Somebody needs to make it clear to the Police that the words "We're having a conversation" IS NOT an acceptable method to bypass your rights to anonymity and NOT having to account for a legal activity, while THEY think they can invent the law as they go along!

Feltham is scheduled for closure in 2025 and to be redeveloped for housing. One of the functions is storing maps and aeronautical charts.

You don't have to give you I.D OR DRONE I.D. and the police can only ask you to land it if the suspect you of commenting a offence.
Be careful, the more you say the more chance you have incriminating yourself.

I told a cop today about a rubber dinghy looking man
filming lots of children in a playground right in front of him ! And many others members of the public were getting angry and said the same to the cop ….. and he the cop just drove away. 😡😡😡

It isn't recommended but filming anyone in public, including children, is not illegal. What would you expect the officers to do?

Even if he said he was illegal I doubt that they have any powers of arrest. They would just tell him how to get Croydon immigration. We do need to stop treating them with kid's gloves though in case we are accused of racism. In this context, I am just talking about taking photos. The day you get arrested for taking photos is the day we are all in trouble, having been taken over by the likes of China.

The law regarding police asking for your operator ID is a little unclear. You are correct in that they can ask for it (& your details) if you are flying or they know you have just flown.. or are about to take off.
However, they can’t ask you to land it (unless they suspect a crime)
This of course is a bit of a contradiction. They can’t ask you to land but they can ask for your operator ID 🤔 I asked Sean from Geeksvana about this once and he said most officers will simply hang around for you to land.. afterall batteries will die after 20 mins or so anyway… then they will get your OP ID 😀
Law changed in 2021, they can ask for op id.
@@lumo7461 yes I know. They can can ask for your name, address, op id & can even ask to examine your drone…. as long as they suspect you have flown your drone or are about to fly it. They can’t demand you land it tho, so would have to wait for you to land 👍
Police just have to be investigating flight of "large drone reported to them" to gain all the details!

These guy seem happy to spend time manufacturing a crime to pin on you even though they KNOW you’re acting lawfully. These ones are slimy.
I don't believe you are correct at 23:00 (and 27:20) to say that they can have the operator ID if the drone has been flown. Schedule 9 allows police to ask you to provide evidence of a relevant competency requirement if a drone has been flown. Note reference to the word "relevant".
However for a 249g drone there is no competency requirement and therefor there cannot be anything relevant to show. The operator ID is not evidence of competency to fly as it is just a registration tool. Only for 250g+ drones is there a competency requirement and this is when they can use Schedule 9.
The only requirement in this area as per the CAA for a 249g drone is to read the manual so in theory you could be asked questions to show you have read it, but even then you are entitled not to answer any questions or participate in their investigation.

Flying over any building will show what? Walls and roof, potentially communication antenna. Other than that any information contained within the building isn't visible. I am sitting in my lounge in Australia and able to see the google street view of the entire facility. Would google be responsible if anything happened to the site?
