    I really like how the pros donate the shoes to the students, that really saves a lot of money! And to those wondering, I'm pretty sure toes shoes and pointe shoes are probably regional names.

    • @mskates2001
      @mskates2001 24 дні тому

      That is one advantage to being professional-the company buys the shoes for you, saves the dancers a lot of money also since each ballerina probably wears out at least one pair of pointe shoes a day/performance

    I would love to watch this show but I miss dancing so much! I quit this year after dancing for 10 years (I started when I was 6 and now I'm 15) and I always wanted to get pointe shoes but I never took ballet classes. I did take a few ballet classes but not all the time. i always did jazz.

      exactly how I feel. at my studio, the teachers would expect for you to take more classes through the week and summer classes and then a show, it was way to much money and didn't want dance in mix in with theater.

      You could always start dancing again, but it's probably too late to make it professionally. I quit when I was really young but I recently started again aged 16. It's worth restarting if you love to dance

      My sister took ballet in kindergarten, but in grade 1, they said she had to dance 5 days a week, so she quit. The next year, I enrolled in a different ballet class, I quit after about 6 weeks though because none of my friends joined, and my BFF wanted to join but there was no space. When I quit since i had no friends in the class, my BFF took that extra space, not knowing that it was me who left. She didn't care though, and stayed dancing. Now her dance team won nationals!

    How do they get such lean legs? My thighs are bulky I'm afraid i've been using the wrong muscles all the yrs i've been dancing and doing gymnastics recreationally. Or i'm not sure if it's genetic, but all ballet dancers i see they all have lean legs/thighs??? How to make bulky thighs lean? :(

    • @alexlao4705
      @alexlao4705 10 років тому +13

      I know gymnasts usually have a bulkier build, but I don't know about any specifics.

    • @andreamcfarlane540
      @andreamcfarlane540 10 років тому +4

      theres so much cardio involved that theres nno chance for the leg to build bulk because everythings always being burned!

    • @pinkcotton94
      @pinkcotton94 10 років тому +2

      Andrea Mc hmmm could it be muscles that are making the thighs larger/bulkier?

    • @Tintenfischchen
      @Tintenfischchen 10 років тому +29

      pinkcotton94 Maybe it's because in gymnastics you're training completely different muscles than in ballet:
      Working with parallel feet, like you do in gymnastics, will make your legs look more muscular and bulky, while working with your legs turned out correctly from the hip, like you do in ballet, will make your legs look long and slim.
      So if you want your legs to look more like a dancer's legs, just do more ballet and less gymnastics and also ask your ballet teacher if you're using the right muscles!
      Good Luck =)

    • @andreamcfarlane540
      @andreamcfarlane540 10 років тому +17

      gymnasts use their actual quad muscle more whereas ballet dancers lift their legs from the hip flexor muscles and other hip muscles most of the time. Practice using other leg muscles like dancers!

  • @austinacmes
    @austinacmes 6 років тому +4

    It's amazing to see how their training focuses so little on upper body movement and just on quick clean foot work. This is really just called training at the barre. Whereas vagonova style is dancing all the way beautifully from plié to the center.

    what are some good ballet excercises for stretching but not getting muscly/too big legs. I have done gymnastics and my legs have got bigger so I wondered is there a way to make them smaller/thinner?

    • @bethanyhyun7514
      @bethanyhyun7514 10 років тому +1

      Try to work the inner thigh more when raising the leg rather than pulling it up with the quad muscle. It may feel weird for awhile but using these muscles rather than the quad will allow the leg to go higher. This exercise won't necessarily make them smaller but it should make the legs leaner. Another thing to try is to not keep the leg forced into the hip socket, you want to extend from underneath the leg; again this should also help with leaner muscles. I hope this will help you :)

    • @Kelly5551kitty
      @Kelly5551kitty 10 років тому

      Bethany Hyun how do u use the inner thigh more (sorry if its a dumb question just want to get the technique right)

    • @bethanyhyun7514
      @bethanyhyun7514 10 років тому

      Missy Scarlett Its not a dumb question. I had a hard time doing this at first. Some of the excersizes that I do to help are lying on my back and slowly lifting the leg to the front (in a turned out position)and contracting the inner thigh muscles. You should feel a sort of pulling motion on the inner thigh. Remember for this exercise lifting the leg slowly and keeping the leg lower is better than kicking the leg to the head; because that wont do anything for you in this case. You could also try laying on 1 side of the body and doing the same thing to the side(only this time in parrallel) Let me know if I need to clarify more on this or if you need more exercises.

      Jalen Wilson There is no wood in pointe shoes, and I think everdaygurls was just shocked that a pre professional student called them 'toe shoes'

      Jalen Wilson the material in pointe shoes is a lot of paper and other materials glued together and then shaped like a shoe :)
