Oh, how lovely! That heartwarming outro brought a tear to my eye, I could tell how much it all meant to you and I think that is why the universe led you there, it has gone to someone deserving and special and I think that would mean a lot to Jenny. It was very touching too how much you were saying that you wanted to make some things to donate and something special for your mum, you're a very kind and thoughtful person. That teal kind of yarn where there were two cakes reminded me of the sea, sort of a sea blue if there is such a thing? The last type of yarn I haven't used before but with the amount that was there all of the same yarn I can imagine a lovely shawl/jumper/cardigan, feel like it would make something lovely and cosy. The finer yarn I can see a lovely lacy scarf perhaps, something with intricate stitching that shows up the yarn and lets it shine. Enjoy all of this, I think it's really special that you found some yarn from Bendigo wool as well, knowing how much that would mean to you as well, you were definitely in the right place at the right time!! :)
Aww, thank you so much my friend, that means a lot 🙏 💗 I definitely have a lot of research ahead of me, even if it's just to track down brands and colourways - that beautiful sea blue I would love to identify - it's going to be hard though as the true colour just doesn't want to show up on camera - it just looks like a standard blue so I can't reverse image search for it or anything. Still, I will do my best. Yes, I think the boucle yarn would make a lovely jumper or shawl too - thanks for the suggestion! It's lovely and soft and the colours were just beautiful! Cosy and warm is definitely the vibe it gives off. Thank you again for such a kind comment, you're comments always just make my day, so thank you 🙏💗💜
Oh that's lovely, thanks so much for pinning my comment, that made my day and was very sweet and kind! I'm sure it will be challenging but rewarding when doing your research into some of the mystery yarns, maybe you could invite Jenny out for lunch/coffee and cake and do a bit of an interview and ask her what the trickiest ones are?? Hearing that back story was really interesting, especially with what you said about what she used to do for work, so it would be great to hear more about that and solve some of your burning questions at the same time! 😉😊☕
Somehow I missed this video, but I wanted to say...Wow! My late mother in-law was an avid crafter. She left enough yarn to clothe a small country, when she passed 😂 I scored Bendigo Woollen Mills magnificent Alpaca, Merino, and pure wool. I often wonder how long she'd been collecting it. Many of the colour codes were in the 100's. I think we're now in the 700's or 800's? I made her sons and their wives a beanie each along with 3x D/Q sized blankets. So that gives you an idea of how much yarn there was 😂❤
Mel, the first thing I would do is go to an op-shop and get a wardrobe to put it in so I could open the doors and look at it every day. I drooled when I saw the Bendigo Dk Plum. With the blue Vera for mum, I would make a beautiful floaty shawl and with the Katia Perla, a cowl. I don't think you have to use it all, just admire how beautiful it is. Very happy for you. 💞
Good day 🤓 I'm new here, but what a phenomenal haul!😮😍 I've crocheted since junior high school (U.S.) and learned by watching my older sister. I would think there's enough of the chocolatey brown merino -with 20 "donuts" to make your hubby a cardigan/sweater or pullover. Those 4 hanks a vest, the wool ease I would make a nice size blanket seeing as all the colors and skeins work well together 😀. SO many hours of fun ahead 😄! Enjoy
Oh yeah I was in junior high in the '70s. For an idea of how long I've crocheted 😁. Also looking forward to your follow up video on the pattern books and hooks.😊
G'day Darrin! 👋 Welcome to the Yarniverse! 🤗 💜 Thank you so much for the suggestions, and for sharing your story with me! I love that you learned by watching your sister crochet, that's really lovely. I think your suggestions are great and I can't wait to get started! You've been crocheting for a while now, so I can imagine you've seen a lot of trends come and go. I'll bet you have some wonderful stories to tell! 😃
You will have hours of fun with this haul! I scored just over 50 balls of mixed yarn a few weeks ago, it worked out to just under $1 Canadian each. It is very exciting for us yarnies Enjoy it all!
Absolutely! I just couldn't believe it! Nothing like this had ever happened to me before so I was absolutely shocked when I found it! I just hope all of you will have a day like this, it was truly amazing 🤗💜
Mel, I have visions of you in a corner with crochet hooks and knitting needles going like mad with you barely able to keep your eyes open. Go girl!!! What à haul, 😮
@ your welcome. I understand when you are overwhelmed with wool where do you begin, what colour or texture of the wool enjoy your yarn. Looking forward to your next project. 🧶🧶🌟👍
This is a dream come true! So fun to watch. I once found a big hall of yarn in a thrift store, and though it was really higher end yarns, it was not half of what you showed us! I wish I knew what pattern you used for your gorgeous jacket.
Thanks so much, Lisa! 🙏💗 I'm sure your haul was still amazing! The hexagon cardigan I'm wearing was the first wearable I made for myself! I followed this tutorial by Kelly from 'Craft and a Cuppa' ua-cam.com/video/EBKYLkmOaHE/v-deo.htmlsi=8mP899HSwigTbHAI Let me know if you make one 😃💗
Oh wow, for some reason, I just assumed you'd be able to find Aussie brands in NZ? 🤔 Ok, so now I'm curious about NZ yarns... I know my mum found some possum wool when we were in Wellington a few years ago, and the scarf she made me from the wool was one of the warmest and softest things I've ever owned! I can't remember the name of the brand, unfortunately, but it was magnificent wool! 🧶💜
I have made a lot of prayer shawls with the boucle yarn. It makes really nice soft, warm shawls. My friend and I donated the shawls to a memory care facility. I have a wooden tabletop swift. It was very affordable and has worked well for me. I use mine with a yarn winder. It you or someone you know is handy, they could make one for you very cheaply. You don't have to shell out a ton of money for an umbrella swift. (It would make a dandy Christmas gift!) Just google DIY tabletop swift. Congrats on the yarn. I'm looking forward to your next video on the books and hooks! Take care.
Thank you so much! 🙏💜 Prayer shawls would be lovely with the boucle yarn! What a great idea 🤗 And good on you for donating the one's you made, I am sure they were absolutely beautiful and very much appreciated! 💗 I'll have to see if I can find a DIY swift - thank you so much for the tip! 🤗 💗💜💗
Wow, you find the best yarn. I do not find any yarn at thrift stores or yard sales. Of course I do live in South Florida where it is hot all the time. I make a lot of fingering weight shawls because they are so light for the Florida weather.
Hi Julie 👋 Light shawls are still lovely projects to work on, but I can understand your frustration too! What kind of fibers do you use for your shawls?
A scarf and hat set maybe for your mom that looks like it might be enough for a decent scarf and hat though you could pair another color with it to stretch it out futher
Ha ha ha 😂 I wanted to! 😂 I thought I'd better leave at least some of it for other people, though. To be fair, I had to drive almost an hour to get there, and I only saw 2 other people attend the sale so it wasn't like it was a busy place e with lots of other people there. I spent almost an hour there, just talking to her and chatting about yarn and all things crochet, and no one else came, so I didn't feel too badly about buying the amount that I did. 💗
Mel, that was amazing! I would love to see Jenny on here sometime, she would be a wealth of knowledge! Can't wait for the next one!!!😍. Thank you! Megan from Arkansas ❤️
Aww, thank you so much! That is really sweet of you 🙏💜 Yes, the neutral colours are just lovely aren't they? And they feel so beautiful too - it's a shame I can't pass it through the TV to you! 🧶🤗💗
Fortunately you can work on one skein/ ball/ project at a time! Once that is done you can then decide on the next skein of ball. You don't have to decide on everything right now. Just enjoy it!
Absolutely sage wisdom, thanks Iris 🙏💗 I do think I just need to sit with it and let the yarn tell me what it wants to be and just let it come to me. 💗💜💗
That’s amazing. I have an idea for the cuddles yarn. Crochet water balloons 🎈 so the smaller yarn would work with that :) Good luck and have fun with it all!!

@kaytiej8311 Thanks for that suggestion, Kaytie! I'll definitely check it out. I love the Ophelia Talks Crochet channel 😍 Anja does a wonderful job with her videos 😊
Hi Jackie 👋 Using the bamboo to make bandanas is a wonderful idea! Thank you so much! 😃🙏💗
What luck! You hit the jackpot. How much was this fantastic haul? I think you died and went to heaven!! You are so nice to donate your hard work.
Hi Sophie 👋
I paid $150 AUD ($97.80 USD) total for all of it, including all the patterns and crochet hooks and some other cotton's that weren't in this video, so I definitely think I got an amazing deal! 😀 I'll showcase the patterns and other items in another video soon 😊💗💜
What a wonderful find! So much beautiful yarn! If you really can’t decide what to do with a yarn, I can send you my address…….😜😄
😂 I would share it all with you if I could!💖
