For a while, researching the best DAW, and I pick the Cubase pro; and after watching the video how to approach recording vocal. I am very confident Cubase is the one. It is far greater than all the DAWs I owned.
Found that out too. All the negative stuff I read, I now believe is because people become fans and thus speak poorly of other DAW's. It's personal for many people. Not for me. Use what works. But as I tried out Live, Pro Tools, Reaper, FL, Cubase stood out. Add in Groove Agent 4-5 and I'm blown away. Fantastic for the money.
As a singer this is the lesson I am most interested in. It is too short. Is there a longer primer on how to do all those things you showed us step by step?
Using side chaining by duplicating a vocal track and using it to control the vocal effect can be very effective and a lot less tedious than drawing it manually. But that's the great thing about Cubase, there are so many ways you can approach something.
You say we have to set the vocal track as a mono track as 'a microphone is only 1 channel', however what if you want to use something like Stereo Delay where the delays bounce from left to right? You would surely need to set your vocal track as a stereo track to get Stereo Delay to work as an Insert. If you make the track mono, it will not work unless you put the stereo delay as a Send effect.
Nicely done. Who is Becky? She has a very nice voice, interesting to see how you sculpted her song performance into an actual production with "big sound" multi track recording, harmonies and all that. My application is a bit different, mostly experimental synth tracks combined with "organic" instruments from the real world, some of which are on mic.
Yeh yeh I get this but how to u make the vocals come out of both the left n right headphone im only getting vocals to come out the left speaker only how do I set it to go threw both speakers
I am not camfortable recording because I can't hear my own voice in the headset while recording so I have a hard time adjusting my voice. Can this be fixed? I see everyone recording with the headset fully on so I guess they hear their own voice? I always had to put the headset slightly off to hear my voice but then the beat reach the microphone.
i wish i could use my UR-44 as the input, and the TV (which is my monitor and uses surround sound speakers) as the output.. I'm having some audio difficulties with Cubase Artist 10.5.. The program does not recognize my TV (NVIDIA sound) as an output option. However, it does recognize the steinberg UR-44 as an input and output.. The problem is that I don't want to buy studio monitors to plug into the interface because i have a perfectly good surround sound system that i'd like to use as my studio monitors. Please help!
What Do You Meen That cubase Creates Harmony Tracks When You Hold Command and Drag ( Is It Creating Different Versions / Variations or is it Just Duplicating The Same Vocal Take??? Thanks and When is Cubase Going to add Automatic speech alignment Like Nuendo 8.1 has Thanks
Earlier in the video he shows you multiple recordings on the same track. For the harmony he dragged each of the recordings to their own tracks. He then panned each of those tracks to a different position in the stereo spectrum
Ok great , But what is the input level set at before the vocal take -18. -12,- -06 etc... this is so very important but rarely covered for some reason. Thanks
Was these vocals actually recorded as seen in this video ? Only she's quite close to the mic with no pop shield and I hear no plosives or sibilance ? Also doesn't sound like it was recorded in such a big room ...
listen , i know ur trying to make your viewers at ease by saying they don't need expênsive software for good vocals and all i gotta say is, you obviously haven't tried isotope nectar other than that you're video is simple and great , i defintely learned alot though thankj you
I have a vocal sound card to record my vocals, but my vocals are not coming as my actual voice. Do I need something else like music mixer or something.
rishi barodiya barodiya you just need to spend some time with a vocal teacher, that will get you a right tone, right breathing and pitch. 4 lessons a month for 3-5 months would be a good start for confident and good sounding vocals.
Think you have a great narration voice...very easy to listen to and very clear instructions. So many people have very irritating voices and which stresses me, but yours is great. Also lovely voice from Beckie.
PLEASE HELP ME OUT, I m using this audio interface and the CUBASE AI 9.5, also the headphones and the condensed mic that come in the recording package . I m a beginner in music programming. MY problem is related with Audio recording. After I complete the drums and synths programming , when I try to record the vocal track I see that the whole other tracks get mixed with the vocal track automatically as if I have done the Audio MIXDOWN. This happens even when my headphones and speakers are muted to zero but does not occur when I record vocal in solo mode . so there is no doubts of sound leakage from headphones to microphones. Please let me know if its a configuration problems????? Show less Reply
Hello, you might have the loopback function enabled. You should also have a look at your studio connections (F4). Here is a video on how to enable and disable the loopback feature: ua-cam.com/video/7A6eHXVaBkw/v-deo.html
he created 4 more audio tracks and dragged all 4 takes of the harmonies that where recorded before in one track into them and Pans them individually from left to right.
may i know what's best to use as audio interface for cubase is older version not the latest is it good enough if i'll use arturia audio fuse or apogee or universal audio appollo please let me know i'd really appreciate, thank u
Hey there, I just got Cubase LE 9.5 , and a BEHRINGER UMC404HD Interface. Its connected Via USB, obvioulsy. If i plug my guitar into the interface i get monitoring on my headphones, and i can also see signal in the program input mixing panels. But if i press RECORD there is no Signal being Recorded, (even tho i can hear the monitoring) and i cant hear the CLICK or a COUNT IN. Even tho i activated the click and everything. its so weird, and iam getting pretty desperate... It seems like the interface is not giving the signal to cubase correctly OR the Stereo/Mono In/Outputs are Selected wrong. even tho i get signal and iam sure i selected the right inputs. Did anyone here have similar issues or knows what i could do ?
I have an issue...when i record my vocals with a background music like a karaoke or anything else, it gets recorded again a second time in my vocals channel, so even i mute everything else and play only the vocals channel, i can still here the karaoke...Can someone please help m with this??
Hi, it seems you are having drop-out it might be related to your audio interface, you might need to update your drivers or something might be interfering with the signal.
What I don't understand how to do is to make the vcoice fit the track... I mean, the voices I record in Cubase sound like podcast voices and feel out of place with the song itself, and I don't know how to do to make the song sound... homogenous.
The general rule has always been that you insert processors and send effects, but I've never been clear on when it's suitable to break this rule. Tips anyone?
@@skornia8101 Oh, snap! I didn't realise that doubler is more of a send effect. I should try that. It'll probably give me a better result. Thanks, Skornia.
You should really start by telling people: Don't record in a big room with glass surfaces.... you will not like the result Vocals should be recorded in a small acoustical treated room with no unwanted reflections, that is way more important that any equipment at any price!
LOL I laughing about the video space they chose that totally misrepresents every rule of recording audio and therefore confuses the hell out of people in regards to what any software, including Cubase can do.

Yeah, just make sure you select "mono in". Otherwise you only get sound from one speaker
Brief but yet with a lot of useful but well explained info
Awesome, can't wait to try some of these features I never knew about!
I think the secret is to buy some alternative reverb plugins. This was a pretty helpful video though. Thanks
Great vid! This was really helpful as a new Cubase user. Nice to know I can do so much right away without getting new "better" plugins.
It is amazing what we can do with just the limited or Ai version of the software!
I agree, with the right plug ins it could be on par with logic imo

Seems like Cubase isn't moderating this playlist.

I believe it's taking the takes and placing each one onto it's own track line. But yea, I wondered the same thing. And I might be wrong.

Why don’t you use a pop filter for vocals?
What is that sick guitar in the video at 1:18? :-)

it also has "VariAudio" built in, which is basically autotune and super useful
