- Official music video for "They Call Me Doc" ft. Aaron Lewis, Vince Gill and Dan Tyminski.
They Call Me Doc was written through the CreatiVets songwriting program with US Navy Veteran, Shaun Bott. Shaun, a Navy corpsman (medic), was deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom and provided medical support for US Marine convoy operations. His song pays tribute to all “Doc’s” that have served in each war, the hardships they have had to endure and the lives they have saved.

I held the honor of that nickname. I appreciate this song. I know you probably get this kind of comment often, but I’m a female “Doc” veteran. I would love to honor my sisters by giving back too. Please consider it.
Im on a bus right now heading to San Antonio from fort leonard wood, proud to be a 68 whiskey and serve the United states of America
Stop lying, I can tell your not going to any military base.
I had the honor of being doc for some of the bravest brothers and sisters a man could ever know...this both hurts and makes me proud at the same time...
Thank you Sir for yo ure service. May God Bless you and all our military
Best job in the world
Thank you! For you Brave service!!!
Thank you for your service Sir!!
Thanks doc . US Marine 2005 Helmand province .
8404 Corpsman here and they call me "Doc." To all the Marines out there, may Angels always watch over your lives with undying and unconditional love. Past, present and future.
God bless you

Once again, he speaks as the voice of our true hero’s. Not the criminals that the left wing media glorifies (insert names here).
To all the Corpsman/Medics in every branch of service, Thank you brothers & sisters. Semper Fi.

Old doc here. Great 👍 👌 the best song ever. Fmf corpsmen 70-71
Semper Fi brother.

To the best damn Corpsman / brother (Tim) a Marine could ever have asked for. You picked me up in Africa/Iraq/Afghanistan when I was leaving parts of my self in those countries and patched me up and made sure I could see my kids again. I love you brother . Semper FI!!!!!
My father was a tunnel rat in Vietnam 70 to 71 i lost him to small cell lung cancer in Sept '16 I remember him telling me medic jobs where the hardest in his opinion cause when the fighting going on there out in the field worrying about saving you even under fire...
Jesus Christ, this song is the first thing that has made me cry in years.
But I just sobbed like a damned child.
Me too
Same here. Heard it first less than 24 hours ago and keep playing it back. This is a heavy song and should make everyone think hard about how and why we send these young men and women into harms way in the first place.
God please watch over them.
20+ years serving with medics. Best people I will ever know. I would not trade a single minute for anything else.
Thank you for the song.
The most reliable team members who also have the most depraved sense of humor
U.S. Army, 68W Medic here.I just had to talk down a brother I was in Desert Storm with, 32 years later. He just got out of prison and was telling me how he thought about me whenever he was in trouble and wished I could still be there to save him again. I'm in tears even now. Thank you.
Being an infantry Marine 10 years ago, I was so grateful for my Corpsmen always being by our side, fighting alongside us, and taking care of us when things got bad. This song being dedicated to all the Corpsmen/Medics is absolutely well deserved. Love you guys!
Semper Fi brother!
Fair Winds and Following Seas - Doc Maxton William Soviac - Kabul / Aug 2021
US Army medic. Afghanistan. Iraq. My job always starts, when their jobs are through…
I was air wing Marine but we humped some jungles back in the Vietnam era and Doc was always right there with us. I’ll forever admire & respect the Navy Corpsman! Thank u Doc wherever u may be.
Had a female medic that was injured along with many others and she immediately ran to the others aid not realizing how hurt she was. She is a hero! 54th CEB Bamberg GER
“You guys are the Marines’ doctors; there’s no better in the business than Navy corpsmen,” Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Lewis B. ‘Chesty’ Puller told his corpsmen during the Korean War.
Chesty was right. God bless Doc
I had the honor of serving as a corpsman under Reagan in the early 80s. Women weren't allowed in combat back then. I then served as a medic in the Air Force reserves and the Louisiana Army National Guard. I was inactive reserves and pregnant when they called to activate me in February of '91 and never went back. Ten years later, and I would've given anything for the opportunity to have served again. I saw Aaron Lewis in the Frayed At Both Ends concert earlier this year and downloaded this album that same night. I listened to it several times while doing things around the house and never noticed the lyrics to this song until earlier today while I was driving long distance. As soon as a heard "They call me doc", I knew it was about a corpsman. I had to over because it made me tear up. Marines call every other sailor a squid just as they call them grunts but, all Marines call every corpsman "doc". They're Devil Dogs and we're their Devil Docs. This song makes me even more honored than I feel every day to have served in such a respected rate....❤️🇺🇸
Been retired almost 10 years, HMC(FMF). Talk about motivational!!! Was the greatest honor of my life to be allowed to serve as a Navy Corpsman. First time I’ve ever heard this song, definitely won’t be the last!
HM2 3rd MarDiv Vietnam, I Corp 68/69. You and I have the same last name.
Served as a line medic with 4th Infantry during the surge in Iraq. It's the toughest and most rewarding job in the world. Not a day passes I dont think about the guys I served with, those wounded, and those who didn't make it back home. God bless those who presently serve and our nations veterans.
Semper Fi !!!! Proudest Name I was called with my Grunts, 23 1/2 years as USMC Doc, I wouldn't change any of it...
I served in the Marine Corps and the army, we loved “Doc” and would always have his back. Sometimes doc has gotten me into more bar fights than I’ve gotten myself into, don’t mess with do. Don’t get confused with a FMF corpsman we and they consider him a Marine. We have another reunion in November and Doc is expected to be there after 30+ years
Greatest moment in my Naval career was the title "DOC". - no greater honor.
Thanks for doing this video, fella's. Paul Emerson, Combat Medic 1993-4 (I re-classed because active Army didn't have any slots for Medics).
Army Medic, 91-B-20 and Fleet Marine Force Corpsman 8404. No greater honor than to serve to save. HMCS (Ret.)
This songs get me every time..."when they ask of they're gonna make it. And you gotta lie" man talk about power in those lyrics. God bless all our soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Marines who never made it home and God bless those "docs"
For my brother. CPO John H Sandidge USN Corpsman, Ret 65-92. Ground, Hueys, CH 46’s, CH 53E’s.

I will always have a special place in my heart for all my combat brothers and sisters especially the medics
This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. I was a Surgical Medic in the Air Force from 83 to 87. This was during peace time, thank God. We were trained for this. But most of my time was served at the base hospital. I wish that I had never gotten out. I was young and stupid. Some of my friends never came home the same or didn't come home at all from Afghanistan and Iraq. It makes me cry, wishing I could have been there, not just for my friends but for all of my brothers. All of you who served or still serve there is a bond that only we know and feel in our bones. It makes me angry to think about the corrupt, self-serving, lying politicians that our soldiers have gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country & their home. Our home being destroyed from within. Currently today I'm watching these venomous snakes rip our country apart & sell us out to countries that despise us. We had a leader who cared for us and this country, and he fought like hell. Only to be slandered by the Fake News garbage media and attacked daily. We are on the brink of WWWIII with China & and Russia, and it didn't have to be like this. To all of the other Docs out there, we might soon be going back to work on our own soil.
Rest In Peace Max Soviak!
As a former doc from a long time ago, I cherish my memories of serving with my Marines and fellow docs. 8404 and proud of it. Semper Fi and Semper Fortis.
Never former, we're always doc. The title is earned, not given.
@@vanceblinn1501 beautiful comment. thanks
I miss you doc Bowman I hope they have a road big enough in heaven for you to open up the ol Trans Am
Served 20 years in the Marine Corps. We loved our Corpsman/Medics!! They patched me up several times during my career and am honored for the job that they do for us in the fields of fire.
My wife was an 8404 FMF HM1 Corpsman before being selected for an MSC commission.
Currently a medic in the Kentucky Army National Guard, and I love my job. I love my guys even more. It’s been some of the most valuable life lessons I have ever had the privilege of learning.
The sheer veneration I hold for the medics who came before in a time where modern medicine was primitive at best, to those who served just a few years prior.
Fort Sam Houston, A-232.
Soldier Medic, Warrior Spirit.
The 13 that we lost .....RIP
And one of them was a doc, Navy Corpsman Max Soviak from tiny Berlin Heights, Ohio. RIP, Max. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. 😢
😞🙏
In honor of you Dad, Harry " Doc " Ackerman,..I will forever miss your sweet, humbleness. You never once complained , yet your pain was immense. RIP my Daddy Hero. WW2, Veteran , you were , are THE VERY BEST! You had none of this modern equipment , you had love and your bare hands , as they screamed " am I gonna live?" So very proud to have had YOU as my very own Dad. Thank you for everything Dad , God has you now , and your pain is over ! Also thank you to my SIL , blown up in the Middle East . Thank you Fr Venenty Szymanski , my Uncle a Bronze Star Recipient. My Military family has my entire love and support.
I was old school 91B down range. I loved and hated every minute of it. This song brings out both sides of my soul in every way. Loved being Doc but hate the demons I drag around to this day.
I agree with you.Retired Ranger medic old school 91 Bravo.
God Bless America 🇺🇸 💯 ❤
Please know there's a few of us in South Africa rooting for you guys. We are a little few!
Thank you Janus
Proud as Hell to be called Doc and where it on my chest
3rd MarDiv Vietnam 68/69 and thank my Marines for working so hard to keep me alive so I could work so hard to keep you alive. We are a family that will never be divided. Semper Fi....Doc Finch
God bless all the men and women in our Armed Services. These men and women who take care of our wounded and dying deserve much more praise than they get. God bless them all for all they do and all they have to see. I know they do that service because they want to and it might be a thankless job but there are people like me thinking of you all!
Lived this life for over 20 years. I'm very proud to have served the most amazing brave men and women the world has to offer. Love the song but some things I seen hurts still today, can't save everyone but can only try. I'm old and no longer called "doc" but I hope I did some good for the people I knew. Retired Ranger Medics lead the way!
Never went to PI but, never had one Marine I served with ever make me feel like I wasn’t one of them. 8404 was the NEC I was proudest of. Thank you Marines for always making us devil docs feel like we were one of you!
We Love you Doc you're always a part of us! Always!
I'm not trying to take away from the song but credit also goes to Walker Mcguire, who sang this seven years ago(2013-2014) I love this song. it resonates with my soul. but give him a view too
My brother is in the army and is being deployed soon and is a dr. God bless them all
I had served overseas and most song never had gotten to me until this one did. I don't talk about what I had been through but I tell you little. I lost my buddy overseas and has he was dying, I told him he was fine and he will make it, that he be going home. Then he slowly passed away. I try my best to compressed my feelings from the war and bothers I have lost but when this song played I was shaken to my core and broke down in tears. There was a lyrics that had to do something that all solders in combat had to do is provide comfort to your bother and lie to them, that they will be fine. I just had to share this to have some closure, without having to talk to someone directly this.
No one seems to get it . Thanks medics and Corpsman!
This song gave me goose bumps. Even after being out of the navy for 21 years. Proud to be a retired Independent duty Corpsman “doc”…best job in the Navy.
My goal is to one day leave a comment like yours ❤️ thank you
Thank you for your service Sir!!
Oorah. Semper Fi!! Corpsman up!!
Semper fi Devil Doc!!!
Served at a Naval Hospital as security and deployed with Fleet Hospital 3 in Iraq in 2003. So much respect for the Navy Corpsmen, Doctors and Nurses I served with. Ran the overnight security shift for several months. People ask me what it was like and I tell them it's like the show M.A.S.H. with new tech. The entire command are heroes. We did not lose one single allied person who arrived alive. I look forward to seeing Aaron live November 9th in Norman Oklahoma. Huge fan of Staind and his solo stuff. It's my wifes birthday that night and seeing Aaron is my birthday present for her.
My husband was a recon corpsman. Retired after 30 years. Love my Jay Baker. ❤️
Doc for 3/1 , best 8 years of my life.
My time as a Devil dog Doc was the best and worst time of my life! The nightmares never stop, the smells, fear, and death stay with you forever!🙏
I've heard the original, and y'all did an awesome job. Much respect from a Combat Medic. 68W out.
nice song and done very well by Lewis, Gill, and Tyminski. US Navy Corpsman Quantico Naval Hospital, USS Independence, and 1/24th Marine Reserve Unit until 1986.
Very proud to have been with the US Navy and Marine Corps. Just watched the last Corpsman to die in the 20 year war come home. Maxton Soviak HM3 Berlin Heights, OH .
It was my duty.
Our little village was shook when we heard the news about Max. But we came together as our little village does. The support everyone is showing for Max Soviak is incredible. God bless our military and their families.
May Devil Doc Soviak rest easy. God bless his soul!
The best thing I was ever called.

God Bless You for this wonderful song. Navy Veteran husband served 68-69 in Vietnam stationed in Chu Lai avionics tech worked along side Marine pilots to keep the A6s in the air. He's in home hospice due to cancer from Agent Orange exposure. I am his caretaker. I cried all the way to the grocery store hearing this song. He was in the Naval Hospital at Camp LeJune in September and the Corpsman treated him with respect and compassion. We learned that the cancer had returned now in his brain and spine. GOD BLESS ALL OUR LOYAL BEAUTIFUL VETERANS who gave it ALL for our country.
Almost 6 years after hearing this for the first time... and it still brings me to tears. Incredible work everyone!
The person that wrote this is my cousin
Same, Jenn! 💚
@@jonathanhinkle8931 Walker wrote a hell of a song. As a Corpsman myself, I've always appreciated it.

Aaron Lewis, Vince Gill and Dan Tyminski- if you weren't already familiar with these names and their immense talent; maybe you are now! legends of music with good hearts!
Was a 68W before I reclassed. This hits home so hard it stops you cold.
I can still hear that Staff Sgt. at Camp Lejeune-"C'mon Doc, git in step!"

I loved my Medics. We had THE best medics in battalion. They were very UNCOMMON.
What a song you guys. Great job, yes the doc's have never gotten enough recognition. But they have brought comfort and healing to so many.
I joined medical for our hero's, I just left as I began my journey because of the bs were being fed. ❤️🇺🇸💪
Ah crap I got choked up and a little teary eyed here at work. Thank you to all of you who have sacrificed and suffered and bled and saved lives. America owes you a huge debt of gratitude

Bring them all home ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
God bless our troops I will always 🙏 for y'all
Army Combat Medic approved.
I was friends with a lot of the medics when I was in the Army. This song explains a lot of their hurt they were experiencing at the time. McGregor was like a brother to me! No not the UFC McGregor, lol; 3 of my favorite musicians together doing an tribute together to the true warrior heroes of the Armed Services, outstanding!!!!!
Someone asked me why they call me "Doc" instead of Doctor (I have a PhD now). Because, I say, I was a combat medic back in my day. That's like being half a doctor...but the best half. Being Doc to a bunch of blokes was the best work I ever did.
God bless you all 🙏🏻♥️🇺🇸
Incredible song! Touching. What a great tribute to some unsung heroes.
