as someone who worked for Tudor, I have to say that the Royal in blue is one of the most popular Tudors atm. At first, I hated its looks, but the 38mm wears perfectly, being thin and having very comfortable bracelet. So after having it on the wrist for a while, I ended up loving this more than most of the BB collection.
If Tudor made this in 39mm (least important), made the polished "vertical" links in the bracelet somewhat broader, changed the Roman numerals for, say, stick indices, used a smooth or fluted bezel and upgraded to a Sellita SW300, it would be the perfect affordable watch in this style for me. That being said, I've bought the 38mm Tudor Royal in blue as is. Oh, and a cyclops lens put on the inside of the sapphire would be cool
The Tudor Royal is definitely one that grows on you. For a long time I thought it was so ugly, but once I saw on in person, it slowly grew on me. Now I'm a believer! ;)
Got a Tudor Royal 41 with blue dial and diamonds and I can absolutely recommend it. It's a cool daily driver and also stylish enough to wear with a dress...
This is unrelated to the video it’s just by coincidence that this video is also about a Tudor watch but today I just got my first big watch, a Tudor Black Bay 58 for my graduation gift and I just wanted to thank you because this channel got me into watches a couple of years ago and your videos help me understand that there is much more to high end watches than just Rolex, weather it be a Grand Seiko to a jaeger-lecoultre to a Tag Heuer, and I got an amazing understanding of the actual mechanics of watches and how they work. I started a very small very cheap watch collection and now I have a new amazing time piece to add to it. Thanks for giving younger me something to get interested in and something to learn more about and even helping me bond with my grandfather over his old watches because of what I learned on this channel, just thank you.

The more I see this Tudor the more I feel that I have to purchase one. I am old enough to remember the oyster quartz and I loved it except for the movement and this watch corrects that problem. I believe that it is the nicest watch in the Tudor range and the plus is it's the entry level for the Tudor range. The decision now is stainless steel or steel and gold and if they bring it out in Rose gold and steel it would be a no brainer but until that happens I have a difficult decision to make, two tone or steel, decisions decisions!
I’ve seen and tried the blue version in person. It was stunning and if I ever see it again I might buy. I love that there’s no text in the bottom half of the dial.

Went into my AD just to have a look at one and ended up walking out with it. Tudor's own pictures of it are terrible; looks so much better in the flesh. Looks and feels like a much more expensive watch. I went for the Day/Date, as the date only did look quite bland. The only let down is the power reserve; I get it, at this price you're not going to get an in-house movement, but I'm sure there must be off the shelf movements with a greater power reserve.

@Jay M Tudor uses Sellita based movements, which certainly aren't cheap chinese clones of ETA 2824's. Where did you get that ludicrous idea from? Great video, I just purchased the 41 dual colored, dark dial Roman numeral day date up tonight! 😁😁😁 I'm eagerly awaiting it's arrival, it literally checked off every box of what I wanted for my first entry level luxury watch. I'm a huge day date fan in general, I need it on any watch that ends up in my fault rotation and than everything else about this particular one I picked I just love. I will never sell this watch as it's my first luxury level, I've bought sold and traded mid tier watches for just 6 years and was ready to graduate to the next level. I would love a Rolex President someday when I retire, but I only bought this watch based on the criteria of what I want in a single watch function and that it truly by entry level luxury... So again thanks for this video and now I'm just gonna keep watching videos until mine arrives in person lol
If you like the Tudor, it is the best you can buy in this price range in terms of workmanship. The case and the watch strap, the dial and the Roman numerals are extremely clean. and the ETA, which also works in the various Breitling, Hublot, and IWC watches.
As someone said it below, this grows on you. I first kinda liked it, but now Im considering it instead of bb58 or bb41. I just really like how it looks, it’s classy and believe it or not, I like the diamonds version. But Im really looking for an everyday watch. So it would make sense to go with the bb41, and buy the tissot prx on the side, since its only 600€ and it kinda does the same trick. But at the same time it doesn’t.
Hated it from photos and videos. But once again, seeing it in the metal (and more importantly on wrist) was the polar opposite. There's a brutish elegance to it that is charming and characterful. Got the blue dialed 38. Wears so damn well. If there was a criticism, I'd wish the scissor clasp was shorter. But that's nitpicking.
That is also my only criticism. i solved it once I tried it on while being sized for me at the boutique. Being a complete sucker for comfort & the bracelet/strap aficionado that i am. After a few back and forths with the watchmaker, giving me confused facial expressions due to my analysis, I quickly realized if the fold over clasp where reversed it would sit so much better on the wrist. Although it is a bit awkward at first latching the clasp in the opposite direction, it is a world of difference in comfort. Once the watchmaker sizing my bracelet realized what i was trying to do, he smiled & nodded his head with clarification. Now my only criticism is my wrist diameter being between sizes, half links would of been perfect. But that’s an issue i have with mostly my entire collection, unfortunately i just happen to have one of those wrist that lands direct center of two sizes.
I wanted to buy an Omega Aquaterra but its kind of expensive and then i see this watch and i always wanted Day-Date on a watch so now its really hard to decide..
I still can’t understand where the reference of the AP Royal Oak comes from, other than the name Tudor Royal. However, it literally brings a resemblance of the Vacheron Constantin 222.
I have this exact watch and it wears better than my AP RO 15400st due to the shorter lug to lug and more flexible bracelet. Its a exceptionally beatiful piece WITH a daydate complication… people really are sleeping on this model 😴😴😴😄😄😄
I don't like tudor. Nor do I like rolex. But this watch right here is not a tudor lol and if it is then it's the best tudor I've ever seen. In blue that is. I've tried it on twice and I believe I'll end up with this watch in my collection.
I had the exact same model as in this video, loved it, but it didn't match well with my golden anniversary ring. I sold it and bought it again but the 2 tone version. Love it even more. For this price this watch simply can't be beat. It's accurate, stylish with roman numerals, super handy with the day at 12 for guys like me who forget the day constantly. The case wears super flat and the bracelet wears more comfortable than Any bracelet I've ever worn. I got many watches but this truly became my favourite watch. And all that for +-€3000 i payed for it (gold/steel version). I can truly recommend it to anyone. It's one of those watches the more you wear it, the more you love it. And that's coming from a guy who flips watches like a burger flipper flips burgers at the McD. My review in 2 words: Highly recommended.
@@bobbyloads Yeah I understand it completely. I usually wear big divers. My daily watch used to be an Omega planet ocean Seamaster 45.5mm. Big and fat diver. After that the Tudor Black Bay diver 41mm gold/steel. The Royal actually wears bigger than the 41mm Black Bay because it has no divers bezel, which makes the Royale's dial look bigger. But yeah, there will defenitely be a noticeable difference between a 47/48mm Breitling vs a 41mm Royale. There's only one way to find out if it's for you. If possible go to a AD and try it our for yourself!
@@bobbyloads To add to that. I do have big wrists. A have a 21cm/ 8+ inch wrist. The Tudor definitely doesn't look too small. It's a properly sized watch for a man's wrist.

Tuday just had a black bay red and this one 41mm blue in a shop front of me. Walked away with this one, and i am happy. Have Sub date, and the BB just look way too high-thick for me. This one wears like a dream. Highly recomend for everyone. In picture looked bad and cheap, but in person superb.
i think it looks so much better in two tone. im planning on getting the 38mm two tone black dial because Im not really into the day window if its not a Rolex Daydate
I think.. this should be released with olive green color.. also with the bottom of dial filled of more detail.. and then, this watch will be a legend of tudor.
Lots to like. Couple of things I’d have to probably try on in person to see if I prefer. The bezel details throw me off in videos/photos. Not a fan of integrated bracelets. The 4 numeral is awkward.
Excellent (and surprising) review, Andrew. This line gets a bit of unjustified hate from some reviewers due to it's 'dated' design, mainly because of the bezel. I absolutely love the dial and indices. A shame that they don't have the day complication on the 38mm, not sure whether it would fit on the dial or not. Rather expensive for a Sellita based timepiece, but a 'bargain' Tudor if ever there was one (would be even better if it had the in-house MT5402, but that would add a bit to the cost)

A great allrounder! Sporty but dressy and doesnt break the bank. A great option, but I would get it in blue dial. The black is a touch more diluted and toned down/boring.
I was comparing between the Royal and the Oysterquartz, but ultimately ended up getting the Mk1 OQ from 1978 just due to the historical aspect of the watch. Not sure if I’d go for a Royal though
Has anyone had an occurrence whereby once pulling the crown to the time winding position, the minute hand slips. I screwed the crown back in and pulled again and it worked fine... Unusual behaviour for a new watch (Tudor Royal)? Regards
I have the Blue 41. One of my favorite watches. It's an affordable proper day date that comes from Tudor. What more do you want for 2700$ tax included.
I bought a tutor Blackbay 41 in Champaign this past Summer. I thought the watch was my dream watch, until the bezel fell off. You read that right, the bezel fell off. Come to find out, it was miss assembled from the factory and the white nylon underneath the bezel was misaligned and crushed during assembly. Which begs the question, how did this get missed under quality control? Returned the watch, which was not easy, and went with a different brand.

I already have this watch in blue dial 🙏👌 It’s perfect build and even more precise as my Rolex Day Date!
If they made the blue dialed, diamond index, day-date in the two-tone case, I'd get one.
The 41mm version feel great on the wrist
Wish they made a non Roman numeral version. Would buy it in a heartbeat
They do
I have one as my first luxury watch and just love it.
Yes, that scissor clasp is a pain. And the limited removable.links on the lower side of the bracelet.
Finally! I have been waiting for one of the big watch channels to look at the Tudor Royal! I'm glad you went with the Black 41mm.
I wanted to buy an Omega Aquaterra but its kind of expensive and then i see this watch and i always wanted Day-Date on a watch so now its really hard to decide..
Tudor Quarter Pounder….feeling hungry now 🍔
I love the day date function on a watch,Tudor has got it right again.
Make a version without Roman numerals and I will buy it.
I still can’t understand where the reference of the AP Royal Oak comes from, other than the name Tudor Royal. However, it literally brings a resemblance of the Vacheron Constantin 222.
Agreed. It doesn't remind me of the Royal Oak.
Very nice smooth movement of the seconds hand. Also, I wish more brands would put the day spelled out as does this Tudor and it’s Rolex cousin.
I love both tudor and oris.
I have this exact watch and it wears better than my AP RO 15400st due to the shorter lug to lug and more flexible bracelet. Its a exceptionally beatiful piece WITH a daydate complication… people really are sleeping on this model 😴😴😴😄😄😄
Have a look at the 1926 collection. Very nice dress watch in a large choice of dials and case sizes. This would be my entry level Tudor
I did not like it at the beginning then at the end I loved it. Good thing you don't sell booze...
My review in 2 words:
Highly recommended.
Good review I’m on the fence wear Breitling’s now so I’m scared to jump down to 41mm I have 47 and 48mm
@@MisterMaster4life I already placed a bid on eBay if gets accepted I’ll buy it. In my opinion this watch is underrated and very fairly priced even if it’s too small for my liking I’ll put it in the safe and hold on to it I’m pretty positive the price will go up in it in the near future especially if this market keeps up.
@@MisterMaster4life good call man just got home to my watch and little small bit I’ll get use to it beautiful better quality then I expected now have to chase the skydweller lol
That's an amazing line. Rolex are the watches for people that have made it and Tudor is for those on their way there. Bravo sir!
no, Rolex are for those who think they've made it..Tudor are for those who will never make it 😂
No Rolex is for the poseurs who mostly dont know s*** about watches at all. Sort of a Eudipus complex or missing quality in certain areas :)
I have a breitling, omega , zenith , santos carrier , and now want this tudor reason why I don’t have a rolex is because i everyone has one we cant all have the same shit , you think is my goal was to have a rolex i would paid all the money i have for my other watches .
Would be nice with a Tudor 1926 review, 36mm and 39mm.
I'm glad Tudor made the watch ⌚ & watch finder ⌚ 👀 made the video. More micro brands & Chinese watches should feature on this channel
i think it looks so much better in two tone. im planning on getting the 38mm two tone black dial because Im not really into the day window if its not a Rolex Daydate
This really is a watch that grows on you!
Please do a little more on Bell & Ross, would love to see their pieces under your lens.
Every time a video like this is made, aftermarket costs skyrocket
Hello Mr. Andrew & Tom!
I can't believe that I can afford this. I probably wouldn't be able to buy a bunch of watches that year but I could buy one of these....
They made this watch years ago with indices, so no violation of numerals was needed. I would buy this in an instant…
I think.. this should be released with olive green color.. also with the bottom of dial filled of more detail.. and then, this watch will be a legend of tudor.
Im Nearly there with the money think I will get the 38mm in blue I realy like the Roman numerals. The day cuts them off a bit to much
Love it 😍 I have the royal 38 mm without day with blue dial
Amazing for the price trust me
Incredible watch
was this filmed before the recent Tudor price increase!? £1740 starting now
Lots to like.
Broken III and XI is also an issue.
@@samkuong3121 I get what you're saying, Sam. It doesn't bother me, but I can see that it may have been better to leave those indices off altogether.
I purchased the Tudor royal in steel and gold black dial and diamonds after seeing it in the showroom love it
Fantastic lineup, the gold and diamond dial is beautiful
"This is the affordable entry level model of an entry level brand"- me looking at my 15.38$ CASIO
me - So what its maybe 175-250
Him - "starting at 1600.00$"
Me - !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I always say this one gets slept on, it's got a Rolex inspired engine-turned bezel and a dial that is reminiscent of a Day Date.
Impressed with the finishing on those hands. Agree its VFM.
Looks really good
It is....
Anybody else notice the Roman numeral 4 is wrong?
I chose this with the silver face over the PRX. The blue dial is great, but felt too over done lately. Is this a new dial color I see?
Soo...remember that F.P. Journe Elegante featured on the channel? Well I was saving up for one, and turns out they're now $60K on the grey market. Maybe it's time to give up on collecting watches.
Moser is still in reach! Don't give up!
"flying off shelves like Paranormal Activity." nice.
2nd question 😅 in the video it is mentioned that the Royale costs 1.000£ but I just found some for 2k-3k
I would buy this with a smooth bezel and something other than Romans. I think the bracelet and case form is fantastic.
A stunning piece for all the right reasons. Thank you.
It's funny, I've never considered this. Watch to look like a Nautilus or a Royal oak. To me it looks like a Rolex Day-Date with a weird bezel.
