Thanks for the video. I’ve used this before but never got that result. I like the buffing stage and I’m going to try this again on some small canvases. Thanks Tiffany!❤
I use this varnish and I use it the same exact way. People think I use resin too i thought it was funny when I saw this video cuz I tell everyone I use liqutex professional high gloss varnish and it's my favorite they all thought it was resin.
Thank you for this video. I use this varnish all the time the same process as yours. I still get divots but it is a gorgeous finish. Everyone likes to run their hands over my pieces because it’s so smooth and shiny. Love your piece btw. 😊
Thanks for sharing your process. I usually do the T-shirt method with a 2 to 1 ratio and it does take numerous layers to achieve a depth like finish. I’m heavy handed so that is my issue….lol
Yeah the t-shirt method totally works especially if you just want that great shine! Yep heavy handedness will get you every time!!! Totally has taken me some practice with the full strength high gloss varnish! Also...you could alternate using the t-shirt method and full coat...! Hope it was helpful!!!💕💕💕
Yes I hear ya!!! You can also buff on multiple coats of the cut varnish...and then do your full strength layers! I just buffed on 2 cut layers of a piece and did 1 full coats and it looks amazing. I'll probably do one more full coat and that's it!
Very nice! I have tried varnish before and never liked my results. Maybe I will try again. I ok with resin but I have a lot of pets and hair everywhere is a problem no matter how much I clean. Nice shine you got!
Yeah try again! I also have multiple pets and don't have a proper area to resin...so varnishing it has to be! Let me know how it goes if you try varnishing again!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I don't have the space to work with resin and even if I did, my lungs say no way. I have COPD and wearing masks are bad enough, I couldn't imagine wearing a resperator. And this is information people need and you're amazing ☺️
@@WillieBStudios. I didn't take your advice and varnished the big one. But it came out perfect because your instructions were easy to follow. I sold that piece. Mahalo again Willie and continued blessings

Thank you for this informative video. Your voice is so soothing to listen to. One question: Did you let the first diluted coat dry before you did your first full strength layer?
Aww thanks so much!! And yes!!!! I realized after I posted the vid that I didn't address drying on that first coat!!! Yes let it dry at least 30 minutes to an hour....at least that's what I do!!
You are so welcome!!! Oh and yes...you absolutely can!! I totally forgot to mention how I cleaned my brush!!! Squeeze the excess varnish back into the bottle then rinse!! Usually at the end of a session I clean with mild soap and water!
This video is awesome, can I have a couple questions. #1 do you still torch after you put on the buff layer (cloth application) #2 do you wait 3 hrs after the buff layer to put on a “full strength” coat? Thank you again, beautiful. I put on the same varnish however I do full strength each layer. I liked the outcome of your buffed on layer. 😍😀👍
Hi! Good questions!!! 1....I do not torch after the buffed on layers/s. 2...I wait about 30mins to an hour for the buffed on layers. The full layers...I really really like to wait a full 24 hours.....
It's a uv pretectant varnish...no yellowing. Asame method for tiles....but be aware you can't use this if you are planning on using your tiles as coasters.
Thanks for this great video. I am just starting out on blooms but have a couple that I think I would like to keep so this is very helpful. Could I use this method on small tiles for coasters or would I need to resin. TIA
Thank you for the video! … just wondering if you could do a demonstration on a bigger piece ..I’m worried thatbecause it tacks up so quickly that it will create problems especially when you’re doing anything bigger than 10x14”I do canvases that are 12x24”, 15 x 30“ and also 30“ x 30“ roughly or more any suggestions should I just do cut layers and lots of them to make it easier or what is your suggestion? Thank you in advance🙏💕
I use this method on large pieces...the last one was a 24x24 and pretty much the same application. If you are nervous ...I would just do more cut layers. You will only run into tackyness if you overwork the varnish or go over an area multiple times....
@@WillieBStudios yes I have it was fine but the bigger pieces I need tips on if you do a demo on a bigger piece that would be helpful love your work I follow you on Instagram as well 💕
Thanks for this! I have tried to resin, but honestly resining is kind of a PITA! I wonder if anyone has ever tried to spin out the resin on a spinner? Beautiful piece, by the way!
@@WillieBStudios I might try it too on a smaller piece. It should would make it a little easier, but it also may be a disaster. Only one way to find out! ha Thanks again and great luck to you! Hugs!
Can you see the texture or feel it? Some pours you'll see the texture no matter what. Blooms use much thicker paints so you don't see any texture from the canvas.
I wouldn't go many over though..I'd say 6 coats max. I've done it when I was first starting out because I had a good sized blemish that I needed to sand and reapply varnish. Just make sure to let each layer dry over 6 hours. I like a full 24 hours when I get to multiple layers.
You put in black text to clean your canvas before doing this. Is that necessary to do if you don't use anything with silicone in it? If so, how do you clean your canvas?
Do you need to clean off Silicone? Will it go over Silicone. I used resin for the first time yesterday and I was so disappointed as there were gaps everywhere. I dont know if it was silicone or not. How do you clean the silicone off?
I don't use silicone in any of my mixes. At the beginning of the vid I mention that you need to make sure your painting is clean. If you were having issues with your resin and you used silicone in your painting..then yes ...that was the cause of your pitting!
Thanks for sharing this varnishing tutorial!😁👍

Awesome!
Too cool!! I hate resin!! Sticky. Messy. And way to many variables to muck it up. Thanks for this!!
Thanks lady! Omg yeah I cannot do resin at my house...so this has been amazing! Definitely a learning curve but once you get it down...it's great!

@@tracyrichards1306 let me know how it goes!!
Does this hide the bumps and bruises the way resin does? i.e., self leveling. Or does it conform to the shapes on the piece?
It is self leveling and it all depends on how many layers you have. If you have something really deep then you'll have to add more layers to "hide"it.
I love to varnish but I always can see the texture of the canvas when it is done. 3 coats I usually put. Do I need more?
Can you see the texture or feel it? Some pours you'll see the texture no matter what. Blooms use much thicker paints so you don't see any texture from the canvas.
@@WillieBStudios see it. If feels very smooth. Thank you
Will adding more than 4 coats hurt anything?

Can you use your fingers like with resin to spread it around?
I would t recommend that.
You put in black text to clean your canvas before doing this. Is that necessary to do if you don't use anything with silicone in it? If so, how do you clean your canvas?
Yes absolutely clean your canvas! With either alcohol swipe or spray a paper towel with windex and go over the piece gently.
Is this as sensitive to temperatures like resin is?
No. Not that I've found..
Do you need to clean off Silicone? Will it go over Silicone. I used resin for the first time yesterday and I was so disappointed as there were gaps everywhere. I dont know if it was silicone or not.

I'm sure on YT there are vids that go over cleaning a painting with silicone. Some use alcohol...some use dish soap and water....etc!
