      I mean it’s not the worst thing in the world, tires are consumable and running these stock tires for one track day would allow you to get the rubber of your choice to replace them.

    Greatest thing about the 2020 Nismo is that it is tune and exhaust away from 800bhp due to the larger factory turbos. I owned a 960bhp (9.8 @ 144) car before that was fully built and it was great, reliable but a bit clunky. I will take 160bhp less in exchange for almost stock drivability. This truly an epic car. Nothing like it if you must have AWD.

    That terminal understeer sounds (literally) so frustrating to deal with. I want to see what this car can do with a proper 200TW tire, like RE71R or A052.

    • @andypilgrim3896

      Don't forget the AWD. The GTR desperately needs torque vectoring and general updating in the drive line/diff area, its not only the tires. Longer steady state corners are a nightmare for AWD with out vectoring. I thought the time would be very similar to the NSX at MSP as I had tested them back to back about 4 years ago and they were within a tenth. So the GTR has made a half second step forward...

    • @Gchang54
      @Gchang54 3 роки тому

      Even with the proper tires, the car will feel "less understeery" for a lap or 2 then resort to more understeer. It's just the basic handling characteristics of this car

    There has been some great domestic hot hatches that a lot of people under estimate just because its small like the MK VII Fiesta ST(my personal ride) , the MK III Focus RS, and cars like the C7 Corvette Grand Sport which I feel is still 1 of best handling Chevy I ve been in till today

I am familiar with the Focus RS on track and a little on road and of course the C7 Grand Sport which I ran at AMP during it's media launch; you can find that lap on Proracerstake in the extra video's area if you like. I have not driven the ST at all sadly as many journo's I know love it. The proracerstake vid vehicles are chosen by my editor and other guys at Automobile and at this point they only throw me current cars but I'm totally with you and will bring it up with my editor. Maybe down the road we can bring in some recent classic's, I'd be all for it.... thanks again and all the best.... Andy

    Wrong at the settings of this GT-R. Best setting for the GT-R on track is, you should have to switch transmission to R mode and drive it on manual, suspension in normal mode and ESC off. With this settings car can possibly go a 2.10 for sure.

    Love the GT-R, but it's way too overpriced. For reference, the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R set a faster laptime of 1:13.61, and that car is almost a third of the price of the GT-R.
    Edit: Meant to say 2:13.61 as the GT350R's laptime, not 1:13.61.

      For my experience from the GTR it does not like tracks like this. Given the track it'll be faster. i'm actually shocked by the time it put down. I mean the mustang is a whole damn minute faster! Also tires play a big difference in time!! for example the c7 vette is faster than the GT500 on this track!

      The beauty of the GTR though is it’s consistency. Looking at perfect professional lap times is one thing, having a car that makes you feel like a superhero is another. GT350 is very capable but will be more difficult to attain that perfect lap. The GTR is just built for a different kind of customer and experience.

      There is something wrong.
      For example, you talk about the GT350R. On the Nürburgring this car did 7:32.19 but the very first GT-R Nismo (less powerful and less optimized than the 2020 version) did 7:08.679 in 2013. A Nissan engineer has confirmed that they can easily go under the 7 min bar if they take the 2020 GT-R Nismo to the Nürburgring under the right conditions with GT Acedemy.
      In fact, it depends on the track, tires and conditions etc. In this video the Nismo didn't even have track tires and dit it on the most track centric model. Recently, the 2020 GT-R Nismo beat the time of the Porsche GT3RS on the Tsukuba circuit and that only in a few laps (proof on the Nissan channel and online). One of the Nissan GT3 racing drivers did it. Another Japanese auto professional (and has been for several years. He is well known) in Japan. And he said that not everyone can drive a Nismo to a high level like the other one said above. They have their own style, especially from the 2017 model, they are much more competitive. Even Nissan says it themselves. The R35 platform is still excellent today. Race proof in GT3, even recently the new revised 2018 GT-R GT3 (with a much lower center of gravity with new aerodynamics) has won championships even recently in racing. And I'm talking about well-known official races where Porsche, Honda, Mercedes, Audi, Lamborgini, Lexus, BMW, Aston Martin, Ford and everything in between take part. I'm talking about the GT3 class. “It's like a new car and you learn every time you get in the car,” explained the Nissan GT3 drivers of the 2018 version of the GT-R GT3. The R35 has always been a good competition in racing, even the old model of the GT3 had league titles and even world titles. Even in the GT1, DTM and GT500 classes. And all this even now with the new ones. . But to come back to the GT-R Nismo 2020, it's still a bit expensive in the sense that the GT-R has always wanted to be cheaper than the others to stand out. Logically this is true with the other versions of the GT-R (base, Track Pack), but the Nismo is an exception.
      I agree that the GT-R Nismo is a bit expensive. But you should know that it is a "Nismo" model. These are cars that are very rare in the Nismo version, they are future classics and there is a demand. These are the types of cars that are in a way is timeless. I think the color black is very beautiful ans but does not bring out all the shapes of the GT-R Nismo 2020, in Red the Nismo is more aggressive. You should take a look. But currently it's still expensive for the Nismo, especially since we can get the Track pack for much less.
      Anyway, have a nice day..

      @andypilgrim3896 3 роки тому +3

      I hear you, but it was no surprise to me after driving both. If you compare corner speeds, especially in the longer steady state corners, it tells the story. AWD without up to date torque vectoring has a very hard time carrying speed through longer corners. Very similar scenario to the NSX. But still, I loved the fact they sent it to us and anything under 2m 15s around MSP is a very good time. Hope you keep watching...

      Well the Porsche is rear engine and rear engine cars have more traction on the rear wheels allowing more acceleration out of corners. Engine placement matters.

    The lap time for this GTR doesn’t make any sense. Is it staged? Or you just purely dislike Nissan? How could a Cayman GT4 be lapping faster this 600hp Godzilla?

      @RiasGremoryS54 3 роки тому +2

      Yes i agree, it doesn't make any sense. But i don't think it's staged to be honnest. This guy seems nice and honest. But It really depends on tires, conditions etc. But the most important it depends on the track. That this same UA-cam channel tested the Porsche Turbo S 2020 and did a 0-60mph (0-100 kph) in 3.1 sec and 1/4 mile in 11.13 wich is fast but slower than what shown in this video.

      I get that but still strange how slow it is comparing to other cars. Regardless, great driving although 2 min 13 sec is not what I want to see still it is heaps better than what I can do if I drove that GTR around the track. Thank you 😊!

      @@donaldchia2178 No problem, i completely agree with you. I know the GT-R Nismo can do a lot better.
      The GT-R is a superb platform and is very capable (proven and proven) even recently Nissan continues to break records. The new GT-R racing cars are very competitive. In FIA, DTM, GT3 or GT500 etc. Recently the 2020 GT-R Nismo had a better time than the Porsche GT3RS record on the Tsukuba Circuit. Made by a Nissan GT3 driver. There are just the haters who don't want to know anything. Luckily it's a minority.
      Have a nice day ^^

    • @andypilgrim3896
      @andypilgrim3896 3 роки тому +3

      Thanks for all the replies first of all, debate is what makes us all car nerds... Trust me the times are not staged and I am a huge GT-R fan. All the cars I test come to me right from the manufacturer media pools. I figured the lap time on the Nismo would be very similar to the NSX, because I had tested them both back to back about four years ago and they were on the same tenth; this time the Nismo was a half second quicker. The biggest issue with AWD cars that don't have an up to date torque vectoring system is under steer. If you look at the NSX and the Nismo vid's they suffer with it. They also have a serious weight disadvantage over cars like the 911, GT4. The other point is weight distribution which doesn't help the Nismo at all on a road course like MSP. AWD vehicles also suffer much more in long steady state corners, which MSP has 4 very long ones. If you compare the mid corner speeds of the Nismo to the cars ahead of it in my MSP laps you'll see some big differences and that's where the time losses come from over a 3.2 mile 2m 13s lap. The Tsukuba circuit is very small at 1.2 miles and super tight, which would be a help to any AWD car. I had a few minutes today between vid's so came here to have a look. Thanks again for the comments and I'm very much looking forward to an updated GT-R , as I suspect you guys probably are.... All the best Andy
