That's a decent $50-100K/year job where your boss can't suddenly interrupt or choose to micromanage you. There's no way going full time is more conducive to success than a secure financial situation.

There's a movie from the 70s called "The King of Comedy" about a guy who obsessively stalks a famous tv comedian in order to become a celebrity himself. It's supposed to be a satirical take on our obsession with fame as a culture and the lengths people are willing to go to get it. Now these people came along to recreate that plot but this time in their own lives without any consideration that what they're doing could be considered wrong.

I've noticed that a lot of things are dismissed when they're famous, paparazzi is a big example, but even things such as them taking upskirt pictures of female celebrities is 'fine' because they're famous (this has been a thing, not sure if it's still common).

I feel like the reason people don't view this horrific stalking as a bad thing is because it's all platonic rather than romantic/sexual. If someone slept outside another person's house until they kissed them (even on the cheek), people would naturally be digusted, but replace kissing with hugging, and suddenly this massive violation of boundaries is a-ok. It's why people say children are ungrateful when they hate getting hugged without their permission when in reality, the kid has a right to not feel comfortable being hugged. I think more people need to understand that boundaries are important regardless of what they are, and that it doesn't stop at romantic/sexual gestures.
When I was a kid, I was forced to kiss my moms friend on the lips for a photo because she thought it would be cute to post and no one and an issue with that. People are just messed up and don’t care who is hurt if it entertains them

If it's not okay to sit outside a stranger's house for 70 days, waiting for a hug, why is it okay to do the same thing if the stranger is a celebrity? I really don't understand what goes on in those people's head. They are a stranger to those celebrities and it's incredibly creepy to be stalked by a complete stranger. You don't know if they are clout chasers, obsessed, or potentially dangerous.
I wonder if it’s related to the bystander effect, only like, reversed. They think if the person is a celebrity, that person must have tons of stalkers and crazy fans, so they’re used to it, thus it’s no big deal (but of course they’re wrong, it is a big deal and very unsettling and dangerous).

It's the endless hunger for clout. They just fail to realize that clout can't be achieved like this. It has to be organic for it to really mean something. You have to do something you love in an entertaining way, and stalking people isn't that (,unless you're deranged).
Picture any popular person you actually remember. That actually means something. None of them did this shit to get where they are. They started at the bottom and worked their way up with talent and personality. Taking shortcuts like stalking Mr Beast in pursuit of clout is never the proper way to do things. Never.
The term social hacking is really fitting. These people are kickstarting their influencer career by cutting out normal social behavior.
"kick-starting" would imply that it keeps going afterwards. It almost never does in this type of situation. You have one big thing, and then everything else flops. It's really sad that this is becoming a "strategy" for people that want to start making content. If any wannabe content creator is reading this -- you have to start your way from the bottom and earn experience climbing up in order to stay there. If you start out like this on the top with nothing but a one-time wonder in your pocket, the wind's going to blow you down and kill you from fall damage.

literally a few days ago a customer at my job repeatedly asked me when i got off work, and even though i’d lied to him, i was so scared i had to call my dad to pick me up. even the idea that a stranger might decide to find out where i live had me in tears, so the idea of doing this to someone for a fun cool video is absolutely horrific and beyond comprehension to me.
also, god, that first example video was insane; imagine thinking “i want to see the poorest people in the poorest country” is not only a normal thought to have and thing to say, but to actually follow through and go to an ORPHANAGE to do it

I forgot the name of the UA-camr off the top of my head, but there’s a latam UA-camr who’s a known Tom holland stalker and is often rewarded for it by getting to interview him at least a couple times iirc and stuff like that. He has Tom hollands daily routine memorized down to the minute so he would know when Tom would be in his hotel or home vs outside somewhere else, it was terrifying

I think it's pretty important to note that this is not new, people have been stalking celebrities for a very very long time and this is just what it looks like in the internet age. Kind of insane.

Yeah I think a big difference is that people are now getting famous and making money off being stalkers. That wasn't really a thing that happened before.
Also youtubers are generally much smaller celebs and have much less access to proper security and often less familiarity with interacting with fans. So you have people who are basically just normal people, some with not even that big of a following, dealing with stalkers and weird parasocial nonsense.

Just because you watch their content religiously doesn't mean there is any connection between you two. Danny is one of the best people for this video bc he's so relatively normal (compared to other creators). Seeing him get deeply uncomfortable at this really put this into perspective for me.
It's actually pretty amazing that he could kick open a door and scare the shit out of his girlfriend, causing her to scream, but it is somehow neither funny or even noteworthy because literally everything is at 11/10. I have the same, glazed over eyes look on my face thru every second of his video clips.
Its funny that you mention Fidias and Airrack in the same video. Fidias built up his channel from basically stalking Airrack until Airrack finally accepted a gift off him then branched off after being a side character for a year.

the guy wanted to talk about how bad stalking people for clout is.... by stalking someone? he couldn't just.... talk about it?

He is still exploiting the system, while saying "look how absurd the system is?"
Like, he would still get (and got) views, clout, etc, by doing that. He can say he did to prove a point, but he still wanted to do it and get the benefits of it either way

I am not really sure how this Tweet shows that this was his intention tbh. It sounds like the intro to a Mr. Beast-ified video. Not a video about how bad stalking celebrities is. Like how does this whole thing even show it? Because he wasn't able to get to Mr. Beast? Or because Mr. Beast responded annoyed? Like nothing he did showed anything about the culture. He just DID it. Nothing more, nothing less.

I gotta say, being someone who has created videos since literally year one of UA-cam's existence, where for years I couldn't get any of my friends to act in parody skits with me "because it's so stupid and lame" to seeing the lengths these strange, strange children (I'm almost 40, everyone under 25 is a child to me) go for a "viral video" is such a bizarre feeling.

“Airrack seems like a nice dude” Let’s see he 1. Polluted a lake and almost got someone fired 2. Said he was gonna donate 10,000 dollars to a place where the economy is absolutely TERRIBLE 3. Had a pilot ask for anonymity but he used his real name and said it was a fake name 4. Trash talked said pilot for things he didn’t even do and 5. Instead of going to the place where the economy is sh** instead hung out at a resort. That was all in two two part videos.
I think it would've been a good bit, if Pinely was at Danny's house. Imagine he walks into to the room at the end, and starts making fun of Mr. Beast clones.
Ok um this is definitely unsettling 😶 but um yeah this is why I consider UA-camrs like you guys to be brave and have a lot of respect for. I really hope there’s a way to stop this stalking issue 😣
