Our favorite breed. As a child I saw them in the mountains of Austria and pulling coaches. Later we bought our own. We had several. We now own a 2 year old but more a 'sports' model. Personally I prefer the more original ones though.
Another very informative video. Who owns the descendants of Stallion Foley who is the start of the whole Haflinger lineage? I think to stop the laminitis, do you have to curtail the number of the breed's hours out in the pasture munching too much of that tasty grass?? The horses become obese and then get the 2nd disease ~~ equine metabolic syndrome aka insulin resistance. I read that human metabolic syndrome is the primary cause of all other ailments. Horses have the same diseases as their humans, and I think a Haflinger should weigh more at the 700 lbs limit than the 1,300 lbs. I could ride a 13.5 hh one and the 15 hh size would work for a taller rider.
The information that I found on that is that Folie was born to a half-Arabian stallion & a native Tyrolean mare. I didn’t find additional info beyond that. The grass must be more lush at certain times of the year, I would imagine during those times that you would monitor/watch how long they are outside grazing:) Yes I’d think more are under the 1,000 pounds and not so much at the 1300. Thank you, very happy you liked the film🙏🏽
@@SoTheAdventure You do such good work! Thank you, too, for the correct spelling of Folie. Details are so important in tracing the ancestry trees of so many breeds. 😊
Excellent Breed and Great Horses to work and enjoy,
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
I love Haflingers so much. We bought one who had her beautiful foal a year later. Miss them both!

Nice, that's great! They are really sweet. There is one Haflinger at the farm where I board my horse.
