Hi Shane, I have watched almost all of your videos and would be nowhere close to where I am presently without them. This video solved part of an issue I had with gathering signatures and site sketches on mobile devices, but at that point the result could not be displayed on them (only opened in SharePoint or PCs with '{link}'). I have now solved that one (I am sure others have as well) and it may be worth a video some time to show how to others how to see signed forms on tablets. Briefly, the solution involved a "Thumbnail" field formatted as a Picture in the document library, a collection of signatures for the item (I keep all versions), a gallery with one item - the latest item (LastN) of the signature Thumbnail (large) , all identically sized (Gallery, Template and Image) and inserted into a Custom Card on the form. The pen input is on a pop-up and Patched with some metadata into SharePoint and the result is that after signing/drawing, the user (or customer) sees the result immediately on the form. Anyway, keep up the videos - every time I watch one, I learn something new.

EXCELLENT tutorial... quick question though. All is working as it should be... except a second picture. Shows fine in OneDrive, but sharepoint gives me 1 picture then the box with the red x. I'm sure I'm overlooking something small... ideas?
Hi, I used your video to upload images using the out-of-the-box Upload Image button. I found out that if the uploaded image is PNG it works great with mid() with 24 characters. However, if the uploaded image is JPG is must be mid() with 25 characters. The workaround I found was to add an additional step on Flow to substring one additional character if the "Create file" failed (which it does with JPG) and the just "Create file" with the output of the substring step.
Hey Shane, thank you for the video! it helped me a lot. Is there a way to generate a link to this signature immediately in powerapp forms so that when a user submits the survey, the link to her signature is already in the SP list? the column for the signature is a single line text and it would be great if there would appear a link to the signature in it by default. Thank you
Thanks for videos and classes! I've learned tons! I've created my flow for One Drive and SharePoint. My Flow runs without error and I see my jpg in my One Drive folder but I don't see it in SharePoint list. I'm trying to store a signature and form data in a list so I can populate a Word template. Am I suppose to reference a column somewhere? Does it need to be a picture library? What am I doing wrong?
Hi Shane, great video. Hopefully a quick question. When inserting the signature image into the html and hence into a PDF. Can the html also include dynamic data from the form, such as other controls - customer names and such for example.
Hi Shane. Great tutorial as usual. I have one question I hope you have the time to answer. I have a power app created from the columns in a sharepoint list (basic powerapp) and want to include this signature as an attachment (image) when the powerapp submits the other form bits so that the columns populate and the signature image is saved as an attachment for each new item. So in the end use a powerapp to fill in some fields and get a signature and send these all to a list item. I have been a week trying to get it working and seeing as your tutorial is 90% of my solution I thought I would ask. Thanks for any help.
Try storing the signature as base64 in multi line text field. Can’t use it in SharePoint but you can in Power Apps. I have a video on the works that shows this.
Hi. I wanted to share a solution to a question I had that I see often posed here, and eventually worked it out. Regarding the html pdf process - If you are trying to add a changing name from your Powerapps inputs instead of a static name, you need to select 'ask in powerapps' in your flow. Remember you can do this by selecting 'show more' when looking for options - it doesn't automatically show - save your flow once added. If you are editing existing an existing button run command in powerapps copy your HTML Code and paste in a note or word -important as you will otherwise lose it. Go to the flow in powerapps and remove it and re-add it. When you have done so, if you hover over the run command, it shows its expectations - it will have something like 'create content', 'create name' or something similar. You need to put your copied html content and name, separated by a comma in the order identified within the run command brackets. Your HTML quote marks should NOT wrap both commands - only the html command. If you want the name to be dynamic from your powerapp content, you need to enter the relevant powerapps input in the name. Something like this: PDFFloweg.Run(& DataCardValue1.Text & ".html", " your HTML code goes here before ending and closing the run bracket). Remember to follow the order of the run command. Note that I put ".html" at the end of my datacardvalue in the name, You could also add this in the flow in the create file but I found it easy to add here. I hope this helps and saves you and hopefully others the time it took to figure out :-)
This is an awesome video! I've tried taking parts from this video and an older one you did where the app had a green back ground. I'm having trouble with one part though. Your suggestion to name the file using the UTCNOW function works like a charm. I was hoping to take this a little further. I've rewatched the older video and this one and tried piecing together how to use an input box in the power app to collect the name of the person your taking a signature from and appending it to the beginning of the name of the file. I can't figure out how to edit the flow to accept the input text from the power app. I tried using the concat function, but i'm not getting anywhere after about 50 different changes to the wording. This is what i have for the powerapp side: Set(varSigName, SigNameInput.Text);Set(varSignature, JSON(SignatureInputPen.Image, JSONFormat.IgnoreBinaryData)); Set(varSignature, Mid(varSignature, 24, Len(varSignature) - 24)); PenInputToHODSharepoint.Run(varSigName, varSignature) This is what i have for the Flow side: File Name: concat(triggerBody()['varSigName'],utcNow(),'.png') I don't get errors in the power app or the flow when saving them respectively, but when i try and execute the powerapp , the flow fails. Any idea on what i'm doing wrong? Is it even possible? I've been successful in creating a static name for the file in FLOW, but not dynamically.
Evidently there is a difference in how a picture control and the pen control send info from powerapps to flow. I changed my flow to ask for the name of the file to come from powerapps, then in powerapps i changed the order of how the content of the pen input image and then the name of the file. This was the fix. This was what worked in the end for me: Set(varSignature, JSON(SignatureInputPen.Image, JSONFormat.IgnoreBinaryData)); Set(varSignature, Mid(varSignature, 24, Len(varSignature) - 24)); PenInputToHODSharepoint.Run(varSignature, SigNameInput.Text & ".png") Wish i had thought to change the order sooner. But i will say your advice on "peeking" at the code helped me decide to try it. Thanks for all of your helpful videos and advice Shane.
@@ShanesCows Tried that Method and just got an error pn the Last Line. Any advise? Set( varJson, JSON( PenInput1.Image, JSONFormat.IncludeBinaryData ) ); Set( varJson, Mid( varJson, 24, Len(varJson)-24 ) ); PIToOneDrive.Run(varJson, Job_No.Text &".JPG")

Hi Shane, Love your videos and found this one really helpful, so thank you. One question , iss it possible to save the JSON conversion of pen input as a variable and patch to SharePoint list column as text?
Hi Shane - But how could I allow the Pen input to be inputted along with a tagging number to identify the signature along with the from being submitted. I had trouble with this. It wouldn't run if I was trying to send more than one Pen Input to the HTML to PDF. I found though that by adding an Image control (which I later set the visible property to false) to the same screen as the pen input, I could then view the pen input in the image control and reference the image in my HTML instead of the second pen input. for some reason it really didn't like more than one pen input but this was an easy work around.

The Flow can return the file url so yes you would have it.
I thinkyou would need to add steps in the flow to move from it from OneDrive to the SharePoint list? I assume as an attachment.
Hey Shane. Is it possible to place an image behind the peninput so that the user can markup the image? Like when you check your hire car for dents.
Yes it is Kevin. I was about to say I didn't remember where I showed it but I think I did it in this video. ua-cam.com/video/bsJAG9dJlcc/v-deo.html 😎

Hi Shane, great video. Hopefully a quick question. When inserting the signature image into the html and hence into a PDF. Can the html also include dynamic data from the form, such as other controls - customer names and such for example.
Yes. ua-cam.com/video/9d3R336y-j8/v-deo.html
@@ShanesCows cool. Cheers Shane.
Something like this: PDFFloweg.Run(& DataCardValue1.Text & ".html", "
your HTML code goes here before ending and closing the run bracket). Remember to follow the order of the run command.
Note that I put ".html" at the end of my datacardvalue in the name, You could also add this in the flow in the create file but I found it easy to add here. I hope this helps and saves you and hopefully others the time it took to figure out :-)
Thanks for sharing Walter 🐶
This is what i have for the powerapp side:
Set(varSigName, SigNameInput.Text);Set(varSignature, JSON(SignatureInputPen.Image, JSONFormat.IgnoreBinaryData)); Set(varSignature, Mid(varSignature, 24, Len(varSignature) - 24)); PenInputToHODSharepoint.Run(varSigName, varSignature)
This is what i have for the Flow side:
File Name: concat(triggerBody()['varSigName'],utcNow(),'.png')
I don't get errors in the power app or the flow when saving them respectively, but when i try and execute the powerapp , the flow fails.
This was what worked in the end for me:
Set(varSignature, JSON(SignatureInputPen.Image, JSONFormat.IgnoreBinaryData)); Set(varSignature, Mid(varSignature, 24, Len(varSignature) - 24)); PenInputToHODSharepoint.Run(varSignature, SigNameInput.Text & ".png")
Wish i had thought to change the order sooner. But i will say your advice on "peeking" at the code helped me decide to try it. Thanks for all of your helpful videos and advice Shane.
Glad you got it.

Amy idea if it's possible to save 2 signatures from same button? I have tried 2 flows, but secondary image comes out blank. I suppose I would need to set varJson differently, but can't figure it out
As long as you don’t reset the variable you should be able to use it as much as you want
Would it be possible to save in a sharepoint list, with the other fields of the form?
