So humble. Jim and Charlie are amazing. I watched them and the band on Thursday night at Wembley arena with my daughter. Absolutely awesome , just as good as the first time I saw them live in Germany ( Dortmund Westfalen Halle) in 1995. I could hardly stand as my legs were shaking so much. Thank you so much Simple Minds
Most underrated band. Best frontman ever (beside Freddy ;-) ). And one of the best and also most underrated but innovative guitar players. Big disadvantage for them was the missing manager after the end of the eighties. Far better quality than U2 and always on the ground.
Loved Simple Minds back in their heyday, and saw them again for old times sake about 10 years ago, but after Freddie in the front-man stakes comes Dave Gahan. Fact.
They were up there with U2 in the 80's but then stagnated unfortunately, where U2 went on and reinvented themselves a few times. Could easily have been stadium fillers today had they followed U2's model.
Strange - some of the demeaning comments here. A brilliant band, brilliant music. Meant so much to millions myself included. Thank you, Jim and Charlie for all you have done, all the hope and inspiration. Love will endure.
I’ve seen SM live since my days at Glasgow Uni in fact the first time was in 1978 at the Queen Margaret Union.Seen them so many times since and they always produce a fantastic live show.Like a good wine getting better with age.Jim’s only a couple of months younger than me so it’s a long time admiration
Been a huge fan since the 80's and always will be. Was lucky enough to meet Jim back in 1990 a photo of which I keep pride of place much to my husband's disgust! Great interview and great guy. Thanks for the music Jim and Charlie.
Pure class, a real nice interview. Jim nailed it about leaving home, I left my northern city to do my apprenticeship in Glasgow at 16 and found Simple Minds. Anyone else think Mariella and Jim have a spark together?
Been a fan from the beginning way back when, they never disappoint the fans, always 1001%, saw them in liverpool on Saturday , amazing night . Jim and Charlie giving it loads can't beat the Minds .
Loved this interview...can listen to Jim and Mariella all day... Very funny that Jim's Oliver Stone gaff... Was compounded by Times Radio playing 'End of the Night' instead of 'The End' 😂 Perfect! 🤣
Amazing to hear Mariella worked as a tape op at Rockfield whilst the band were there, with Iggy recording there too, and Bowie showing up with his wedge of cheese and a can of Heineken. Great stuff. Nice interview.
Going back to the water front me my brothers use to sit on Chesil beach in Dorset in the 80s then I moved to this VERY SPECIAL place last year very very special place
I LOVE Simple Minds, I heard Jim being interviewed when I was about 14 and his gorgeous lilting voice made all the hairs stand up on the back of my neck (in a good way!) and he still has it!! Fantastic band, got tickets for this weekend & I can't wait!
They nearly redeemed themselves when Mel Gaynor was in the band and they released Graffiti Soul .. unfortunately Jim saw a chance to take all the money and "relieved" Mel from his duties - sharp practice seeing that Mel has been a company man since 1982. Since then the band have turned into a cabaret act. It's Jim's call - he's only got himself to answer to now - he's alienated Forbes, McNeil and now Gaynor. All three are alive and well. John Giddings (his promoter) has more to do with the bands resurgence - John put up the money for the tours and gave the band the prestigious Isle Of Wight slot which raised their profile. I like Jim, but he's driven the band down the cabaret road intentionally. It's his call.

They’re not a brilliant band tho are they? They are a duo.
@@markhoward9923 Not sure what do you refer to when saying a "duo". For the most of their history Simple Minds have been a five piece band.

Pure class, a real nice interview.

Anyone else think Mariella and Jim have a spark together?
Noticed it right at the beginning of the interview 😁
"Charlie lives on the same street in Sicily" You have to love it!
The best Band in the world . I really really look forward to seeing you on stage in Ceret .
Been a fan from the beginning way back when, they never disappoint the fans, always 1001%, saw them in liverpool on Saturday , amazing night .
Jim and Charlie giving it loads can't beat the Minds .
Saw him recently at a gig absolutely brilliant especially for his age
Have my tickets for Glasgow this week. Can't wait!!

Hunh. Didn’t know about the release; just added it to my walking playlist-Simple Minds is always reliable workout company!
bravo Jim Kerr vai avanti cosi' sei il meglio
Love this group. I knew all their "hits," but am happily discovering lessor known stuff. I love Glittering Prize, Ghost Dancing, Waterfront..
Amazing to hear Mariella worked as a tape op at Rockfield whilst the band were there, with Iggy recording there too, and Bowie showing up with his wedge of cheese and a can of Heineken. Great stuff. Nice interview.
She took the Kerr boabie
@@pifflepockle 😂
Truly a brilliant band . Diverse , clever , and every album unique and different. Astonishing
I’ve been saying this for years. And I’ll say this again. The first five Simple Minds albums are shining examples of what the eighties were about.
Saw them in Glasgow brilliant
Simple Minds
In Rome : Fantastic ..
Thank you.
Banda adorada no Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Going back to the water front me my brothers use to sit on Chesil beach in Dorset in the 80s then I moved to this VERY SPECIAL place last year very very special place
Cool interview, no pretension, no hype.
FYI apocalypse now is a film by Francis Ford Coppola not Oliver Stone
Wrong, it was Spielberg.
@@garrybaldy327 hahahaha nope
Mariela Frostrup arrh always liked her. No messing with her
god she looks amazing😊😊
Jim & Charlie Gentlemen
Shame Francis Ford Coppola directed.." Apocalypse Now... Though. Bless ya Jimbo 🙌
I just noticed that too. Don’t think Oliver Stone made any movies in 1979. Apocalypse Now…. What a masterpiece of The Heart of Darkness! 😉
I love Simple Minds! I wish Jim and Chrissy Hyde stayed together 😢
I still believe that when Forbes and subsequently MacNeil left the band a big chunk of the creativity left with them...
ARE YOU GOING TO TRAVEL TO MAKE A CANADIAN TOUR? PLEASE STOP BY MONTREAL IF YOU DO
She's still hot
Good luck in LEEDS
Why did you come in Serbia
Not my cuppa tea anymore, at the 80's of last century they were👍
didnt even play the right song at the end(no pun intended...

Pretty disgusted at the way this has ended. Over 35 gigs for me, but no more. The new line up of session musicians was the end for me. Very sad.

Educate yersel man
really?? DUDE listen to the BREAKFAST CLUB the end song is BY SIMPLE MINDS the HUGE hit
Blimeyyyyyy …start with the Rolling Stones and go forward 😂..there was also someone called David Bowie ..
