Wow that's quite some ride Hugh. Doesn't it just show that a nicely maintained Classic of modest size is perfectly capable of long distances. Had to smile at the digestive biscuit problems though and it reminded me of the A65 BSA I had which very successfully perforated a 5 litre can of wood preserver I carried home on the rack. Very messy.
Hello and thank you. Yes, they do vibrate a bit. I won't take digestives again but something more resilient. The A65 was a beautiful bike very much a larger C15 with an extra cylinder.
I really enjoy watching your videos! I have been riding for donkey years and have had so much fun on smaller bikes and have always preached it's not the size that counts...
Thanks for this video Hugh. It brought back lovely memories for me. My Father had a C15 he bought it new in 1965 it had the points in the side of the engine, it was red and chrome on the tank and according to the DVLA it’s still on the road somewhere. They all have that distinctive sound I was 17 at the time and it was a nice bike to ride. We stayed in Nairn back in May and traveled over the Lecht and Gran town on Spey, we went up to Durness, Ullapool and we enjoyed it so much we have already booked up again for next May 2025. Ride Safe.
Beautiful ride. Glade the rain finally gave you a break At least you had decent mudguards. At 17,i was to stupid to appreciate them. Always brings back memories.
It was a lovely run, Tim, except when the rain came. I never take it out in the rain treating it like a Faberge egg! Thanks for watching and commenting.
A cracking ride Hugh, some of my favourite roads and quite an achievement on the C15, it certainly accredited it’s self on the hills, the climb up to the Lecht is power sapping for modern bikes, well done 👍
What a trip 210 miles in one day on a c15, I take my hat off to you. I really start to suffer after 150 miles on my bike. I quite like the voice over on the video, we still get the sound of the mighty c15 and the wonderful views of the countryside so what’s not to like. Thanks Hugh.
Thank you Frank for commenting again. It is actually a surprisingly comfortable wee bike. The handle bars are at the right position as are the footrests and controls. However, I may not tackle that distance again, certainly not this year!
You are blessed to have so many lightly traveled scenic roads to explore. When my wife and I go out for a jaunt along the left coast of America we normally get stuck within a herd of humans. Thanks for taking us along!
@@Team-fabulous Thanks so much. That's very kind after the poor audio on it. I love and hate my C15. When it goes well it goes well but it often decides not to!
Well my friend, the audio as you say was shockingly bad. But the voice over helped massively. What a lovely ride !! Some fantastic views and you made it home safe. Still another fantastic video. Keep them coming. All the very best
Thank you for that. I am so sorry about the sound. I did 210 miles chatting away to myself and should not have bothered. For the time being I am going back to letting the camera pick up the sound of the engine and add comment after. Thank you for taking time to comment.

Thank you Hugh for another wonderful video, the C15 is running really well. Your journey brought back some wonderful memories for me. I used to live just outside Forres at Kinloss when I served in the RAF. I used to go fishing at Lochindorb, what a wonderful, quiet, wild place. I need to get my 62 C15 back on the road, but my time at the moment is taken up with a 55 A10 which is proving "interesting"! Greetings from Ontario.
Hello Ontario and thank you for your nice comment. Lochindorb is wonderful but people are discovering it and on a sunny day it can get a wee bit busy. Glad my film rekindled memories.
There are many more efficient machines to navigate your magnificent landscape, but few more romantic than the little BSA. Adventure is a state of mind, not engine displacement.
Many thanks for the ride Hugh. The C15 performed wonderfully. A great trip in the day for the little bike. The gearbox oil loss is a curiosity. Cheers, Peter.
@@Lanes-Explorer5733 I had a machine shop machine a groove for the kickstart shaft which takes an O-ring. It did leak along the shaft but that is sorted. I also fitted a new mainshaft bush as I could see a leak from there. I am wondering if it is leaking internally directly into the engine due to poor casing surfaces. Does the vacuum of the engine draw it in. I don't know. I may do another stripdown this winter.
Just thinking of you tonight as my daughter is having a few days around Inverness. Ive managed to get myself a Royal Enfield Constellation for some longer distance touring. Maybe our paths will cross someday. Thats some day out you did there, a testament to your preparation. Hope you are well Kind Regards Stuart Bell from South of the Border.
Hi Hugh enjoying your videos, may I please make a suggestion, when you arrived at your old school you commented but can I suggest you stop at these places and do a small reminiscing of your days there and let us have a look around it. Manu thanks
Hi Stuart and thanks again for your comment. The RE Constellation is a bonny bike. It is a lot bigger than my wee bike so should cover distance easily. If we do meet up it will be with you tearing past me!
@@MrBeracah If you knew me you would see I am fairly shy but I can understand you wanting more information. My old primary school is now a private home, a new school having been built a mile or so away. I will try and give more information.
Very good roads for wandering on an old motorcycle and your C15 looks fine. I wonder where the gearbox oil goes? There don't seem to be drips but maybe I just don't see them. Another pleasing video. I hope you're well.
Hello William and thank you again for commenting. You have watched a few of my films so you will know the gearbox leaks are a constant problem. I am certain it is internal. I have very little external leaks now thanks to Loctite 518. I may strip the engine again to try again. I am wondering if it is the cases not sealing internally. I am thinking of stripping, taking out the internals, putting back together with a bright light inside and looking for light leaks with an endoscope.
@@hopskihh8602 Wow you are going to notice a power difference! But you will smile each time you go out on it. Thanks Hugh. I was told less ethanol is best hence E5 and use Esso if possible. I have owned an A65 and A10 for 40 years but both are being restored so I'm used to less speed 😊
@@stevehopkins5889 I have not noticed any carb issues or valve issues with E10. I did change to a plastic float. I would just use it and not worry. It is cheaper too. Wouldn't it be lovely if we could still get the old leaded stuff.
