Hi Ritch , man I love your instructional bass lesson videos, I abserved in many of your videos I can hardley hear the notes that you are playing. I don't Have a hearing problem and I don't know if any of the other people who watch, and listen to your videos mentioned this to you before now:but I can hardly hear the notes that you are trying to teach us. Man you are one of the best bass teachers that I know the way you explain things, and makes it seem so easy and simple to do. I love that. So is there a way for you to make the notes that you are playing a little louder? so we can hear them better? Thanks man keep doing nwhat you are doing ,people like me need it. God bless .

you are a great teacher with relevant material. The only thing that is missing is the act of utilization. If you would, after each presentation, do a short application you would have reached a crescendo of a good presentation. People want to know how to use the new knowledge.

Rich you've really expanded my repertoire of licks with your lessons on pentatonics, and I've been playing for some time now, thanks so much. I've used these positional concepts and applied them with natural/harmonic minor scales (took some time mapping them out, but I gutted through lol) and it's helped me come up with some seriously rockin' riffs. Plus, the FNITW really crosses genres, it just always sounds good to me. Another tip of the hat to you sir.

Funkiest note in the world for the win! So good…extending the pentatonic up and down the neck in all positions is an amazing tool, especially when you realize that you just extended the major pentatonic at the same time. :)

Would you consider the F# as a major 6 for the A minor scale or a b5 in the C major scale? Where would you use the funkiest note in the world?
Yes! The F# becomes the sharp 11 on a major harmony, which is the hippest note in the world! 😎

Another way to think of this is Dorian minus the 2nd when the fnitw is added. Btw, i think the funkiest note in the world is 2 notes, the minor and major 3rds together like peanut butter and jelly. Oh yeah, and i gotta review pentatonic pairs, they sound so good.

Half question, half observation - saw a video on using the CAGED system for solo’ing on guitar. Figured there should be an application to the bass, and using only a 4-string, I found it to be useful in trying build out shapes to use all down the fretboard. Wondering if you’ve encountered this “system” and if you saw value in exploring and sharing its potential application for us bass players.

Did I miss something? You said "The 6th is the funkiest note." Is the funkiest note F# or the 6th? Pertaining to A Maj it is F#, Min the 6th is F. (You see I am attempting to pay attention.)
