- The North Carolina Tar Heels spoiled Coach K’s final game at Cameron Indoor, defeating the Duke Blue Devils, 94-81. UNC’s starters barely left the court in the win, and four of them scored over 20 points. Armando Bacot scored 23 and grabbed 7 rebounds, Caleb Love scored 22 and had 5 rebounds and 5 assists, R.J. Davis scored 21 with 4 rebounds and 5 assists and Brady Manek scored 20 with 11 rebounds. Duke was led by Paolo Banchero who scored 23 points and had 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Mark Williams had a 16 point | 13 rebound double-double for the Blue Devils.
That loss will never be erased from Duke history. We ruined their party.

I really like what I’ve seen lately from this Heels team. Props to Hubert for ignoring all the negativity and pushing on. Hopefully he can recruit at a high level, because if so the Heels will be back competing for titles.
I have watched Carolina basketball since I was 10 years old and Michael Jordan made the winning shot in the 82 National Title game. I've heard the legend of 8 points in 17 seconds and I've watched the video. I was fortunate enough to be able to go in person to Alexander Mermoial to watch Psycho T put up almost 30 points against Georgia Tech when I lived in Atlanta. And of course I watched Ty Lawson, Hanbrough and company dismantle Duke on senior night in Cameron Indoor the year that team (the most dominant team I've ever seen from UNC) won another National Title.
But absolutely nothing could be sweeter than sending Coach K out with a loss on his home court on senior night. This victory is so sweet it is like nectar from the Gods and wherever Coach Smith is I know he is looking down on this night and smiling with pride for Coach Davis and his players.

Hahah I had to laugh at the "nectar from the Gods" comment but that's so true! For me the only thing that tops this is probably watching our 09 team win the championship my senior year at Carolina. I was watching with the other students at the Dean Dome and went to Franklin immediately after - will never forget that experience.

Davis is the unsung hero - been an uneven first year as HC for him but this is the kind of win that you can start building a legacy on. No UNC is not going to contend for a Final 4 this year but this game shows that the program is still capable of doing great things with him as the coach. Could go a long ways in the years ahead.

I'm sorry but saying the Duke players were "distracted" by the magnitude of this game isn't fair to Carolina. Plus you can always look at it the other way, Carolina playing at their biggest rival's home court on their legendary coach's last home game on senior night after having been blown out by 20 AND in front of all those ex players and celebrities. Everyone expected a loss. Talk about pressure. Hats off to this Carolina team.

We hold the all time record 142-115, Coach K's record against UNC is 50-47 or 51.5%, and if you want to talk about the modern era, in the last five years we're up 7-5. I don't see where anyone's getting "Owned." You're right about Coach K's last night at the DD being a win, but so was Roy's, Dean's, and even Doherty's. They all got wins at home on their "Senior Nights", which Coach K will never have. Take the L, after all that talk and pageantry you deserve it.
All records and stats can be used in all sorts of ways to make one school better than the other but there is no cherry picking the all time overall record between the two.
UNC (141 wins) vs Dook (115 wins) - K (50-47) against UNC-The greatest coach of all time, which is always debatable, managed to get Dook 3 wins closer to being tied with UNC overall.
Just imagine how many wins Dean might have gotten if Dean had coached as many years as K and had the same potential amount of games to be played. Ole K probably would have had to coach from the grave to catch him, which will probably happen anyway unless Skylar puts a wooden stake in him. LOL

Smith pleaded for the Tar Heels to "just be competitive" and Dook boy chimed in by saying "no we wanna beat em by 50!"
And one last thing, during the post game hand shake one of the Dook assistant coaches disrespected coach Davis by not shaking his hand and Hubert looked back him like to say, "what the hell is your problem?"

Those prideful Duke's. My great-great grandfather beat Mr.Duke in the great tobacco war in Kentucky. Shot multiple times but lived to testify against the Duke bunch and drive them out of Kentucky. Duke was a nasty man and being a die hard Tar Heel fan, I loved this game.

Soundly defeating Duke and their hall of fame coach on a day like this has to rank among the finest regular season memories for North Carolina's players and fans.
Coach K might have lost in his final home game but Coach Davis won in his first Duke road game.
This day was filled with excitement and fun for everybody !

Roy, with much weaker recruiting classes some years, won 3 titles to Coach Ks 2 during his time at UNC. Fun fact: Roy left UNC with a sweep of Duke last year. Coach K? 1-1 and that 1 loss was the biggest in the entire rivalry whether your sour butt wants to admit it or not.

Nah dude not even close, I'm glad they got the win and I think it's a team with a lot of talent but no way is this the best UNC team ever. The 2009 team that won it all was the most dominate team UNC ever put on the court. The 82 team that started Worthy, Perkins, and Jordan and won the National Title against Georgetown had some of the most dominate players to ever go to the NBA. The 84 team with Kenny Smith, Brad Daugherty, Sam Perkins and MJ was probably the greatest team to not win a title UNC ever had. And that's saying something when you realize that UNC had a Final 4 team with Rasheed Wallace, Jerry Stackhouse, Vince Carter and Antwan Jamison.
