PERFECT? - Boeing's Unreleased NMA
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 гру 2023
- Over the past decade, analysts' talk of the importance of the middle of the market sector has reigned supreme. Additionally, understanding where Boeing placed in this market in the late 2010s was incredibly important. However, the plane maker would not proceed with an NMA launch for several reasons. But, did this proposed aircraft have capabilities that would define it to be a game changer, what would it have come with and what features would've been necessary for airlines to consider it?

Imagine a flying pencil NMA design with the 787 wing + nose and modern engines.
Unbeatable.
Sorry, Boing will only develop a new plane once it finishes the certification of B737MAX-7, B737MAX-10, B777X-9, and B777X-8.
I agree, just let Boeing finishing all uncertified aircrafts before starting development of all new aircraft
Very True
And 7778F
2030 earliest
And then they first need to save up some cash to fund it
The 767-200ER, which is smaller but has may similarities to the 767 freighter still in production, has a 2 class seating capacity 214 and range of 6,590 nmi (12,200 km; 7,580 mi). This is a seating capacity a little higher than the 737-10 and a range a little lower than the 787-8. Would it not be better to restart production of this variant while waiting for new technology for the next middle of the market aircraft? They could even try to get a new engine both for the passenger and freighter version to make both more economical and environmental friendly. (Boeing did some studies about re-engine the 767 few years ago.)
Sounds logical.
The engine makers would not be interested in making a newer engine for such a low volume aircraft.
Boeing gave the opportunity to Airbus to become the king in the single aisle market. With the B737, the B757, the B767 and the B777, Boeing remained the leader in the aviation industry. For decades. Until the end of assembling of the B757. And with no new modern replacing aircraft, except for the B787. Hara-kiri made in Boeing....
i like the names of your chapters! very appropriate for the boeing nma.
The NMA is "perfect" in the same way the Avro Arrow is the perfect interceptor: They never came to fruition so we will never know what their flaws and failings were.
I agree with Richard Aboulafia that the argument that an NMA could quickly be obsoleted by future tech doesn't hold water. Engines like the RR UltraFan with some SAF blend fuel will most likely be the iterative technology by the 2030s. A future-proof NMA design can happen now, with gas turbines optimized to be able to handle future engine tech/SAF.
My understanding is that neither Boeing nor Airbus will develop new aircraft until new engines are developed.
NMA that has wide body passenger characteristics and fits in existing narrow body slots. That is key.
Shoulda, woulda, coulda.
Transavia took delivery of its first a321neo
Ty dj!!
Bring back the 787-3! Or is that still too much a plane? I say, use the 787 base and make it a single aisle and like the 757, make it over powered so we can still have an aircraft that rockets down the runway.
Boeings customers where crying out for this aircraft around 5 years ago but Boeing where too busy with problems with the 737-max and 777x and si dropped the ball giving it too Airbus. They said they were not going forward with the NMA. Yes lots of 75/76 ard still flying but not ageing and need replacing, if you have a growing market then the 787-8 may be an aircraft worth looking at, it’s cost effective as range and fuel use are concerned and is more modern and comfortable than a single aisle aircraft such as the 757 and only slightly larger than the 76. So from Boeings perspective they will want to sell you the 78-8 to cover t 1:45 1:45 he 75-3 and 76-2/3 series and smaller then the 73-10 will fit.. that’s how Boeing are looking at it at the moment. They have lost the capacity to launch multiple new aircraft as they are firmly stuck in the 738 max debacle and the never ending delays to the 777 X. Since moving to try to be a less engineering and less pioneering company they have lost focus on what and who they are, moving away from Seattle has been part of their downfall as instead of men with oil on their sleeves they now have men in Armani suits making decisions who quite honestly don’t know the difference between port and starboard. They are in a mess and in no position to offer a new aircraft and Airbus are cleaning up with the A321 neo
Why doesn't Boeing "max" something like the 767-300ER as a stopgap measure, until the NMA is developed next decade? As it stands, it's got two aisles, a capacity right in the middle between the 737-10 and 787-8, and a nearly 6,000-nautical-mile range. I admit I am not the most knowledgeable on this topic. Can someone explain why they haven't considered something like this?
Would it perform well like the 757 with the short runways?
It wouldn’t have sold well since the airlines want it next generation aircraft. The engine manufacturers were not interested either.
What’s the difference between a B767-300ER and the B787-9?
@@randeepsomel3079 Do your own research on that one. Do your google homework.
@@johniii8147there is no difference in size. B787 has greater range due to improved materials and engines. Hence no point in creating a B767-300ER MAX.
They needed this aircraft 20 years ago at least.
But they have to finish the 777 first
Guess why over 80% are not subscribing? MOST of these videos basically talk about the A321 in different ways. You're basically releasing the same videos over and over.
If I may offer a suggestion; why not start a series of videos that talk about the great airliners that no longer exist, including problems with their earlier designs? Do videos about the Lockheed L-1011, the Mcdonell Douglas DC-8, DC-9, and DC-10, the British Trident, De Havilland Comet, Boeing 707, 727, the Airbus A300 and A310, the Lockheed Constellation, Concorde, the great Tupolevs, Illushyns, etc
That basically gives you NEW videos for an entire year. We already know how amazing the A321 is (NOT!!), and have heard enough of it. Yes, Boeing screwed up by not replacing the 757. Let's move on, and perhaps you'll get more subscribers.
Don't forget the unique B720. I used to travel on it back in the 60 & 70's with EAL. Takeoff was similar to current 757--such a blast.
what are your thoughts on the comac 919 ?
Ok
boeing: hello hello hell o to you all, this is our newest cremation machine !!! come on come on
don't be shy... !!!
At this point, why wouldn't Boeing just bring back the 787-3? Smaller wing, more capacity, and reduced range compared to the 787-8.
I agree, it’s basically what the NMA will be.
just another missed opportunity
boeing doesn't have the money to develop a new aircraft with the 434/787/777 problems. right now they have to get these aircraft(the current lines) out the door so they can hopefully make some money...
you're a Boeing basher
Ty dj!!
