This was a great video! Capt. America and the Avengers was such a fun game...on the Genesis! Those voice overs were ridiculous but definitely part of the charm of the game.
That golden shower was pretty hilarious! I can't decide which version to get. I usually prefer the SNES version, but the Genesis one does seem better. The temporary invincibility on the SNES baddies does sound like a deal breaker, though. Once again, great episode guys!
Lony XIsde AHuahuahaua concordo! Parece que sempre tem brasileiros nos meus canais favoritos xD É bom saber que mais e mais brasileiros estão não só aprendendo inglês, mas percebendo que o melhor do UA-cam tá em inglês xD
Dat backwards intro, topped only by that ending XD Shame I only played the SNES version. Guess I should check out the Genesis version as well. Look forward to the nest one. People have wanting that one for a long time.
Awesome episode! I've only ever played the Genesis version, which I'm glad to see mopped the floor with the competition, and I'm always on the lookout for the collector's pin that came included.
I hope one day an NEC guy could represent turbo grafx 16. Just for a special episodes every now and then. Will you guys ever do other generations of sega/Nintendo systems?
wow that's interesting how the same arcade game had two different publishers porting it to the home system. I think the enemy flickering is the big deal breaker for the snes version.
To me the worst part of the SNES version are the totally arbitrary changes to the game art from the original game. It seems like the SNES development team wasn't even trying to replicate the original game.
Where's TurboGrafix...? you need a 3rd wheel...for the rare game that hit all 3...plenty of sega vs turbo...but all 3 can be tuff...mario vs sonic vs bonk...
While I've already seen reviews of both versions of this game, I was really looking forward to your take on this battle. This game has a reputation as being bad, but I enjoyed it back in the day and still do. I got this one on a blind hunch shortly after I got my Genesis never regretted it. I got a lot of enjoyment out of it then and still play it. I love the music in the Genesis version. The SNES version is even more disappointing since it came out quite a bit later, and possibly on a larger cart. Clearly some bad decisions were made in its development. Another fun episode, guys. I always look forward to these. Thank you, Console Wars!.
The intro for this one was really well done, it was one of my favorites so far. I also liked the ending with Sam (and major props for her wearing the Mega Man shirt!). Anyway, I used to own this game for SNES, but I didn't care for it, so I eventually traded it in for store credit at an old local video game store. I think I may end up buying the Genesis version at some point, though, because it looks more playable.
This game brings me back to 2013, when I reviewed both games. I do have to mention that the flicker time on your own character is FAR shorter on the SNES version, which utterly ruined the game for me. Great analysis by the way! Can't wait for the next episode ;)
Console Wars Idk if you can use that with a Mac. All I know is that you will have to use a scart to HDMI converter. Also scart is way better than composite. I do know that review tech USA managed to get footage of it so you could ask him
console wars, if you have a interest at cinematic platformer,(which is probably one of the most minor genre in the video game history) can you compare genesis and SNES version of flashback : the quest for identity ? it's probably the only game that everything is better on genesis.
+Holothurion Idk. See, the thing was that I was making a MegaMan X joke. In X6, you can input a cheat code that turns Zero black. It also gives him double attack power and defense.
TheMamaluigi300 But while Zero's armor is the one that turns black, while his "skin" remains light colored, here it's the other way around: the skin darkens while the costumes remain the same. Taking all of this into account, it can be concluded that their attack and defense are halved. XP
Great episode guys! I love the Gamesack style that you use, but your editing is totally different, which makes for an awesome channel to be subscribred to! Keep up the great work!
"They're furry, they're funny!" I got it! Next Console Wars is Tiny Toon Adventures! Most likely Buster Busts Loose! for SNES and Buster's Hidden Treasure for Genesis.
Fantastic episode, I knew the Genesis version would win. Also what makes the Genesis version better is that it has 7 continues where as the SNES version has up to 5, making it even harder than ever.
I really love this game... in arcade, i really dissapointed with snes version, the cutscenes are beautiful, but i missed the graffity in stage 1, the ridiculous voice of the mandarin and red skull supervising to giant red skull at end. Finally the shame: 1 hit, then run... no way!! I never played the genesis version, but in fighting and beat em up games, sega always is better. Thanks for the video.
Yu know, I'm a Nintendo fanboy, but aside from the beautiful cutscenes and the more detailed floor, I gotta admit that SEGA had this one (dammit, I don't feel like expanding my extremely limited Mega Drive library)
jajajaja! Hail to Sega! :) got at the same time in child hood, got both now in my collection but its more than 20 years without play it. Back to 1993 I use to compare both games with my still Bestfriend Gamer ...you guys do take me back in time :) Thanks!
This has to be an extremely rare case where the Genesis port wins IMHO. To me, the biggest thing the Genesis has going for it is that it seems like they tried to replicate the look and presentation of the original arcade with most changes being mandated by the limitations of the hardware, whereas the SNES version has a number of changes in these areas that seem rather arbitrary. When discussing a port, similarity to the original game is of key importance IMHO, so for that reason I would probably give the presentation nod to Genesis as well.
great episode! I thoroughly enjoyed it! however, I'm gonna have to say the snes takes the graphics category for sheer clarity alone, but agreed that the Sega version is probably the more fun one overall!
The music in the SNES version is pathethic. I'am not stating the Genesis versions soundtrack as top tier, but you can clearly see the music is better here.
Yes the episode that I've been waiting for. America still needs your help. Another great episode guys, keep it up. Here's a suggestion Stunt Racer FX (SNES) vs Virtua Racing (Genesis)
Please do an episode on NBA Jam. I feel like it goes hand in hand with your wrestlemaina review, and there ARE significant and VERY CRITICAL differences.
NICE! I new SEGA was gonna clean house on this one!!!!! So much better than the SNES version. The music on the SEGA version is so much better and also I think the controls are also a bit more responsive than the SNES version. and also hence why Team Sega guy was dressed up as Captain America in the thumb nail/intro.
Even though I've played both versions back in the day but not at a close span of time to fairly compare, I would've never guessed the SNES version would take an L here. However this comparison between the two games clearly displays that version's gameplay shortcomings against the Sega version. Great vid as always guys and my prediction for the next Konami classic is going for the SNES version! P.S. I'd like to make my first game request: Since I mentioned Konami, how 'bout Lethal Enforcers?
Vision shooting those lazers from his groin 😂. I've seen this channel a couple of times through the years but man I have been loving these videos lately. I had to finally subscribe. You know eventually you guys gonna run out of games between these two and your going to have to do console wars for PS1 and N64

The Genesis version wins -- no contest. Data East, the creators of the Arcade original, did Genesis. Mindscape totally buttfucked the SNES version into oblivion by giving it garbage music and invincibility frames...to the ENEMIES -- who take advantage for free hits, rendering fisticuffs worthless unless you can get lucky enough to grab and throw them. I was heartbroken as a kid because I'd saved up for months to get the SNES version, and upon playing it, I knew something was completely wrong. Of course I still played it, when you're a kid denial lasts quite a bit longer. That's probably why I "enjoyed" the Genesis game Ballz 3D when I asked for it for my birthday.

Excellent video. I played both versions of this growing up with two different friends. To be honest, the SNES version isn't even fun for me. It just feels like a frustrating mess. Sega wins this one by a wide margin.

I used to own the SEGA Genesis version of this game myself and surprised that it's better than the Super Nintendo version.

This was a great video! Capt. America and the Avengers was such a fun game...on the Genesis! Those voice overs were ridiculous but definitely part of the charm of the game.
+David Alvarez The voiceovers are def some of the best parts of the game. Can't believe they weren't on the SNES game.
