Thank you so much for this awesome comment. I try to break it down in ways that I would understand because if it’s too complicated, I don’t want it lol
Ok, follow up time: I finally completed my fire pit, and it’s safe to say-it came out beautifully!! I’m really excited. Isaac, I recently was not well and watched you build and teach and I have to say besides loving Halloween, Christmas and holidays you blew me away! You’re a true artist! Keep making and creating young man! Would love to see your Halloween display. Happy Halloween!

Really liked the way you made the fire and ash effect. Now that LEDs are so available covering them with Great Stuff is not a problem as they are so much more reliable than the old mini incandescent bulbs.
Looks like car wiper motor, ,a window motor also works. The extra part looks like something to slow the motor speed down. I think you can use a dimmer switch and then a power supply 120 to 12v.
Great video and cool effect. Small tip ... that white/gray paint job starting around the 3 min mark would have been way easier if you used a larger chip brush and dry brushed it. Makes hitting the high spots go way faster since you don't have to be so precise.
Fantastic work! I enjoyed the time you spent with explaining how to complete this and it looks awesome! I will be watching your channel quite a bit for your ideas and projects. Thank you for doing this.
I made this last year but the lights I chose didn't work out so well. Also, I don't think I let it dry enough before I started painting it because it continued to expand and then you could see the great foam underneath the paint. I'm going to remake it this year but I'm wondering how long you let it set before you start painting it?
Here hoping to find this exact same answer. I've been working on a cauldron and coals project for over a month off and on and had so many mishaps. I wish I had found his videos sooner along in the process of this whole project 🥴😆. He explains everything so much better and gives clear and easy instructions and is by far one of the best Tutorial makers I've come across, and I've watched TONS...lol. I'm hoping he'll see these comments and be able to tell us how long the Foam needs to dry before it's safe to start applying the paint. Before finding his videos I already wasted so much time , and a decent chunk of money, on my last attempt at coals and wasn't happy with how they turned out, so I'm starting over and I'm REALLY hoping for an answer on this . I'm terrified I'm going to screw it up and I've already put so much time into this project, especially as a whole with everything else I'm making 🙈, so needless to say this is my last chance/attempt to get it right .
I’ve done several cauldrons over the years but this one is the best I’ve ever seen, Amazing job, I will be updating mine, hopefully I can get it done before Halloween 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much . I do a haunted house in my garage and I so want to build the witch and cauldron at the entrance. What a show starter! Your video was so easy to follow. You're a great teacher.
Great tutorial!! One question the witch staff that you used, is it heavy? Did you have to do a lot of adjustments for the hands to hold the staff? And how did you mount the wood piece below the motor?
Good idea, just sort of expensive. But it gave me a great idea. I’m going to do a very low budget version incorporating the light ideas. Thanks. Awesome video.
Your channel popped up in my feed...so glad it did! I watched the witch and then this one. Thank you for the very detailed instructions. You earned a new subscriber.
Thank you so much for this awesome comment Karan! I broke it down in a way that it would be simple for anyone to follow. Hope you enjoy the upcoming Christmas tutorials that I’m uploading soon
I would put a small fog machine blowing fog into of small homemade frozen water bottle fog chiller . Have the fog machine sitting on top of the fog chiller with a 90 degree PVC turn downward blowing and cut into the chiller all under the dress of the witch. Then blow the fog through other end of the chiller going through a PVC pipe into the bottom of cauldron . Drill many small holes in acrylic so fog can fill cauldron and come out and boil over the side.
I’m planning on undertaking this project for the upcoming Halloween. Both your video and overall design are phenomenal and I’m super excited for this one. That being said I really wanted to add some kind of fog effect to it. This design looks cool, but Wicked Makers had a cauldron that looked more realistic, mostly because it had a mist effect rising from the pot. I thought it would look best to combine both ideas and have the pot stirring with fog/mist effects as well to hide the obvious non-liquid properties of the clear plate. I think the most simple way to add a fog effect to this prop would be to just buy a fog machine with a tube running into the bottom of the cauldron. The fog then rises, and slips in between the holes and crevices in the plate. I just don’t know how convincing this effect would look when put into practice. Not sure if you have an answer to this, but do you think this concept would accomplish the desired outcome? Either way, thanks again for the inspiration! This one could really steal the show for me this year if I don’t botch it.
@@amysirawskyofficial Lol, no. I still want to, but I’m also trying to budget a bit because I do have to pay for college. I doubt I’ll be able to take it on even this year, maybe next year 🤔
I had the exact same idea. On another video I watched, they attempted to have a container of water sitting inside the top of the cauldron with an ultrasonic fogger with LED lights sitting in the water to create the fog. However, what they discovered was that because the water container didn't fit snugly to the interior wall of the cauldron, the fog went over the side of the container and down the gap between the container and the inner wall of the cauldron and ended up underneath the container, almost like it had been sucked downwards. As I am making my own cauldron as well, I had a similar idea to you where I thought maybe I could hose in fog (create a tunnel/tube with some pvc pipe at the time of making the fire pit) through the bottom/side and run the hose up around the inner edge of the lip of the cauldron and puncture holes in the hose. This would only create fog around the rim of the cauldron though, unless maybe holes were also punctured on the side of the hose so the fog could be pushed out of the hose towards the centre of the cauldron. Alternatively, following your idea, hose in the fog as I suggested above but fill the whole void in the cauldron underneath the perspex plate but may need a small fan or two to push the fog gently out. It may still only flow over the sides though and not over the top of the perspex. This will be trial and error I guess.
Another possibility would be to put the fog generator inside the witch, and hose down the sleeve and stirrer to the top of the cauldron. Good haunting!
Anyone else nearly threw their phone across the room because of the spider that went across His screen while he was explaining where to put the bubbles? 😂
great stuff Fireblock foam is orange, makes a better base, dry brush black paint on for better contrast when lit, great stuff black pond foam could also work for contrasting dark coals
I disagree with using fire block foam. You would need six cans of 12 ounce fire block foam and those can be 3 to 4 times more expensive than the basic expanding foam. I would’ve had to have spent almost $70 on that type of foam and that is not cost-effective. Great for somebody who has an unlimited budget but not practical for the every day DIY’er
I love how you explained every step. I built the witch. Now working on the cauldron. Although I can't spend $70 for a monster pack. I have a wiper motor from a car. I had already bought all the couplings, nuts, washers, and the metal rod. They are a little bit to big, so now I am trying to find a way to work with what I have. LOL
Thank you so much for your kind comment and I’m so happy that my tutorial helped you. Yes, the monster pack is quite pricey, but various members have had success with a wiper motor so you’re definitely onto something! It’ll work for you
Great video. One concern though... by gluing down the center skull, you lose access to the nut holding the rod in place therefore you lose access to the light bulb in the cauldron should it ever need to be replaced. I would suggest placing the skull on a flat surface with some plastic wrap underneath. Running the hot glue around the edge and adding the paint to give the illusion that the skull is partially submerged. Then just laying the skull loosely in place.
25 dislikes? What the heck is wrong with people. This was awesome! I guess some people just love being misreable and want to share it with the world.. I hit that subscribe button!
Pro tip: if you have a jig saw and a fine tooth blade (usually labeled “for metal”), you can cut your own acrylic circles and save a few bucks. Just put masking tape over the cut line and go slowly.
Definitely awesome but you need to figure out how to incorporate a fog machine with a dual valve this way you can pump smoke underneath the bottom for the fire maybe threw a bunch of quarter inch hose with holes in it and then another inside the barrel
I know this is an older video but im currently in the middle of trying part of this project and i was wondering if you could tell me how long you let the Foam Dry before you removed the Cauldron from the middle and started applying the paint??
This was insane. The overall effect was terrifying and disturbing. The detail went beyond the typical foam fire pit look. A gentle mister from behind the cauldron would take this over the top.
Great video will definitely attempt to put this together! I am trying to get all similar size to what you had and the I cant seem to find a 17 inch cauldron. I do see the 16 inch piece of acrylic though
I’m glad you liked the video! It’s not a 17 inch cauldron you need, it’s a 22 inch cauldron with a 17 inch diameter opening. They actually have them for 20 bucks at party city. Here’s the link: www.partycity.com/extra-large-black-cauldron-87915.html
So, how do you move the fire? Did u cut out around the cardboard? I am thinking of using thin wood painted black to give support. Assume u put flickering on same step as LED? Thx
So I simply cut the cardboard once everything had dried completely. There is a layer of cardboard that was left underneath the expanding from. In hindsight it’s probably better to use thick wood - the issue with thin wood is that it tends to warp when it gets wet and you run the risk of it warping after repeated rain. And yes, the flickering flame was applied right after I applied the regular LEDs. Since the flickering flame is only 10 bulbs, you want to be strategic with it so that it doesn’t get covered with too much foam and is closest to the base of the cauldron.
