They dig a hole to hide, my parent hide under dead body. I was born in a Refugee Camp, it was only me and my parents landed in America. 95% of my relatives got kill or went missing. I had to learn everything on my own. The whole time they put us in the Ghetto, I never knew that, until I got older. I would hear gun shot almost every other day. My parents told me, this is paradise from where they been through. I love it when the older folk get drunk and trade wars stories. I would sit there and listen all day. This bring back a lot memories. Thanks
Real talk, much respect to Bounceback Meek. Not only is he home team from NorCal, but I support any Cambodian artists. Especially the young cats that know their own heritage & culture. Most of their old rock n roll/revolutionary music and culture was erased during the Khmer Rouge regime. Artists (who were once the backbone of their entire society) were generally imprisoned & executed because it was considered problematic. And freedom of expression went against everything Pol Pot’s regime. So I’m happy for anyone who’s family roots emerged out of that horrible period in history.
@@KP-gq2lw lol wat
Knowing your heritage and culture gotta be one of the most important things we do as Khmers because of how much we lost already during the genocide.
Shout out to the youngins who taking the time to learn and share your family stories. your ancestors fought hard and went through hell just to keep the bloodline alive this is the least we can do
"Thier culture"?🤔 he's a non blacc blood/rapper that's definitely not his/Cambodian country.🤦🏿♂️
Pol pot wasn’t communist but sure
@@realone7405 😂
My pops had to climb a tree to get fruits to feed my mom and himself and a soldier caught him and wanted to killed my dad for that. My mom had to beg for his life and the soldier decided to be nice that day. I was born in America a few years later.
And leftists still fuk with communism. What a bunch o clowns
Don’t le new see u
Where was that at and what your pops think of that situation now?

@@USMC0331OIF do you knows anything about the Khmer Rouge? One of the biggest genocides in the world when it comes to percentages. Killing more than a quarter of the Cambodian population. Shut the fuck up before you start some stupid shit.
I want to hear an interview with their grandparents and their mom's. This whole Cambodian story has got me fascinated!
Have you seen the move donut king? Talks about the whole Khmer Rouge

Excellent work Meek’s. Do more interviews on this line it’s important for all historians in music cultures.
Cambodians have gone through a lot of pain and struggle but we wear it well because you will still see us with smiles and laughter. The next generation really need to look back and study what happened because a lot of the generation that went through it were too focused on trying to survive and make a way in America to fully comprehend what really took place. The young Cambodians need to look back and try to uncover the truth, it will reveal that we were just pawns in a global power struggle that considered Cambodians as just collateral damage but the war set Cambodians back multiple generations. Our culture is so beautiful and deep rooted and we lost so much and we're just now finally recovering from it but it is far from healed, you can still see the poison of the killing fields in the veins of these young Cambodians, it's time to heal these wounds my brothers, it's time to study what happen and see who the real enemies are!
Love and peace to everyone who’s been thru such things. I can only relate because my stepdads family is Guatemalan and there have been crazy “civil wars” in Latin America in the 20th century where they killed so called “communists” who were actually poor people protesting for fair wages etc… murdered, raped, tortured, dismembered in front of family, kidnapped and disappeared. ☮️ ✌️
