They did this in just the right time, an epic song was reborn and the Boss got a real push!! A pop/punk/rock version that to me is just as good as the original, they both have their charm!!!
This was actually the first time I ever heard this song was on this episode, and I looked for it forever but couldn't find it (this was before the Internet), finally found out that Bruce Springsteen wrote it.
@@seanart1508 A friend brought me the maxi-single of Relax back from London, way before it appeared on radio shows and charts. Yup, Relax before 2 Tribes. Fun times.
Always loved their cover

Besides Morrissey and Sinead… Best performance on SNL ever!

November 10, 1984 episode of Saturday Night Live with George Carlin hosting
The Frankie version, the only version.
Great post!
Thanks!
I will die on this hill, but Frankie's version is superior to the original...
Got your back as any troops advance on us!
Whatever happens we will bring you back home ✊
I am from NJ and agree. Better than Bruce.
Springsteen Even acknowledged it.
He said he hated it because it was so perfect, especially with the bass solo.
The bass solo closes the deal. This is THE best version
Looks like rice Springsteen and the e street band with a major clothing upgrade 😇❤️
Never would have put these guys and The Boss together. Huh.
You can actually hear the lyrics in this version, but it's Frankie goes to Hollywood with a keyboard player, would have sounded dreadful without
Holly had a great voice. R.I.P
lol he's not dead! 😅
Thank F for that and yep great voice.
Holly is alive & very well !
He's still alive, even today!
@@KieranOKeeffe1well holy 💩 I thought he had passed too! Good to know!
What was their 2nd song?
Two Tribes
@@seanart1508 This was their second song, "Two Tribes" was their first. "Relax" hadn't;t been released yet.
@@JustinRugnetta Relax was their first song followed by Two Tribes and Born to Run was just an album track off Welcome To The Pleasuredome album!!!

Look at that drummer's mask! WTF?! PS. FGTH covering the boss WTF??
who is playing keyboards?
Peter Oxendale
He has an excellent voice but i associate the song with Springsteen.
Similarly i think i prefer Barry Manilow's version of Could It Be Magic to Donna Summer's but prefer her version of McArthur Park to the original.
