Thanks again for taking on this project Casey, this video was amazing and I am really happy to see the process behind this awesome paint job. I am so sorry for having to put you through all that trim though. It took me about 8 hours myself the first time that I painted it. You do amazing work sir and I hope to have some more projects in the future for you!
Thanks for providing such a wonderful project for him to work on. This is truly a gorgeous piece of art, for sure, and I can only just imagine how it could be for you, getting to pine over it every single day, lol.
Absolutely man, it was a true pleasure to paint! Lol there was a lot of trim, but I play a lot of guitar so my hands were ready before I even started!!
In one way I agree, it looks like a hospital waiting room that's not been touched since the 70s, but it also looks fairly authentic to an actual medieval knight's look, I can imagine someone in this get up on the bayeux tapestry, you know?
@Johnnie Walker I disagree. I much prefer the new colours. Also the sharp grade from red to black on every single panel seems like a poor choice. Kills the shape of your very expensive figure.
And here i am, watching 23 minutes of warhammer miniature rescue video ... and i don't even play warhammer! Still - very impressive model and rescue job. :)
All I can think of is how much hand cramp there was by the end! It would be nice to see pictures of it on a table with the rest of the forces spread out round it, I bet it would look epic. Thank you to Huna Soldier for giving Casey the opportunity to work on such a humongous model, and thank you Casey, for sharing it.
@@bentalexranebundgaard4867 it would take probably a year just to build the scaffolding around it and maybe 5 years to paint it and then the titan would just walk through the scaffolding to leave
On that first panel there were some particles, hairs, or something of the sort. The rest didn’t though. I’m not sure where they came from. I should have caught it before painting that panel for sure.
JANKEN ! Definitely something to know for next time, I guess when working with such a large surface I should have thought about it more like painting a piece of wood. Small minis don’t usually have any issues with this.
AWESOME! You got a great effect with those fallout stencils- I've used them some but i haven't mastered them yet. Also, I'd never seen the trick of using the mineral spirits to clean up the center of a dripping rust stain, that makes a ton of sense and it looks great. Congratulations on cranking through this excellent project :-)
Thanks man, this was a very unique model and i feel lucky to have even worked on one. I saw that mineral spirits trick on, I’m pretty sure, an old schnauzer face episode. You can also spray it on with an airbrush, then spray mineral spirits to literally have it run down your model, super insane effects with enamels!
When doing the heat discoloring technique you should take into account the thickness of the different parts of the barrel, due to aircooling many parts like ridges and indrectly attached rods would not reach a high enough temperature and thus retain a lower heat color or no discoloring at all. Just looks a bit weird in my opinion.
It's important to seal in your base colors with gloss varnish before using any weathering involving white spirits. This is to stop your colors flaking away from the resin and undoing your work. It also helps when you're going back in to fine-tune your streaks and making them "clean" adjustments. I took 18 months to paint my Warlord! I reasoned that for the cost, it had to have maximum effort put into it to justify the expense lol. I went all out with weathering and battle-damage since a titan would be a prime target and would take fire, but not overdo it- remember that less is more when it comes to damage! It can be fun adding old rust, new rust, streaks and grime, paint-chipping, soot and corrosion to show age and use and adds a lot of history and character...
I do love saving minis. Such a nice feeling looking at the final product and remembering how terrible it started off haha. Thick paint, glued backwards, assembled by young kids who never cleaned the model properly. Great work with this beast though!
Truly a God-Machine. I know some people here dislike the choice of colors, but I actually like it - I imagine the various Titan Legions would have wildly varying color shcemes, not always bold or GRIMDARK colors. Makes it feel more realistic in a sense, less like a Saturday-morning cartoon.
I know this is an older video, but I had to comment. At first I was so confused with using the burnt amber at the beginning and then the color choses of the off white and green. I am so glad I finished the video and see the addition of the "rusting" effects as well as the "heat" of the guns. Thank you for the video . The finished project is simply beautiful
When you first started laying down that green I thought we were in for a rave themed titan but it ended up looking really regal and worked brilliantly with all the weathering. Amazing work. I can't believe you managed to keep the amount of weathering, colour and quality consistent over such a vast area.
Thanks! If it was my personal Titan I would have gone nuts lol. But in this case Josh and I agreed on the colors before I started. The nice thing about trying to be consistent over so much area is that the color pallet was limited, so if anything got out of hand I could go back with another color and tidy up. It worked out really well for sure :)
The only word that could accurately describe the end result of this piece, is GORGEOUS!!! Thanks for continually providing such solid content, I really do appreciate and look forward to every single second!
Your videos have inspired me to buy my first 40k mini, a Necron Overlord. I don't know if I'll ever get into painting it, but just the act of having one makes me feel a little more connected to the game and universe.
gorgeous model and what an awesome paintjob, i would love to own a titan but dang these guys are expensive so i just stick to my knight crusader and some helverins.
You know I wasn't sure about the colour choice until you showed the built titan. It looks absolutely fantastic! The stencils are a great idea, thanks for recommending them! Looking forward to then next rescue!

I do this as well but have issues posting videos...great work rescuing! Some of the best feelings I get are salvaging and saving something like this. Also...you use Vallejo!!! *squeee!!!* And again, you are a master at this. Pure and simple. Amazing talent and learned skill.
White and light, desaturated green together remind me of hospitals so they're a bit odd to see on a massive warmachine like this. I can't argue with the worksmanship, though.
First off, I love your videos and you’ve got some mad skills for painting. However, please dude.... clean the fuzz or whatever it is off the surface. It looks like a cat or something rolled all over it.
I hear you man, I didn’t even see it while painting lol. While editing all i could think was that this was going to come up a lot. I’m not even sure where it all came from, I don’t even have a cat!
Just got my hands on one of my own, gotta say im both excited and intimidated by this build, but ill get extensive use out of my airbrush, armor is gonna be a purple faded into teal for our family company, complete with decals!
Cool video! I must give a disclaimer: I've never undertaken a project like this one, so take my feedback with a grain of salt. I must say I was not digging the pastel-green and cream color scheme, until I saw it assembled, and you added the weathering . It works! I'm the fool. Vince Venturella has a very useful hobby cheating video for doing true metallic metal in a "zenithal style", and using oil-washes for weathering/greasing the metallic color. I think metal is a bit too shiny, especially the trim. The heat discoloration on the guns was a very good idea. The model needed something to break up the two main colors, and that guns is just about the coolest thing ever, so it's great to have attention drawn to it! My biggest criticism is of the base. It looks like black primer with a white zenithal. I did not see you work on it, so that may be why I don't like it so much.
Thanks for the feedback. For this project I was given the task of redoing the panels and adding a little bit of character in the form of mild weathering. The body (for the most part) and base, I was to leave alone. If I personally owned this model I would have wrecked this thing with weathering til it looked like it was going to fall apart lol. I love heavy weathering and pigments on my models, cracks, cuts, rust, you name it. But I did my best to give Josh what he asked for, and while there was a little bit of back and forth about weathering, we arrived at a good place to show just enough to say it’s been in a few battles, but hasn’t been left outside for a long time. I love Vince’s videos, every time I watch I feel like I’m getting better as a painter! I don’t think I’ve seen that true metallic video yet, I’ll have to go search for it, thanks for the heads up!
"so it looks like it's been outside for a little while"... Yeah, around about 10,000 years or so would qualify for at least "a little while" ^_^ Great video and especially great work! Please keep it up
This is a wonderfully different paint scheme. It almost looks like it is a Death Guard Titan that has only just lumbered out of the manufactorum. The stencil work is very effective.
