An amazing video. i have lived in rural Bulgaria for the last 6 years and get all my honey from my neighbour who is 89 this year. He is leaving to go and live with his son and wants me to take over his bees. I am learning from him, however we don't speak the same language, so these videos help put into context what I know he has been trying to tell/show me. I used to be so afraid of bees but working with him and getting to know his hives has changed my view and has given me a passion I never knew I had. Thanks for these videos - I have subscribed and will be watching more and learning everything I can from both you and my neighbour. :)

Thanks David. I just hired a company to remove a big and old hive with massive amount of honey from behind a small wall. I was pleased to have the bees to pollinate my rich garden all these years without doing anything. I am sad to see the bees and their queen gone. So I thought may be I would initiate a hive on another side of the yard. Watching your video really helped me understand this is not for every one. The bees were a gift from above and the honey they left me the big icing. I will leave the important bee keeping work to those who can responsibly manage the important task.

that was very interesting content! I learned so much just watching you. I'm not ever going to be a bee keeper, but this is still very much of an interest. I'm retired/disabled. So living vicariously through so many of you all with active lives and varied interests. I adore honey, and miss the days when I could afford to go buy local honey at the healthfood store. Now I no longer get out and about, but am homebound/bed bound for the most part. so enjoy life and a sip of honey for me!

We live in Boulder City Nevada and always purchase raw honey from a local beekeeper. My husband recently purchased a honeycomb for me and I didn't think I was going to like it. Of course, I did. As much as we purchase local honey I never researched the honey bee making process and decided one lonely night during COVID-19 and googled 'how do bees make the comb'. I came across your video and it was like you were talking directly to me. "If you've never seen this before and just happened across my video", 'I actually have a mentorship program'. It was so fascinating and interesting. What amazing bees! I think I'm just going to take one of your beginner online course and not tell my husband. What could go wrong, right?!

When taking off a heavy super, have an empty deep super off to the side. Remove some of the filled frames and temporarily place them in that spare super. Then you can remove and carry the hive super without such strain on your back. Put the super on you stack and replace the removed frames. Replace the supers on the hive using the same process in reverse.
I only use mediums for honey supers and never risk straining my back.

Brood in the bottom 2 boxes after they swarmed, why not leave one 8 frame super above them with 2 or 4 frames of drawn comb for growth and harvest the rest, and then in time grow supers again?
