it before it’s release.
