Sarah Connor Has Always Been Ahead of Her Time - Feat. Linda Hamilton

  • Thirty-five years ago, when Sarah Connor had her first run-in with Skynet in 1984’s The Terminator, there was no way to predict what she would eventually become: a pop-culture mainstay, the prototype for the modern action heroine, and a model of strength and femininity existing side by side. But behind those signature sunglasses is an actress who has continually been committed to making Sarah Connor as real and grounded as possible.
    Linda Hamilton is returning to her iconic role in 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate, so Vulture sat down with her to discuss the evolution of Sarah Connor and what the character has taught the world about women in action cinema.

    I didn't know that Linda Hamilton had so much input into that character, I love the fact that she said she wanted Sarah Connor to be strong, but not take away her femininity. She is truly a woman who guides her own career.

      This video reminds me of exactly that. I always wondered why I wasn’t interested at all in the movies that didn’t happen to include her. I mean, I was a big fan of the original two. Makes all the sense in the world that the audience would relate to her and would need to, instead of it just being “crazy cyborg and action”.

    Linda Hamilton is so on point with leaving the long hair and not cutting it. It definitely feminized the character. I have to say that after seeing the current movie T: Dark Fate, it did bother me that the cyborg had a bowl hair cut. I didn't like it at all because it looked too much of a boy. Thank you Linda for playing such a great role and feminizing it. And you are still a bad *ss in it.

    I think they captured the argument perfectly. The Terminator... is incomplete without Sarah Connor. The Terminator itself is always a fixed constant, a robot. • @claysmell
      @claysmell 4 роки тому +1

      @Fino Menezes The script and delivery is clearly burly (not bully). The script is written as "burly-beef". My guess is that it has to do with portion size. The statue in front is a fat guy with a huge burger, and the name of the place is Big Jeff's. Since it's clearly some type of burger joint, the burly-beef platter is probably the biggest platter they have. The meat is likely sirloin steak. I doubt it's corned beef, that would be too sophisticated for this place which looks like a rip off of the Bob's Big Boy chain.

      Yeah the John Connor death was too bad and this movie's biggest weakness. Loved Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor though. She is forced into a life as the savior of humanity against her will, but also one with zero respect. A fugitive from the law despite literally saving the world. Hated by authorities even as she continues to fight for humanity.

    Todays cinema puts men down to lift the female leads up. It's a sad message.

    Cheap film?.. no matter what Ingmar Bergman fans (including myself) might say ..T1 is an amazing film. Bleak..great soundtrack.. you could feel the dystopia. Those 80's synth music and of course the main theme is epic.
    Ta tan tan ta tann. And that metal sound.. at the end of the phrase. All robotic. But its a primitive sound. Maybe metal? Maybe a leftover of mankind?

    She was absolutely iconic and the movie was indeed “sacred”. Which is why people dislike the new movie so much. The newest iteration is worse than all the other sequels after judgement day. Translating elderly people into their former roles seems cool but to say it’s easier for male characters is a lie. You simply need to embody the significance of the original character, not desecrate it.
