i would advise you that if that is a vinyl or latex mask to cover the foam head in some way because thoes foam heads can dryrot the latex and ive heard it can damage vinyl too so take a plasicbag or you could even rap the whole thing in tape just to make sure the mask is good for years to come

That could definitely be done! Just remember the heavier it is on top, the tougher the pole needs to be. If you dont really need the pole to sway, that'll be easier cause you can just use conduit for the entire length of the pole.
