Do you find contacts into Europe are good with the antenna low down like that? Mine is about 6 foot to the base and works Europe well on 21mhz and 10m. Not much local 11m though, but at that height I wouldn't expect it. Good video by the way. I have a bit of a soft spot for the silver rod. Simple, affordable and repairable.
Yes on 10m I’ve worked the states Russia and a few repeaters like Hb9hd used this morning on the Cb on 27.305 and worked well it’s more tuned for 10 than 11m
@@2j4ez same experience here. Mine needs a little adjustment as it's resonant on 26mhz but VSWR is acceptable on 27 28 and 29. It's probably quite inefficient on 21 megs but still making good contacts. 👍
@@2j4ez just spoke with Finland QRP using the silver rod, no tuner. Swr about 2:1. He gave me a report of 5/7. It works well enough. Should work for you too. Give it a try and let me know. A friend has a gainmaster and tried it but the swr was too high without a tuner.
My thoughts exactly. Would love to know more about the analyser. Looks a lot easier than running in and out of the house with an SWR meter attached to the rig.
venom is the economic version of the gainmaster ... less maximum power ... less heavy .... very cheap ... problem that must be painted with a paint without metal particles because it deteriorates quickly.
Great video J and fab your stick is still working... saved you a pretty penny or two!
Dafydd R yep the silver rod lives on
So this antenna will do CB 11 meter band?
11m is 27 MHz that he mentions......
10,11 & 12m, or the 5/8 wave Silver Rod does, and its 4.6db gain for under £50 new, can't complain
If SWR is 1.3 on 27.405 mhz. and SWR is 1.5 on 26.965 Mhz. Then antenna has to be longer.
What diameter is your vertical pole you mount onto?

@@MrSuperheterodyne If i use my ATU then i can use it on 20m only tried it on FT8 on 20m must try it on 21mhz

Hi can you do a video on that box of tricks you used to check your SWR on your silver rod many thanks 😊

Wd 40 to undo and vasseline on screws
Rg58cable is the worst cable you can get.Upgrade To rg8/u.More power is going To Make it To your antenna.
The silver rod can never die
Get a Tagra bt104, best ever CB antenna by far
Better than the original Avanti sigma 4. 7/8 wave?
@@zukispur5493 Tagra was a copy but was far better built had both
the piss of coax to install your antenna IT I WRONG. Play too much the length off piss of coax. The smaller it is 5,50 the big it is 11meeters.

get an antron 99 lol
BILL MILLAR and a ss9900 ? I’ll adjust the antenna in the week and see what the swr is like
Why? When you Can buy a silver rod and a 100watt linear for less money than the antron
Grat video good on you geting it going a gen mate
Many thanks for that mate.
Jubilee clips are £3 for 5 assorted, why use the old 1's
