A great thing about this meter is that the display characters are clearly visible from all angles, with the exception is they only fade some when looking from an extreme angle from directly above. Otherwise they are very clear left, right, and from below.
I have several Klein meters. The only one that reads frequency remotely accurate is my CL900.. All the others are all over the place.. Wanted this to work out as the size is perfect for my toolbag… The fluke 112 stays and the Klein gets tossed in the drawer..
That battery contact setup is just a bad design. I like multimeters that have fuse access without taking it apart. The display is definitely funky chunky. Nice work! 👏🏻👍
Not bad maybe a bit pricey but better than some past Klein reviews ive read might suggest, nice rugged overall build quality that shows in the case and the board as well with good accuracy as it should be. Strikes me as more of an AC oriented no nonsense electricians meter in view of minimal cap range etc. Im not a huge fan of the smallish display and a a bit too thick on the fonts as stated - just my personal preference. The battery contact situation could indeed be improved to be more convenient and it really should have a bar graph at this price but again it may be fine for other users. Its a step up from many cheaper imports in build quality, so some of the price goes to build quality and id rather pay for that than weak features like sketchy NCV ranges weak flashlights and transistor testors. You could do worse as Darren says, still for ths price you can do better for the same money in other brands such as some of the newer UniT offerings among others.
the other glass tube is definitely GDT or something similar going to common ground (similar to Hioki one), with only 1 ptc on the other side. 10A protection is only served by 10A ASTM fuse with (no diode clamp? only on 500mA shunt diode clamp protection?)
I would buy this Klein but not sure if I would spend my money on some of the cheap-o-meters. Now if Klein up dated the display I think I would give them more than three stars. Thank you for the review!
Okay so how do you check your atv battery voltage?? Set it to V and anything with the Orange “select” button?? Or other buttons? Does the black cord need to be in the middle and the orange cord in the right hole??
I have this meter. You didn't like that there was no shielding on the back cover. I have some shielding tape. Is it worth my while to shield it myself?
100%..by adding shielding/copper tape the meters accuracy will improve by negating electromagnetic interference (EMI) Radio Frequency interference (RFI) that can skew your reading.
Fantastic review. I really appreciate the time spent on design. The issue with the batteries/fuse while not a deal breaker, would have driven me crazy had I not watched this video. Really well done.

Set to Volts DC on the Selector switch (V -) Black test lead into COM input and Red test lead into Positive input. Then touch + 🔋 on Battery with Positive test lead and - 🔋 with negative test lead..there's your reading. 👍
They must sell a different sub model in australia because the continuity test has about a one second delay. Disappointing. Edit: I found that in my unit you need to use the hold button to have instant continuity check. Makes sense but afaik not documented.

True enough If! If they could revamp the chunky display, poor fuse access and include a bargraph it would really make a difference!
Switch to Volts DC / V- place black test lead in COM and red test lead in the positive input (Red/Right hand side). You're good to go.
