- Today I set out on a new Terraria challenge, my most difficult one yet. I attempted to beat Terraria without breaking a single block. No digging / breaking / mining / chopping. Trees are included. Can I finish this challenge by defeating the Moon Lord?

Gonna add a couple of things here that a lot are commenting about just to clear things up:
1. The tavernkeep spawns after the brain of cthulhu/eater of worlds has been defeated, I didn’t know that at the time but I definitely know it now (thanks for the 100 comments about it😝)
2. I kinda decided against hoiking for the most part as it seems a little exploitative and against the challenge, I wanted it to be as challenging as possible.
3. I don’t really know why I neglected fishing so much, I guess I wanted to challenge myself without fishing and I just don’t like fishing much lol.
4. Yes I technically broke vines, cobwebs and I think the cracked dungeon bricks, I didn’t consider them a part of the challenge and allowed myself to break them, same as plantera’s bulb and all background objects.
5. I did do this on normal mode, I regret this in hindsight and definitely should’ve done at least expert mode, I didn’t realise how easy normal mode is for me now😅

actually the chance for getting those 3 crimson keys is not just all of them added up, you multiply them by each other, but you got them from different enemies, so that has to be factored in as well
im not good at math so i cant tell you what the percentage is, but believe me, its a *lot* higher than 1/7500
time to do it in expert mode and so on
@@AssortedMold268 You can solve it with a binomial distribution, just need to plug in the probability, number of trials, and number of successes. In this case, to have about a 1/7500 chance to get at least 3 crimson keys, you would need to kill 239 enemies.

With 1.4.4 now out, I imagine this run gets a bit easier. Iron, Stone, Glass, and Wood become renewable through shimmer decrafting
the issue is getting to the shimmer as its area is solid stone with two tunnels into it
it's also a lot harder, since the fledling wings were removed from the chests and the bosses become way harder in Pre-Hardmode - meaning that you kind of have to rely on whatever you get from chests and goblin tinkerer
or you can just use OP fishing and get pink horseshoe ballooon early on. bruh

@@aloe7794 It's based on "Luck", if the fledgling wings would even spawn in a skyware chest.

Its insane that he mostly had pre-hardmode accessories and still managed to defeat the moon lord. Hats off to him! He also didn't have max health. You deserve more subs

@@hajimehinata5854 maybe. In retrospect though I wish I did it on expert mode, it would’ve been more challenging but I think I could’ve done it. Master mode, maybe not, but who knows at this point

I like how this is the one INCREDIBLY SPECIFIC scenario where the dirt rod has an actual use
You can make dressers which work as chests and don't require iron if you don't use a sawmill. Also if you don't fly the solar pillar snake things don't attack you.

I did that kind of run twice already (no dirt rod), and what I can say about it: it was pretty fun! Fishing is not boring anymore now that we have shimmer. Also, if you're doing a no-mining challenge, you'll notice you can't get hellstone and I prohibited myself to use loot from chests/pots, so no Angel Statue/Band of Regen/Shoe Spikes. They need to include new transmutations so we can have these items, since they're pretty much "finite"... Overall, it's actually possible to finish terraria without mining/loot from chests/pots. I've never realized that fishing was so op.
This was a great idea for a challenge run, and was a ton of fun to watch!! Thanks for putting all the time and effort into doing this run! :)

Hoik allows moving through blocks at incredibly high speeds. All you need to do it is a hammer. It works by having a hammered block occupy the same space as your character, thus displacing you to a specific direction.
Using hoik, you could've avoided using the dirt rod, actuators and the rod of discord, because you had access to it as soon as you crafted the wooden hammer.
Also the tavernkeeper spawns after defeating BoC/EoW

For the record, the wiki doesn't say that each chest has a one in three chance of having a teleportation potion, it's a 1/3 chance of one of the potions listed. It's actually a 5% chance per chest (and the only chests that can spawn them in the first place have to be deep enough to be in the cavern layer) so it's more likely to not see teleportation potions from checking only dungeon chests
also if you wanted to kill the brain of cthulhu, you could just craft the bloody spine
Ah yeah I see, on the wiki the table shows that it is a 33.3% chance of spawning in locked gold chests, but I didn't realize in the changelogs it says only in the cavern layer specifically.

To my knowledge Tavernkeep only appears after either crimson or corruption boss is defeated. That is probably why you didn't see him.

Large world would have been heaps better, but regardless, great job on this challenge. I'd probably take it for myself if I used a Drunk (at least medium) world for lots of easy surface chests for building and such. Sounds fun.

5:25 you can make dressers instead, they only cost cactus or pumpkins (there are other ones but you need other crafting tables to make them, like a sawmill) you can also find them in the dungeon and the underworld
Well you still beat the game with basically not breaking any blocks so you did really well nice video!

Here are some tips i think coudl be useful.
1 (VERY COMPLICATED) By Finding silt under a dirt block you can use a thorch to get it. Then you can get gems, ores, and money easy.
2 You can get to some places by using a hook
3 You coudl use the summon for the brain.
4 You are an absolute chad for making this vid, i woudl get annoyed in like 5 min.

Watching this video made me want to share my craziest Terraria RNG-sus moments.
1. Me grinding for vitamins with my friend and getting 2 crimson keys before getting 1 vitamins.
2. My friend and I grinding for slimy saddle mounts early game and getting 2 slime staffs before getting 1 slimy saddle.
3. My friend and I killing well over 50 mimics bed getting 1 titan glove.
4. My friend and I killing well over 15 duke fishrons before getting a razor blade typhoon or flarion (the 2 weapons we were grinding for)
5. My friend and I killing well over 25 moonlords before giving up because we didn’t get the stars wrath (the one weapon we needed for the zenith)
6. My friend and I killing well over 20 paladins before getting the paladins hammer
7. My friend and I killing well over 35 hallowed mimics before getting a Daedalus storm bo
Yes, these were all the same friend, and all of these moments were spread across 2 playthroughs.
My favorite is 8. Me getting the rod of discord from the first chaos elemental I killed in my own solo play through.
I also have many more of these…

I'd probably casualize it into "no arenas" like dig and mine normally but no terraforming or platforming for boss arenas (to use the world as it is as your arena)

Your ruleset said its allowed to use actuators if absolutely necessary, which would have been the case for these. You could use a hook on them and they would break too BUT that would still make the run invalid as you claim "without breaking any blocks" which the cracked dungeon BLOCK definitely is.
But this doesnt make the video less entertaining at all and the video still proves that its technically possible with those rules. I just didnt like that you basically wrote "I dont this block as a block."

I'm glad you enjoyed! Okay my apologies, saying that they aren't considered blocks is silly. I reworded my comment to say that I don't consider it a part of the challenge. Mainly because I didn't even realize what I was doing at the time and I didn't think of it until months later when someone commented it. If that makes my challenge invalid then so be it, but it was my challenge I put on myself so I don't really care lol. Honestly just an oversight on my part.

you could have played summoner. summoner's armors in late game require no materials from mining so that would be much easier

You didnt come across the tavern keeper because he only spawns after defeating eater of worlds or the brain of Cthulhu, so if you broke 2 more crimson hearts and fought the brain he will spawn and youll get the armor.
Also your pretty damn good at the game, i dont know how you killed all of these bosses without dying!
i love how he hypes up every boss to be a challenge when he is playing on easy mode, he sure know how to be a show man
To be fair I was underprepared with my lack of arenas, potions and good items/armour, but yeah, the bosses weren’t too hard :P gotta make it entertaining!

Watching him throw away the pickaxe was the most painful thing I’ve ever seen.
7:16 chests have a 1/3 chance of having a thorns, waterwalking, invis, hunter, dangersense, or teleportation potion, not teleportation potions specifically
20:11 i think the tavernkeeper only spawns after defeating the eater of worlds/brain of cthulhu, which you could have done by rod of discord and destroying 3 crimson hearts
