As a die hard UNC fan for my whole life. I’m still shook by this game. This group of kids has elevated into one of my favorite UNC teams ever and I can’t get enough. Hope they can get one more win and truly solidify themselves as one of the greatest Tarheel teams ever. GO HEELS.
i mean if were being honest and not just getting carried away with recency bias like everyone here, this is not a great team, there were really no great teams in the tournament this year. they just beat a not that great duke team. just look at the fact that there are no real star players anywhere. this is going to be an unheralded UNC team no one cared about vs an unheralded Kansas team no one cared about.
@@michaelfarkas2257 I would say this starting 5 can compete with any previous UNC team in recent memory. Only difference is they aren’t as deep as many former teams. I’m sure in 10-20 years nobody is going to say “wow this team wasn’t that good and they played no competition.” Only thing people care about is championships

well it would have been nice if duke's center mark williams could have played more but the refs put him in foul trouble and he had to sit most of them game which gave unc all those rebounds

I swear this is why Duke-UNC is the best rivalry in sports. Being from NC I've watched it my whole life and it's so rarely a let down. This lived up to the hype and then some. Unparalleled success from these two programs. As a UNC alum I honestly have to say it hurts to see Coach K leave. He made this rivalry so much more interesting. The hate will live on but man he has contributed as much or more to the greatness of this rivalry as anyone. Can't wait to see how the Davis-Scheyer legacy unfolds.

This game has absolutely lived up to the hype right from the tip-off. Caleb Love made the shot of the tournament for North Carolina. Happy trails to one of the all time great coach in the history of sports, Mike Krzyzewski

Absolutely. It's the end of an era that started while I was a sophomore at UNC. I hope Scheyer and Davis keep the traditional rivalry going at the high level their predecessors did. It makes the wins like this one so much sweeter.

Fun fact for Tar Heels fans: by winning this game the Tar Heels prevented Coach Krzyzewski from retiring with a winning record against North Carolina.
Also, gave him his first loss as a Duke coach, gave him a loss at his last game at Cameron Indoor, and gave him a loss at his last game in his career.
As a tar heels fan I was excited to read this then I double checked the numbers and unfortunately K ended up 50-48 against carolina

Perfection - this is what March Madness is all about.. drama, tension throught, comebacks - it had everything and if you dont love this game, you dont love basketball... As a UNC fan, there is no better, no fitting end to Coach K's career, then by beating Duke, on the biggest stage.. it was everything I wanted and more and I know I am not the only one

@@chrisuncleahmad My team took down Wooden (NC State) and I'm SO glad to say goodbye to ol Cheating Roy and Coach K, but Coach K is the greatest basketball coach on any level in any era. Hands down. Wooden's era was MUCH different as EVERYONE basically stayed 4 years. A lot easier to build a dynasty that way.

Thank you from a UNC fan and alum. It hurts much more than I thought to see Coach K leave. He's contributed more to the greatness of this rivalry than anyone since he's been at Duke. I grew up with a "hatred" (in good fun) for Coach K but man it would've been so much less fun without him. Looking forward to the Davis-Scheyer legacy. One thing is for sure, no other programs can stand up to the greatness of these two over the last 30 years.

One of the best basketball games you’ll ever see. Incredible shooting from both teams, the back and forth offensive attack was really amazing how many clutch shots over and over. It’s a shame this wasn’t the championship because it sure looked like it was.

What. a. game. Just incredible in all aspects. Caleb Love is something special. Talk about big time player. And somehow, UNC's NBA style 6/7-man deep rotation has worked. Amazing story.
Wdym 6 to 7? UNC only gives 5 players significant minutes, we’ve had games where we barely touched the bench, it’s a 5 man rotation with any other player who touches the court getting (at most) 5-8 minutes if a starter can play.
This was one of those sporting events that transcended the game - it was bigger than just a basketball rivalry or even a Final Four game. This is one where people will remember where they were when they watched it, who they watched it with, etc. UNC/Duke, Final Four, first-ever tournament meeting, Coach K's farewell, spectacularly played close game, palpable tension all the way throughout. Some games become bigger than just sporting events; it doesn't happen that often but we just saw one.
Respect to Coach K one of the greatest no one can deny that

The biggest rivalry in college basketball two phenomenal NorthCarolina teams dualling it out for a chance to play in the Championship game with Coach K's career on the line, taking shots score changes going back and forth thrilling exciting down to the final seconds, Game for the Ages! Fixture of many mixed Emotions this was definitly one of the all-time confrentations btwn these two Goliaths! Awesome game!

I've been a UNC fan for over 30 years, including 4 national championships, but this is is my favorite game ever.
I don't want to take anything away from Coach K for his tremendous coaching career. But I really think his success greatly comes from recruiting the talent.
You don’t win 5 national titles by accident. Calipari’s talent recruiting only got him ONE championship
@@chrisuncleahmad Calipari hasn't been in coaching position at Kentucky as nearly long as Coach K did in Duke. And Kentucky's recruiting class hasn't been as strong as Duke in recent years too. Still winning 5 national championship is greatly respected...

Wasnt following college basketball in regular season but watching northcarolina play in the first round i was most impressed by them of all the teams i seen in the tournament. I knew they could beat anybody. Am not surprised

Game of the year! Both teams were phenomenal from start to finish, but North Carolina just wanted it more. No matter what happens on Monday night, UNC will forever have the ultimate bragging rights in this rivalry.
To have a garbage final four with these programs is just killing the NCAA like Bama killing college ball. The nba is even worse. The only thing america has is nfl football now.
As a UNC fan, I’m worried about the “no matter what happens Monday night” attitude you stated. I feel Kansas will be able to use this emotional win against the Heels to grab a big early lead and perhaps cruise to victory.

@@RK-um9tu lol yea it's definitely one of the greatest. About 20 lead Changes, it came down to the final minute, and it's literally North Carolina vs Duke in the Final Four.

One of the better games I've seen in a while. Now I'm waiting to see if Carolina has some '83 NC State or '85 Villanova in them. They're playing a team that's clearly head and shoulders ahead of them in two days.

According to 247 sports rankings , UNC is loaded . Those Carolina guys that’s are dominating are some of the highest ranked players in their class , NBA talent .They’ve just recently hit their stride.

As much as I wanted coach K to make it to the final..UNC definitely deserved this dub & has a good chance to beat Kansas in the championship game…which would be bitter sweet for Coach Davis when he lost to them as a player.

I love ol' Roy but he had a hard time coaching against KU. Hopefully, Hubert gets 'em. Gonna be a heck of a game. About as 50-50 as the one that just finished. As long as Bacot can go with little limitation.
