    I just wanted to say "Thanks." This and other videos on the Titan helped me make the decision to buy a 2015 Titan Pro-4x Crew Cab. I have had the truck for a full year now, and don't regret my decision for a second. In fact, here comes my review 12 months and 16,000 miles later:
    Sure I could have had better gas mileage, a fancier interior, or an American brand but the Titan works great for my needs. The factory BFG tires, although sufficiently capable, can't seem to do much off-roading without a flat. But almost everything else is great (I plan to get BFG All-Terrain T/As when the stock rubber wears out.) I even decided not to lift the truck since I so enjoy the fragile balance between off-road capability and on-road handling. Oh, and the Titan is unbelievable in snow, ice, and rain. The stability/traction system works better than any vehicle I have ever owned. Although it reacts quickly to my leadfoot leaving a stop sign or light, at-speed it is akin to having bumpers in the gutters for bowling. I wouldn't trade my Titan for a Raptor, or a new Titan. I love the sunroof, Rockford Fosgate premium sound (with subwoofer under driver's seat), power rear window, a/c power in the cabin and bed, effective parking sensors/backup camera especially for hooking up a trailer solo, and the timeless rugged good looks. While the navigation, bluetooth, and infotainment system sucks royally, it's terribleness does give me a good laugh on occasion. Phone calls and texts (Samsung, Android) always work well, although I often have trouble getting Pandora to work. XM Satellite radio is nice and can be renewed for $5/month (in multi-month increments) if you call and complain about the monthly rate.
    I watched you test a 2017 V8 Endurance Pro-4x going up a rocky steep road. I personally challenge the new gas Pro-4x to a contest versus mine. Although I lack 60 horsepower, I make up in reduced weight and have plenty of torque to spare (along with lower gearing for the 5 speed Pro-4x). Also, a really good place to test vehicles, in Colorado, is the area outside of Crested Butte. The new Pro-4x doesn't look as good, has less ground clearance, and exceeds the maximum size for a good off-road vehicle (I believe my Titan is the max size for decent off-road capability while retaining usefulness as a tow, haul, and daily drive vehicle.)

      I've had a 2012 Titan for 11 months now and I'm quite pleased with it in all respects. I redid a lot of the suspension because while technically mechanically sound it just felt worn out. I also did some exhaust work to get rid of that stock 'tractor' type of sound. This engine sounds awesome when you give the room to breath that it needs.
      The gas mileage could be better, yes, but my budget was $22,000 and I picked up the Titan itself for $14,500 - which put more money in my pocket for modifications or updates.
      I can spend $30,000 CAD on gas and still not be up to the cost of a new F-150 or RAM or Silverado - for how much I drive that's gas for the next 7 years. So gas mileage? Not a big deal to me.

      I've had the crew cab 15 pro-4x for 4 years and 45k miles. No issues except a rear pinion seal leak and the nav/radio unit volume button quit working. I really like the truck because it's not over blown with technology and soccer mom shit. I put a cold air intake and cat back exhaust and it improved the mpg by about 1-2.

    I have this very truck, color and all, but crew cab. It crawls through snow fields and anything effortlessly. As far as the comment on "cheap plastics", that goes for almost anything and everything out there. It's the design, is what they should have said. To add to that, any man in his right mind, wants simple and easy for a fully capable off road truck. No guy wants to go cleaning details in an off road truck. Keep it simple and easy, wipe off and go. I've driven literally, almost any truck out there and they all use mostly plastic for interior that looks cheap. Only difference is design.
    The ride is great, Ford F-series trucks are about the closest to this nice of a ride. I have a lot of respect for Ford trucks, but love this one more!

      What kind of fuel economy can you achieve in your Titan? I really like them but am hesitant to get one as many people say they average 11..thats just too low for me.

    • @gtxc4214
      @gtxc4214 9 років тому

      I average around 14 city/neighborhood driving. On the highway a little over 16. I just got my Airaid MXP in on Friday and the controller/computer is still adjusting to it a bit, but it's already going up a little. Most people that drive easy with this intake saw as much as a 2mpg increase. I drive easy. If you floor it and get on it, then Yes, you will be around 10mpg. I will say that new I was 11.4 - 11.7 until the 1200 mile break in and as crazy as it was, MPG went up and I was 13.6 to a tad over 14mpg around town. Now waiting to see how the intake does. Honestly, I love the truck the more I dive it and so does the family. It's a real blessing. Hope this helps you some. Take care!

    First Impressions: Yes, it is 10 years old but on the flip side It's 10 years old. It's been here for ten years. For what it is and the class it's in the Titan is a good middle of the ground compromise. That being said, I can't wait to see the new Nissan Titan XD!

    Arguably the best looking full size around, in my opinion. Nissan has always brought new innovations in the truck world. First compact truck. First long bed compact truck. First 4 drs in a compact truck. First true full size pickup. First standard V8 in a fullsize. Guaranteed the next truck will have new innovations that the others will copy. Hopefully Nissan will keep their trucks off road capable and not try to compete against luxury sedans which is why price tags have soared past 50K.

  • @lkcampbell9795
    @lkcampbell9795 10 років тому +2

    Personally, the plastic interior doesn't bother me at all. I mean, it is a pickup truck after all. Meaning that it will likely receive a good deal of hard use and it will be very easy to clean afterwards. When I look at something like consumer reports, it is usually just the high tech stuff that trucks have in them these days that give people problems. I currently drive a 2WD 2009 Dodge RAM with the regular cab and the older 3.7L V6. The extras are super minimal. My truck has yet to give me the first problem. I'll be glad to see the Titan get the transmission with more speeds and the diesel engine option, but I really don't have ANY problems with this truck as is.

  • @Jeffo168
    @Jeffo168 11 років тому +2

    Good Review, The Titan is getting dated but I don't think the interior is that bad. yes the materials need upgrading but I think it looks more modern then the Interior in the new GM trucks, I mean they still use a 1980's column shift and the dash as well.

    nice truck, I have the 2010 Nissan Armada Titanium , we love it, it has Power and torque to spare, Will run over 100mph in a flash. 0 to 60 is like a Dragster for a 7000lb suv. have seen 19.5 mpg on hi way 12 to 17mpg is average. has the big towing package 9400lbs is impressive . The 5.6L is a well built torque monster. Pulls like a Mule and runs out of the gate like a Hot rod !!

    @Stuka87 11 років тому +1

    I actually really like the raspy sounding exhaust that it has. And it is dated. When it first came out, it way a good ways ahead of the others. And it was the first full size truck to come from the factory with 33's.

  • @Middle850
    @Middle850 5 років тому

    I know these videos are to test a stock truck from the factory, but most who off road at all or even going hunting driving through muddy fields etc.. add a more aggressive tire than a road radial. Take this Titan, add a leveling kit and set of Toyo MT’s then go test it. A big difference I guarantee you

    Nissan was dealt a major blow when the truck they were co-developing with Dodge/Ram was cancelled. I am glad they didn't pack it in and pull out of the full-size market, but developing an entirely new truck will take time. I respect they are trying to do it right rather than half-hearted like Toyota. Still, a minor cosmetic refresh along with the QX's 5.6 and 7 speed powertrain would have likely brought them more sales.

      I'll chalk that one up to'u don't have a clue'. besides MPH my numbers are just about the same as 'the big 3' and its 10yrs old. and $10k less at the time

      in '05 when I bought it, it was either #1 or #2 in EVERY area when compared to the 'big 3' with their highest options. bigger crew cab, more HP, more Torque, towed more (1/2 ton), carried more, better clearance. MPH was close to the same and it was 10K less than all but toyota. I even asked chevy to just match the price and I would still buy theirs, but I couldn't buy a lesser truck for more money. so fast forward 10yrs. I have not had 1 issue (other than the MPH) and the truck is paid off. so unless I want to drop another 50K+ on a top model, my truck still matches up. I know its dated and they didn't give many options (if any) and been progressive, but all the other 4 trucks didn't start getting their acts together until mine actually showed up.

    I love watching tflt but i feel that Roman is very prejudice toward other trucks, i just feel that he is a ford guy or nothing, yeah for is the est selling truck in america yada yada, but combine gmc and chevy together out sells ford 3 to 1. I dont know, just my opinion i really like watching the channel this is just my only complaint.

      I had a 05 frontier, never had a problem. Didn't even change a light bulb in it. Just maintenance. Traded it for a Titan after 110K trouble free miles. My buddy has 04 Titan, except for the recall on the front brakes, never has had a problem with it. I've had my Titan for about 3yrs, 52K on the pro4x and haven't had a problem. I'm old school, rather have a big v8 with a 5speed tranny. Even tho a 6th gear would be nice. Don't like the new ones, even tho the interior is very nice.

    I think Nissan missed by not offering a smaller V8 in the Titan. As it is they drink a lot of gas and you really don't have an option that most people would live with as a daily driver. That is really kind of a shame because the Titan isn't a bad truck.

  • @mak450

    You're taking that a bit out of context, that test was more biased towards off roading than usual truck duty. So even if the Tacoma did score higher in that PUTC test, it doesn't really prove they can make a truck. And as far as the test is concerned, all things considered the Power Wagon did better in the off road sections, it ended up in third because it has the usual faults HD trucks do.

    Oh & the new Cummins is great for people who are towing, but would REALLY like to see Nissan Corp. offer a couple different powertrain options like some of their competitors do! Personally if i could buy a Brand New Nissan Titan with their direct injection VVEL VK56VD (400HP/400+TQ), 7 Speed Auto Trans that's currently a standard option on the Infiniti QX56's, i would trade in my '05 & be a HAPPY MAN!!!! :)

    Thanks for the review guys! Eagerly awaiting the 2015 changes. What the entire US wants to know, or maybe it's just me LOL, is:
    1 - "When is Nissan bringing the Navara's 3.0 v6 diesel to the US with a 6 speed manual in the Frontier?"
    2 - "When is Nissan bringing the Navara's 7 speed auto to the US Frontier for US wimps who cannot drive a manual?"
    But mostly, it's all about the manual!

    I actually like the exterior of this truck! Inside to me seems a bit bland in the looks department but it ain't supposed to be a luxury truck. As for electronics for me simple is good! Now as much as I hate to complain. Please grow up and stop the Juvenal delinquent talk. I would like to share some of these video's with Church people but the stupid vulgarity stops me. Now when you compare this truck to the Chevy. Well if the 6.2 can't smoke a 5.6 I would be surprised.But it still should be interesting as to how bad and what does each truck cost.

    CAFE is forcing trucks to become behemoths to reduce the mpg requirements. Nissan should wedge a 4.0L V6 under the hood, and keep the old King Cab Titan as the next Frontier. Whatever it takes to keep MSRP under median household income.

    • @shanej.8261
      @shanej.8261 11 років тому +8

      That is because it took 10 years and at least two model changes for the big 3 to catch up. At least Toyota got it right. People fail to see or remember that when the Titan came out there was not a half ton truck even remotely as advanced(right word?) as the Titan. IMO Ford is the only one right now of the big 3 that I would consider. Eco Boost 150 is a beast with out a doubt. STill today even at 10 years old the Titan is up to date to every half ton made, there only down fall is they don't have a larger or smaller engine package but the 5.6l VH56 still gets it done with it's silly smooth 5 speed Auto (first ever in class BTW)

      Would have to disagree with you. My frontier was the best truck I ever owned. Could keep up with the big boys. Got a 2012 pro4x mainly cause of price. They haven't changed since 04. Thats why I like it. No 8 speed tranny or ton of electronics. Have you tried towing in traffic with that? Horrible. Titian has a lot of hard plastic, but still comfortable chairs, good low in torque and can go anywhere any other truck can for 15 grand less. If you want gas mileage go diesel

    In a vacuum the Titan is an excellent truck. Unfortunately 11 years have passed since it's introduction and there's better trucks out there. Why someone would buy a 2014 Titan instead of a lightly used one and save $5-15K is beyond me.

      Ian Clancy Yep, and Nissan knows this. Not so much that the depreciation factor, but the last couple model years before a major redesign is the best time to buy any vehicle as people tend to hold out for the new one, and generally all the kinks are worked out. Dealerships in my area are currently blowing new Titans out for $10,000 - $15,000 below MSRP
