    ALWAYS buy from Summit racing when you like a product but don't like their service. Summit will eat the costs to make you happy and leverage their buying power against the manufacture on their own time to get shit right. How do I know, I worked there.

    Jay, loving the Camaro content. As far as spring compressors go, they do make a style of coil spring compressor that should fit your Camaro. I had an old S10 with a similar front suspension setup, and a tool like the OEMTOOLS 27035 worked great for compressing the spring. I've done it once like you did in the video, and still had the spring jolt out on me. The tool is definitely worth the $50 or so.

    You can get spring compressors in and it is safer (says a guy who has owned a 67 for 30 years). Had you been doing maintenance with a newer spring you would have had a much bigger jump when the ball joint separated.

    Jay. Wow. Jay... When you're taking a ball joint loose, ESPECIALLY tie rod ends, you hit the cast steel where the ball joint shaft goes through. That will break the friction bond between the two without damaging the threads or the dust boot. You can even see the spot ON THE CASTING OF THE SPINDLE where you're supposed to hit.

    • @Jayztwocents
      @Jayztwocents 4 роки тому

      Dont think just because you saw a 3 second clip that you know the whole story. I hit every single spot of the cast body of that tie rod end for nearly a half hour. Damn thing wasnt coming off. Which is why I used the Tie Rod End puller (which Phil for some reason edited out... he always seems to cut out something important lol) and the next clip made it look like I was using the picklefork... bad editing made it look incorrect.

    putting a bigger swaybar in the front and not putting one in the back or putting stiffer springs in the bak will make it understeer more since you make the front wheels absorbe more of the sideloading, this is why you can adjust the over/understeer balance of the car using adjustable swaybars.

    I have to remove the rear springs in my Focus similar to how yours came out. Jack under the rear control arm and remove the bolt. Then slowly lower the jack taking the pressure off until the spring just falls out.

    by any chance did you also verify the rear shocks were the right ones also? because if there was an issue with the front one might be worth it to verify the rear ones also.

      Yes the rear shocks are correct. The shocks came in a set of 4 for this car. One of the fronts were obviously wrong

    Adjustable shoks are the way to go to dial in the perfect launch in drag racing.

    I heard fox shocks are mostly a brand thing & not really best performance. So I'm looking forward to your long term reviews to either support or debunk what I've been told.

    had to pause the vid to drop a tip. when you are trying to get ball joints loose hit the part the taper goes into with a heavy hammer and they will pop off and not destroy the boot or the threads.

    For what-it's-worth, those notches in the castle battlements are called crenels or crenellations. In case you were...you know...interested.

    I bet you could find someone (probably local even) that can add some bolstering and recover your seats if you want them to still look mostly period correct.
