I have witnessed this before in my life. Standing in a NY subway you could always tell when the beggars major donor was coming. The beggar would smile big and get happy. Saw the same thing in Cleveland Ohio. Beggar ask me for money and I said the only cash I had was a fifty so I had no change. He smiled and said a fifty was fine.
