My Daddy bought his 1st guitar it was this exact guitar! 63 Fender Strat! He was 16!! He just passed away last year of Covid! He was 73...DAMN HOW I MISS MY DADDY!!!! He had many Acoustics & Other Guitars this was his baby I now have it ... He always took great care of his guitars! My 26 year old plays and he now has all my Daddy's guitars but for now I will not let him have this one!!! Now I wanna learn to play! Needs a bit of work not much very few marks on it - tiny bit of wear! His case is in great shape too.... So many memories of him playing -- He had rheumatoid arthritis around the age of 60 ish his hands were very crippled so he could no longer play well .. It killed him cuz he played constantly!!! Mint green guard , clay dots , spaghetti logo , classic pre CBS Stratocaster , beautiful man. I have always been a humbucker , les paul , guy but finally got myself a nice new American standard strat and man I love this thing , they are so comfortable and easy to play , great sounds out of single coils , and when you crank it and get a little messy with it , awesome. I would now kill for a classic , pre cbs strat like this one , thanks for sharing.

its crazy how fast this channel has grown. i wanna say when i started watching there was less than 100k, maybe 2 years ago? 3 at the most. you guys keep posting them, and i'll keep watching them 👍
Strat on a Saturday night. Yes as it should be. Groovy man a nice looking axe man.. Sounds just like a Fendercaster to me. No bad for a second hand guitar.
Neck Pickup: Breakdown - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Middle Pickup: Mary Jane's Last Dance - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Bridge Pickup: I Need To Know - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Happy birthday Tom, I still can't believe it's already been a year gone but his legacy will forever live on
I checked that tune out. Really good! I didn't know Steve had laid much on to tape. Ain't No Good Life would have let me or anyone else know how good he was.
I only recently noticed Mark's freakishly long fingers. I'm jealous. I have stubby sausage fingers. I love GOTD. I'm learning a lot about specific guitars, and about guitars in general. Very informative. Keep up the good work. BYEEEEEEE!!!
I never get to see these guitars on the website. How do I get to see pictures and pricing information ? Thank you. I love the show and the music is always great.
Beautiful guitar!!!! Would be nice if you could mention stuff like the weight of the guitar, and if the neck is chunky or slim etc, they all vary so much!
Ok you've said it a couple times on videos and i gotta correct you there are definitely several examples of strats having clay dots into 1965...the january 65 neck i have has clay dots.
Mark, I’m a big fan of your videos! I’m learning so much American electric guitar history. I’d love to hear some Sheer Mag licks some time. Their guitarist Kyle Seely’s modern take on catchy classic rock guitar is so good. I’d love to hear your stab at Expect the Bayonet, Just can’t get enough, or any of them, really.
Fitting songs for Tom's birthday! It sounded so good! My question...how can you get used to be around such cool old guitars? Pieces of history! How can you not drool all over em when you open the case? I couldn't handle working there! I'd make a fool of myself...screaming and kicking, holding onto that guitar as the customer tries to take it out of the store! Noooooooo!😂👍🎸🎶
Any idea what the price is on this. i know someone who inherited one just like this and was curious what the value is. I would guess between 10 to 15k.
Leo Fender said the laminated fretboard sounded better than slab ! I took special curved cutters and jigs , actually much more work , not to save money on rosewood!
Every job gets boring if it's repetitive man. Even if he is doing cool stuff, when cool is the norm it becomes, well, normal. Marks job is still so look much better than mine.
Hey Mark. I have a Japanese Squire '63 re-issue. And, I wouldn't trade it for a lot of better guitars. So, I was wondering just how much these original '63s are worth? This is the second one I've seen you demo. And, they're identical in every way to my guitar. Except, for the decal. Of course. Thanks.
@@guitarocd9984 It's an early '80s re-issue. I haven't checked the exact date. I traded an Ovation 12 string Balladere for it. That I had about $300 in. The look and feel is incredible and nostalgic. Since it was cheap, I've done some modifications and upgrades. That you couldn't do to an original without ruining the value.
Next week, please, A Million Miles Away, Irish Tour '74 version with the behind the nut bends after the G string 7th and 5th fret harmonics. First tune i ever heard from Rory.
I'm torn between the Strat and the SG as my favorite sounding guitars of all time. I guess it depends on the music. SG for metal, Strat for everything else.
nice playing! i like that you play the song parts true, and don't like arrange chord melody or whatever. and you can tell that amp is loud because how of loud he has to shout between pickup demo changes. gak it! thanks man
Well I think these guitars go round and round to the same people. Usually professional collectors. Reverb will give you a ballpark figure. that's where I go. This guitar is between $15,000 and $20,000.

I don't think Tom would've heard it with the Vol on 4! Great guitar and great set Mark!
I can dig it.
Mark is great. The catch phrases he throws all the time always get me
One of these came into my shop today and holy hell, what a treat to play. It even had the original Fender shipping box.

Rest In Peace Tom as well as Ronnie, Steve, Cassie and all.

That's exactly what a Fender Stratocaster is supposed to look like. In my mind anyway.
and sound like amigo
The Sunbursts just don't look like that anymore. They Must have forgot how to do it.
What about slabboard?
thats the nicest burst ive seen on a strat... ever.
Great guitar and great set. RIP Tom Petty!

A great strat. Curious though, aren’t you about due to switch to a different amp?
Straderday gets your fender electric guitar on 🤟🎸🎼
Great strat. Not really twangy but really resonant
It's sad we won't get any Tom Petty appearances at Norms...Just some rapper who fell asleep at a party and people drew on his face.
Jerrold Morgan Tom Petty is a legend. No doubt about it. He is missed. Post Malone is more than just "some rapper". Don't be a fool.
Damnnnnnnn...Prototypical Strat tone.

Love this Strat! Great way to end a week and awesome tribute to Tom Petty! However! Gotta do a Maton!
Mark is a great player but can stand how he handles these vintage guitars like they’re squires from Guitar Center

Any idea what the price is on this. i know someone who inherited one just like this and was curious what the value is. I would guess between 10 to 15k.
Did you ever notice beginning of Breakdown is similar to Moondance?
Its a veneer board right? Srv tones!
Leo Fender said the laminated fretboard sounded better than slab ! I took special curved cutters and jigs , actually much more work , not to save money on rosewood!
Who called and got the price?
I would love to put a tortoise pickguard on that and change it to a 5 way switch.
Much Respect for Tom Petty. ..RIP
Maybe next time you have a 'Stratocaster with a whammy bar' you could squeeze out a little bit of Joe's Garage.....

Can you guys please mention the price of the guitars ??? Thanks
They probably take the best and highest bid. So setting a price might not be smart.
The people that buy these already know what they are worth. I would like to know how much they sold it for. They never tell us that either.
of course...the first question is always...how much?
