I am from upper SC, near Greenville so would love to see this hometown boy suceed. I was of the MTB. 65 years old; Was around Toy Caldwell, a Vietnam purple-heart war hero that came back from that horrible place and with childhood friends put together the Marshal Tucker Band. They were at the opera house where Toy sang "Can't You See" and beardless, looked all of 16. Same thing when he played 24Hours At a Time with Doug Gray lead vocalist, Charlie Daniels on fiddle and Tommy beside his big brother making that Fender Bass make sounds never heard since. Toy grew out his beard and they went 'round the world but came back as our pride 'n joy. Sadly, in1980, Toy lost both his brothers in a few weeks to auto accidents, Toy never recovered. Toy was the strength of MTB, but Tommy was the heart. Remember being on front row and watching them pour their music out on that stage leaving it all there. Do not like his vocals on this song at all. He should have dropped his voice down a couple octaves and slowed it down a bit, sang it in the key he sang "Ramblin Man", would have been perfection, How about a re-do Marcus? And maybe another MTB song, "Last of the Singing Cowboys" or "24 Hours at a Time". Sing in low register. Now the guitar solo was spot on. I could hear those "Toy" riffs. Just wish you would have cut loose and played as Toy said, "get dirty". He is a player. He's got it and Toy would have enjoyed the playing a player. My favorite guitarist being Stevie Ray Vaughan. Can't play but I do have an ear for good sound, good pitch. Loved his guitar solo!!!!
That whiskey voice with the 70's R&B phrasing is a great combo, and the young man can play. Toy would be proud
There are covers, then there are covers.
This one is awesome!
I've been a fan of the MTB since 1973!
Marcus King, the king of swing!
I dig him too but 73??
@@plgplgplg The Marshall Tucker Band (MTB), which this song is covering, released their first album in 73, yes.
@@hinney827 right you are sir. I’m a late to the party fan.
@@plgplgplg better late than never. The Tucker band is phenomenal :)
Great song, loved it, Clyde in Houston
This was such a great showcase for the Metro Detroit area. MKB had everyone smiling or open jawed during this show.
This is the key to making it.Guitar players are a dime a dozen. But for the singer to have his own voice is what makes it.Marcus def has that soulful tone.Dont care much for covers but he nails this Toy Caldwell Anthem.
One of my favorite MTB songs. MKB is my favorite new band. Man I can’t wait to see them next weekend!
Yeah it’s
Love this song. The cover done here spectacular. The rhythm section of this band is so tight. MKB band killin it as always.

SEE YOU IN ABINGDON 22 th. TN JOE, YOU;RE SMOKING.
.
Only thing missing is Charlie Daniels' solo on the original. Although he's typically described as a "fiddler", as old Charlie might say "That ain't no fiddle, son...that's a damn violin."
Old Charlie could play either instrument...fiddle or violin :)
Holy Shnikies
What more do you want?
